 FPS Creator NOW FREE!!!!
#11
there was a bug by GameCreators that kept multiplayer from working. However, there IS a guy who created a Megamapper that got multiplyer to work fine with it. Let me get that info for you.

http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/pc/a...apper-v30/

ITS THE PRODUCT T.G.C. DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT!!!!

There are a few things I've created over time that have created quite a stirring online. This is one of them. FPS Creator has a MAJOR flaw with the multiplayer. It only allows 1 map per multiplayer game. LAME eh? IKR! Well there are alternatives, if you feel like depending on other peoples servers and paying to use it. And TGC didn't want this out there no matter what. Simply cuz they wanted it for free (which it was) but owned and run by them (which its not). So rather than work out a deal with me over it, they attacked, modded forum postings about it, insulted the look of the website it was available, never once even so much as TRIED it, but did enough complaining about it. So much they even attempted a PHP Shell attack on the website hoping to virus it off the net. But we all know the "Baddest Man Online" knows the ropes and just ain't gonna let that happen. Now since FPSC is here. SO IS THIS!!!!

What it does:
------------------
Adds 100 multiplayer maps or 100 "chapters" to single player games

Video options added, resolution changes work, tweak your games run on a very low machine.

Controller options added, slots are now changeable.

Music menu now has 20 selectable interchangeable WAVE format background musics for your menus.

Main menu tweaked for performance.

Instructions:
-----------------
1. Download, Install the program, remember where you installed it to.
2. Navigate to where you installed it to.
3. Copy you compiled game folder contents including subdirectories to the desired game numbered file. (ex. if you wanted your level to be level 33, then put it in the lvl-033 folder)
4. repeat the process until you fill the board. You can move both single player and multiplayer maps to these folders. Either will run, and single player mode kinda gives you a chapters idea.
5. Run the MM03.exe file, it will flash some text as it converts your .exe files to N2KMaster Megamapper format file (.n2k)
6. Select the desired levels you wanna play. Congratulations you've extended your FPS Creator past what the creators of the software thought possible. ***************** PLEASE NOTE *************************
This is still just a work in progress, and may still have bugs. Newer versions are being released as time goes on.

System Requirements:
Windows XP, Vista, 7
FPS Creator (any version)
Internet Explorer 7.0
At least 1 compiled map from FPS Creator.

FAQ
-----
1. I don't have 100 levels, does that matter?

Nope, Mega mapper will attempt to launch the level, if it fails it comes back to the main menu.

2. Do I need anything extra for FPS Creator or my computer?

Nope, nothing extra needed

3. What type of a computer do i need to run this?

If you can run FPS Creator, you can run this

Video of it here:
---------------------
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H45SpiiEraY

Current known bugs
------------------------
Only the exit button works at the top(Controls, Video, Audio isnt working, had em coded and decided i didn't like how it looked cuz it was to basic and wanted more options)
The facebook like page is laggy bear with it, but it earns a lot of what it promises.

Mod Compatibility:
---------------------
Right now All of them, in this current beta version, all mods work with it.

What to expect from V4:
--------------------------------
COMPLETE overhaul on the menu, using a HTML platform to give you more creativity and better modding for the layout in hopes to give you a more customized for your game feel.

Thanks Dr. JayRay! I'm not at home right now but I just downloaded it, when I get home I'll check it out and post back.

Oh, now that we talk about FPSC, there is this annoying error I usually get:

Quote:"The application has encountered a problem and needs to close.
the software has encountered an error and has been forced to close. Your level could be
too large, or you're building too many levels. If this problem persists, back-up your work and re-install the software."

The levels I make aren't that big or overpopulated.

Here's my system specs.
CPU: Intel PentiumD E2180 2.00GHz (dual-core)
RAM: 4GB DDR2 533MHz (The module says 800MHz but the real speed is 533MHz)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9 Series (9400GT, 512MB PCI-E)
HDD: 1 (System) 80GB SATA
2 (Where FPSC is installed) 500GB SATA, about 200GB free
3 160GB IDE
ALL of the disks with free space.
SYSTEM: MS Windows XP Professional 32-Bit Service Pack 3 5.1.2600.

I tested it and din't work for me, every button I click pops an error up.

And about the annoying error of FPSC, I've been tracking down this biatch and noticed it is MORE possible to get it when there is no way to end the level, I mean no Win Zone or no "Is objective" entity that ends the level. It also appears when there is an entity linked to an already deleted object, such as a previously deleted trigger zone or waypoint, and also replacing existing models with new/old ones without deleting .bin and .dbo files. I'll keep tracking this motherf- and keep ya updated.

Failed to establish a connection with the gamelist server. This could be caused by loss
of internet connectivity, or the presence of a firewall."

I'm trying to make and play a LAN game. Any ideas? Something I should configure when making the game or in some .ini file?

I am so sorry I was gone...

"So it seems that I have to do the following for multiplayer...

1. Build the level(s) in Single Player mode and save each level in single player mode.
2. Open the first level, click on File>Build Game, add the level(s) I want in the Level Settings tab, adjust any other settings, click OK.
3. Click on File>Preferences and select Multiplayer.
4. Click on File>Build Game and build the game.

In other words, it seems if you create and save the level while in multiplayer mode, the error code we have been discussing will come up. If you create and save the level in single player mode, but load the level that was saved as a single player level and switch to multiplayer and build it, it works fine. I ran this a total of 5 times with success. If I saved a level while in multiplayer mode, the error came up each time. If I saved the level as a single player level and switched the mode to multiplayer and built it, it worked. The key here is save in single player mode (at least that is in fact the results of my tests here).

With that said, I managed to fix the school development. Seems one of the levels was in fact constructed while in multiplayer mode. After checking that all levels were saved as single player, added them to the Level Settings tab for the build, switching to multiplayer mode, and then building it, everything worked proper again.

Now getting to this "mysterious" code that was put back on the TGC server- I will ask again. What exactly is the significance of this code and the source code of the engine? What information is communicated? Based on the code snippet I provided, I had assumed it is an IP validation function and if your "mysterious" code cannot get the IP, it sends a response which gives us this error code. However, I'm thinking it is the source itself, where the coder generated a method to having the source contact your "code" to ensure that it could pass through a firewall and if not up comes the error. It would be really helpful if someone would know the answer and pass on the info so that we have a clearer understanding. This way, I can eliminate the need of needing your "mysterious" code in my source and not have to rely on the "no support".

To the others that have this issue, try my method and see if it in fact works for you. If it does, you're all set. If not, then there is something in the source that has been overlooked and needs a revisit."

Thanks for the comeback. Too bad I've downgraded to my old Pentium4 since my PC is fried. So any FPSC activity is suspended until I get a new motherboard. (Pretty unlikely though)
