RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 02-20-2019 The initial work at installing Stances for Melee, Skill and Item attacks within the Lycan ABS is complete. And with that, the amount of delay a stance pose can issue can be altered by status effects of Haste and Slow! Now, I do have to see about making the stance pose run continuously. Who knows how long a massive 'Dragon Slave' spell takes to cast and how much arm waving the stance pose needs to show.... That in itself will be a challenge, but a worthy one to be sure. Thou who art darker than dark,
Thou who art deeper than night, Thou of the Sea of Chaos, The Golden King of Darkness. I call upon thee, I pledge myself to thee; Let us stand together, And let the fools Who would destroy us Feel the force of our true power. Ragna Blade!!! Oops. Wrong spell. Well, the stance system has now been installed and needs to be tweaked to add various features, or to make it so Stances are merely optional. Right now, stances are 'required'. Yep, more work needed. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 02-21-2019 Well, I was reading an article regarding Ruby 2.6 JIT or MJIT for method based just in time compiler that is supposed to speed up Ruby a lot in future releases. Then I found an email concerning some intensive course that caught my attention. It is heavily web and database based so I might learn more technical aspects of both worlds than I have learned on my own as of today. That course offered a scholarship that would cover 100% of expenses, and if I remember clearly, they would also take care of some expenditures. Such a thing sounds highly convenient. Now I have to wait till June or so to get a response from the team involved in picking the candidates. I can't wait... RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 02-25-2019 On my Kubuntu box I have upgraded Ruby to version 2.6.1 already and it really runs FAST. While the previous minor version, namely 2.5.x, ran a bit slow the first time you activated a script or ran irb, 2.6 now gets ready in a second or two at most! O_O I even executed the krumorsparse.rb file to remake all of the rxdata required by KRumors XP as a test and I could not even breathe out when it was done parsing and print on screen all of the four lines that had to be displayed on the console window. And nope, I was not using the --jit parameter at all! Now I am compiling HiddenChest against Ruby 2.6 to see how well it might perform if compared with any previous implementation of the programming language... Verdict: SMOOTH! O_O RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 03-11-2019 You know me very well, I'm known for being lazy Still, I've been feeling like I should develop some small game. I don't know if it should be a full fledged game or just a concept of sorts. Since I don't wanna spend some extra bucks I'll to do what everybody ended up hating. I'm gonna use the standard RTP with a few exceptions here and there. XD: Got any ideas? Any suggestions? Any recommendations? Take into account I'm the worst at mapping. Heck! You know I hate mapping! RE: What's up, RMers? - Steel Beast 6Beets - 03-12-2019 The stigma behind using the standard RTP for projects is something I'll never understand. As for suggestions, what are your other RPG making strengths? Aside from scripting, I mean? RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 03-12-2019 Other strengths? Well, I, I... dunno if I got any other strength. Besides I have always laughed at eventing for I think it is just a lazy but convoluted way for dealing with programming. RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 03-12-2019 Eventing being lazy? You must use events within maps for virtually anything. Events account for NPCs in the maps, teleport and item acquisition, and much more. Eventing is the basis for many systems. Hell, even when I was making my own maps for the original DOOM, I placed 'events' on the map, those being keys to unlock doors or ammunition and weapons to use. Eventing is the cornerstone of the system. Better learn it. Meanwhile, more work has been accomplished for the next version of the Lycan ABS. I've mentioned the Stance system before, the option to make a form of 'Delayed Skill' system that appears in various sideview systems that will become a part of mine. Until now, the system did cause a delay for 'X' amount of time, but the character was basically just standing there doing nothing. That's rather... boring. Now, I made a small breakthrough where the player now performs a single animation over and over and over... the 'Stance' pose... until the actual attack is performed! It is clumsy, but functional. Still, this is a stepping stone until the stance animation system is complete. Enemies are still made with events. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 03-12-2019 Boring indeed I do hate eventing, it lacks features that makes me create more and more methods to implement them. That would lead anybody to think it's time to get rid of it for good! Even so I guess people like the furry wulfo would state things like it's an unbearable burden, etc. Not that I really care about that... unless we keep in mind I prefer to be a lazy scripter. :XD; You see, doing it for free doesn't really inspired me... Concerning my plot, I can't tell you a thing. It's not like it's a secret, the truth is that I still have no clue on what I should include, what characters should be the leads. You see, Aluxes alias Alexis alias Alex is well known for being an idiot according to many RMXP enthusiasts and even its old users. So choosing the right protagonist is quite hard indeed. RE: What's up, RMers? - Steel Beast 6Beets - 03-13-2019 Now that you mention it, rpgmakers do seem to portray Aluxes as... not exactly the sharpest sword in the inventory, so to speak. Unrelated, I need feedback about a riddle I want to include in my game. It's part of a dungeon greatly inspired by the Infinite Corridor of La Mulana. Basically, it's a underground complex where you have to solve a riddle to access the next basement, otherwise the descending stairs will teleport you to the entrance of that basement. The riddle goes as follow: 12, 52.
Although greater in size, they equal to the same period of time.
You must enter a 3 digit code on the door to solve it. My question: is this clue enough to solve the puzzle or should I include another tip?
The answer: Content Hidden RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 03-13-2019 Okay, I'm watching GOTHAM right now. I think I just discovered the forum's own Edward Nygma. .... might wanna leave another clue elsewhere. As towards Aluxes, Alex, Alexander the Wimp, whatever. One of the earliest RPGMaker games I saw (for RM2K) was called "The Most Stoopidest Game Evah - Re-Duh!", and featured our lame hero on a mission to get his house back after getting out of jail (for accidentally running over a cow with his lawnmower). And ... wanna try making an RPG game with this engine and no events? *shrugs* Your move. |
