Getting to know someone and never knowing where to start - PK8 - 12-23-2011

Save-Point, I have a problem!

Okay, so I met this cute girl about a week ago, got acquainted, found each other attractive, and became buddies on Facebook. So far so good.

Here's where the problem kicks in. We suck at conversations. I'm pretty sure some of you know that I can't even hold one unless it's one that's relevant to my interests. Anyway, the attraction is there, the interest in getting to know each other is very apparent but we just don't have much of a clue as to where to start.

Care to chime in?

Just talk about your day with her, you know? Instead of just tell her what you're like, have her learn that on her own.

Who needs to talk ;)

Don't know how much it helps, but when I first met my husband we went out once, we talked a little, but we never went out again. Then one day he sent me a text message asking my opinion on wallabies which was weird enough that it sparked a whole conversation. Now several years later he's still here :)

Point being, don't be afraid to be weird or quirky.

If you suck at conversations in general just tell her.
Otherwise try to find out what her interests are. Play 20 questions or so. (if you don't know what it is just look up '20 questions' on google)

and yer, don't be scared to appear weird ^^

Being weird is a must! Just don't be creepy-weird. :)

I agree with prettyinpink. Talk is overrated. You've already established there is an attraction, so if you must talk try talking about something completely random. Also, asking her opinion of something is a good ice breaker.

so.... you're wearing a belt, eh? yup, no suspenders for you!

if you can't make real conversation, just make something up that you know nothing about, and fish her for an opinion. then build off that and let it flow organically.

Random isn't bad, but definitely don't jump out of character. Be yourself sethdude, it's all chill.

I agree with what most of the people here already are saying.
Try not to make it awkward. Talk about every day things to get conversation rolling. Possibly when doing this do another activity, Bowling, go for a walk, be out in the world so that you can possibly get a random topic to talk about from whats going on around you.

Go grab something to eat, or go see a movie!! There you're not expected to say anything and it can still be a great time!
