Description

Hartacon Tactics is a turn-based strategy RPG. The game features a single-player campaign, and several multiplayer modes to challenge your friends around the world, with the possibility to fight among up to six players and to form alliances. The characters roster includes eight classes, each able to equip two types of weapons. All weapons of a given type, for example swords, bows, axes, have their own attack pattern, and grant the use of a specific line of skills: ranging from pure magic spells, to creation of barriers, modification of the maps, throwing allies and enemies, damaging their equipment, and more, making each class unique and strategically different.Hartacon Tactics is not a game of chance, classic strategic RPG elements such as formations, direction of attack, heights, elemental damage, altered states, all work in a deterministic way and have a fundamental role in determining the outcome of your moves, and eventually which player will emerge victorious.Experience earned on the battlefield gives you upgrade points to spend for developing characters, acquiring new skills and increasing their stats. With received gold you can buy better weapons, protections and accessories.Single-character and team-based turns give you a great variety of gameplay, plus, Hartacon Tactics has a complete in-game map editor, where players will be able to build custom maps for their battles.Hartacon Tactics is developed with XNA 4 and will be released for PC, and for XBOX 360 in the indie games section of XBOX Live.

Glad to see you taking this to the next level now, you've been working on it for as long as I've known you. Haha
Tip on fund raising: Give more rewards with higher values. You're not going to get $2000 with just 1 and 2 dollar contributors. :)

RE: Hartacon Tactics - XBOX Live Indie Games - Charlie Fleed - 01-03-2013

That's a good advice. Do you have suggestions?

Offer exclusive backgrounds with custom art, offer (for a high reward) the possibility to name a character, for example a blacksmith or something similar (make sure you say "within reason" so you don't get people paying $50 just to name your blacksmith "Mr Fart McNuggets"), offer to let people shape the universe of the game by creating a character of their own who has a part in the lore of your universe (even higher reward, limited to 1 or 2). Let people write a book that the players can find on their travels. Let people have access to an early beta for $10 - You get free bug-testing and they get early access so it's a win-win situation because you'd already have an active community once the game is released, and it allows those people to get a head start on the rest of the competition by honing their tacticts (reset all stats when the game is released though!).

Lots more. :)

mhm, the point is that my game doesn't have a story or a world, it's all based on online versus battles.

RE: Hartacon Tactics - XBOX Live Indie Games - MetalRenard - 01-04-2013

Yeah, but who tells the players how to fight? Who sells them items? Is it just an impersonal UI with mouse-over control, or does someone say "Welcome to my store, what would you like to buy?"?

the impersonal thing... >>

Normally what you find is a game where even the NPC try to make you feel comfortable by treating the player as they were also human, at least that's what they are supposed to do here besides offering some service to the player. I wonder why your game would need to be so cold or emotionless as it is right now.

The gameplay video looks promising, I hope the funding campaign works out well!
