hello people of the internet! (^w^ )

this actually isent a full request as its more of a question of "has anything like this ever been made before?" or "how easy would this be to do?"

on top of this being a request if it hasent been done  Laughing + Tongue sticking out

I'm talking about a minigame idea I had litterally at 2:42 am last night (I really need to sleep Indifferent )

in the game Shantae you can do a fun little minigame to earn coins by pressing the arrow buttons in time to the music similar to a DDR machine ..the difference is that you can actually SEE shantae dance with set moves corisponding to button clicks

a example of all this is here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y86jf9B1agI

now I'm not talking about a full redo of this because I'm not talking about a full animation sprited version...more of a simple the picture of your character changes when you press a arrow key or spacebar kinda thing

the idea I have originally for the game is something I think is great!

the main character is placed in the middle of the stage with two other dancers on either side...you have to time (like in DDR) and match your moves so that your dancer gets the better score then the others to win the game (I'm planning on using this as a major plot point to my game in order to sneak into a palace)

your going against other dancers for a higher score by pressing button in time to music/other move

in the game I'm making in one area three dancers will be onstage with the main character in the middle ...the judge will oversee things and use slight body movements to judge the girls..mostly the main character (rocking side to side when the main character is dancing perfectly standing still when she's doing ok or great and shaking furiously or breathing heavy when she's doing bad or misses a move)

the gauge is set up like in shantae with the arrows all in a single bar and entering the box with a few slight twists

only the up left and right buttons are used (down was suppost to be a spin but animation will be harder then just a still picture)

if a white line is under a symbol the player must hold the button until the next move reaches the box

if a circle is shown in the box the player must NOT hit any buttons as this will seriously damage the score

there can be nothing in the move lineup for about 6 - 13 seconds before the next line of actions starts

the main character must dance for at least 3 judges to make it to the boss (if you guys can do difficulties that would be awesome!)

I made the concept design so its just changing a single picture for the dance poses but if you scripters want to be fancy and add animation I won't complain or stop you amazing scripters from having fun with this

if anyone has seen/done a system like this please reply ok? I've been searching since 4am and found nothing so far

please excuse my atrociaous spelling and grammar I am autistic and have never been good at spelling and grammar
I am also VERY interested in learning how to scrpt for XP as I have hunted around the web for tutorials but haven't found many for XP ...and most were extreamly hard to hear/read ...so if anyone feels like teaching a N00B how to script this themselves then I'm tottaly up for that!
thanks for reading!  Blushing + Cheery
and seriously feel free to comment! I'm the type of person who checks their email/tumblr/skype/other sites for messages 7-20 times a day and I will respond to any and all comments/pm's

anyone who helps me by making a working script for this will get a free copy of the game upon its compleation plus you'll be fully credited Very cheery
Dear Siletrea,

I went looking on your behalf and was unable to find 'current/existing' copies of a DDR system within the RPGMaker line. I was aware of a couple existing, but not even the event-system one I recalled seems to exist anymore. That is not to say that a new DDR system cannot be recreated.

However, there is an issue... Here, you used the RPGMaker XP flag to denote that this is an RPGMaker XP script request. But I found your request over at www.rpgmakervxace.net for an RPGMaker VXAce system. Which system are you using?
Hi DerVVulfman! (^w^ ) I was originally working on VXA but after discovering and finding XP to be easier and more fun to use I switched over to XP and don't regret it one bit!

I work on both but primarily use XP now I've been using XP for awhile now and I really like it! Laughing

how hard would it be to create something like this? I'm more then willing to learn as well as make the pictures for it (or at least placeholders for now as my tablet pen broke Sweat )

(I've been fiddling around with some of your scripts as well and the 8 directional one with dash and idle is BRILLIANT! ...I'm not a fan of the charging gauges and I can't figure out how to switch it over to the diagonal sprites/directions from the standard 4 directions but everything else is FANTASTIC!!)
(I'm kinda a fan of your work Laughing + Tongue sticking out )

I'm making a commercial game and I'm about 15% done it so far...this minigame will actually be a major plot point in part of the game and believe me when I say it took 7 hours straight to event a picture based store...and its not perfect
I can send a demo of the evented store and (kinda ugly) placeholders for the dancing minigame if you'd like or if your interested Grinning
Dinna worry about my scripts. I grant full and free use in commercial games, only requesting due credit for my work. Anyone elses' that may be in there... that's another story.

Insofar as making a DDR from scratch? Well, let's see how time goes. I've been kinda busy, but may be able to squeeze some time in later (very busy), while someone may find something. As I stated before, it was possible with EVENTS at one point.

I find it extreamly impressive that it can be done with events Shocked but I believe that a script would be more stable Winking and please if you do feel like doing it PLEASE don't rush! I'm planning on taking over 3 years to complete this game and I don't need the script for awhile as I said the game is about 15% done and I won't need the script until I'm about 45% done and thats over 30 areas away Happy with a sweat
(besides I need 3 specific scripts for my game ((including this one)) and I'm trying to tackle the shops/casino/roulette/fishing/ingame menu through events (and don't worry I credit everyone who helps me out!!) Grinning

would you like me to send you some placeholders so that if you feel like tackling a script in your free time you don't have to make your own?
been awhile so I'm bumping the post
if anyone needs anything to help make it I'll be more then happy to help
I really need this for my main storyline if I can get some help making it
hey just bumping this up again

this is a very major part of the main storyline so thats why I'm trying to keep the post up as much as possible
hey everyone just bumping the old ad
this means alot so I hope ppl read it
if anyones got any ideas or links or questions plz feel free to comment
You haven't bumped this in a while.... and it was your FIRST request.

I try to do things in order.

So guess what? I just got a DVD and *ROFL* even one of the main characters played a DDR game. I think that was trying to tell me something.

I'm going to see about a BASIC DDR (whatever that may be), and it may be something you like. However, it's gonna be interesting or painful to create. If I recall, the dance moves should be timed to the music, so there will need to be some sort of rhythm file for each music piece played.

Wish me luck. Tongue sticking out

I wish you all the luck I can give! (I had almost forgotten about this post OOPS ...I did start an event if you want me to try and send you that for layout and such)
...hmm I don't have any music set up for the scene yet Sweat  but I'll try my best to get something working if you need it!
and if its to hard to have all of the arrows hitting different areas (side by side is most basic) then feel free to put it in a single row/bar

I'll PM you a copy of Yesteryear if you want so you can use the event as a base to make things a tad easier
