DANCING TIME!!!

Well, it's NOT done yet.   The Editor now has a fully functional MANUAL data entry system.  You can add individual signatures into your DDR files, as well as editing or deleting existing signatures!  And as before, you can 'save' the resulting DDR file.

Still, I don't have one where you can play the music and just press your Arrow Keys in sequence to automatically make your DDR file.  That's gonna be fun (er... yeah).  Oh, some of the mechanics are there... primarily knowing that I can add a signature.  But it is a case of getting the timing down, calibrating the music play/record system... etc.

HYYYYYYYYYPPPEEE!!! Omgaaawwwwwd!!!

CANNOT WAIT TO TRY THIS OUT!!!
OKAY... Working on the system that lets you press your arrow keys to 'RECORD' into the DDR file as the music plays.

Now the first thing that happens is a custom 'X' character does up the screen like a DDR arrow... and when it hits the 'flashing' area, it is supposed to self-calibrate. After that, any key you press (UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT) should... SHOULD... be properly calibrated and recorded. It is recording the data into a 'recording' hash just fine, but the timing appears to be off.

Still, the basic mechanics of it self-calibrating and recording the data is there. The only other thing to work out besides fixing the timing is to shove the recorded data into the DDR file itself.

Oh, and yeah... if you have an already existing ddr file and hit record, the arrows already present do scroll up. So you can 'record' to a point... hit escape... save. Then return to the ddr file and hit 'record' and watch the arrows play until you decide to press more arrows and continue.
AWESOMENESS!!! Sooo much HYYYPE! I'll let Lunarberry know immediately! She'll be so excited
I'm an IDIOT!!!! Laughing

I was like... why is it off by 50 frames? Why is the timing so off? Why is it over a second off in the calibration? Confused

BECAUSE I WAS USING A DIFFERENT DDR FILE WITH DIFFERENT TIME SIGNATURES !!!!!

Yeah, I was so used to the first DDR keypress to occur at frame 141 (or 3.5 seconds into the song) instead of the new DDR system's time siggy of 90 frames for the first arrow press that I was confused for days. I'm a moron.

THE CALIBRATION WAS WORKING ALL ALONG!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

So, I do have some more cleanup to do. I need to set up a sort of testing window so the arrows show cleanly when you're recording or playing back the music in the editor, and probably ensure that default settings work if you're just making a new DDR file from scratch.

Oh, and I gotta come up with a variable that keeps track of your DDR score. I mean, you get the points on the readout. Why not add them to some RMXP variable for score keeping or something?

But now... Bird Roasting Time. Happy Thanksgiving.

ROFL!!! Laughing great work! I can't wait to see the next update!
happy bird roasting!
Well, the script is flippin me the bird now. Laughing + Tongue sticking out

I got a nice background for the arrows to scroll up in the editor, and even a pair of nice red lines where the note/arrows scroll into before they 'flash'.... And I even got it to merge with the DDR files, or create it just fine....

But replaying the same DDR file in the editor (hitting the F5 key to play it... twice...) seems to be giving me hell. It won't play the tune a second time. Weird.

And it appears I need to work a bit more on timing. For only a few bars, the feature that lets you play the music and press keys keeps the timing. Play too long... timing goes a bit whack. Needs a bit more work.

YOU CAN DO IT! WE BELIEVE IN YA!
Grinning
Closer.... Clossrrrrrr........

Now I got it to Replay just fine. So that issue with the Play/Record option in the editor is fixed. But I am still having issues with timing. Dunno how to figure out how to resolve this issue. If you go too far into a song (er... 30 seconds), you'll see the timing get worse and worse. I got an idea, but it would be a little radical.
YOU CAN DO IT!

The hype for this is so high! I srsly cannot WAIT
