Game Synopsis:
This is the story of Jack the Hero! He's an adventurer with a heart for a brain and an ultra sense of justice. Jack travels across a wild land making lots of new friends, including a Lumberjack, an Archaeologist, a Saleswoman, and a Wyvern with attitude. When evil ghosts start haunting innocent civilians, it becomes Jack's duty - no, his privilege - to save all who are affected. Together, Jack and team search for the world's greatest macguffin, the Core Prime Element, whilst stumbling into many misadventures. Their journey may be sunshine and giggles, but little-by-little Jack and his friends begin to unfold the profound mysteries of their world...

Tone
I tried making Whimsy Heroes akin to a Saturday morning cartoon. It is...whimsical...humorous...and sincere!  Adult themes are limited and language is clean. Expect a greater focus on story, character development, and world-building as opposed to nuts-and-bolts game mechanics. Though I certainly tried to make the gameplay is engaging too. The purpose of the game is to just have a good time. [Image: biggrin.png]

Characters
A total of 12 tubular heroes join your party through the game! A few key characters to highlight include:

Jack
  [Image: jackfacecopy.jpg?w=111]
"There are three rules to being a hero. One: No swear words. They are mad fuzz. Two: Always wear a cape. I think that one explains itself. Three: Treat every person you meet with love and kindness."

Viera
[Image: vierafacecopy.jpg]
"This is another victory for SCIENCE!"

As an archaeologist, Viera's wit and intuition guides the party through the dirtiest dungeons and muddiest waters. Her skepticism is sometimes at odds with Jack's carefree whimsy, but the party becomes better from it. Her meddle is put to the test when they uncover miracles that even she cannot understand...

Scarlet
[Image: scarletfacecopy.jpg]
"Why should I level up when there are starving kids in Uganda who don't even have experience points!?"

Scarlet has a gift for quarrels and severity...but her heart is in the right place. She fancies herself a real 'Robin Hood', but it's hard to verify if she's ever successfully thwarted any evil capitalistic fat cats. While she may not believe in the spirit of a true RPG adventure, her strong personality becomes an effective weapon for Jack's party.

Game Mechanics

- Utilizes Yanfly's Turn-Based Battle System and accompanying Yanfly scripts.
- Collect Materia to learn new skills!
- Unique puzzles in each dungeon!
- Every boss battle has a unique "gimmick" to keep things fresh!
- 12 unique characters! Each have their own unique set of Passive Bonuses! The design intent was to make each character's stats and qualitative play style feel like their respective personality. (aka: Jack feels confident, Reynold feels sneaky, Gregor feels like a tree, etc.)
- A compelling plot that's not too ambitious, not too simple.

[Image: newmateriacopy-e1418519836409.jpg]   [Image: vieraskill-learn-e1418519867520.png]

Battles are random encounters. But the player is given the option to disable encounters from the beginning of the game. If a battle has no intrinsic value, then there doesn't need to be a battle.

Maps:
Effort was put into making maps visually appealing and intuitive to navigate. Progression of maps are fairly linear, and are ultimately designed to compliment the story. Screen shots include:

Pretty Landscapes:
