RE: What's up, RMers? - Steel Beast 6Beets - 02-04-2020 On my end, I finally decided to include attack items on my project after much deliberation. I had to re-order most of the earlier items as I wanted them to be just under consumables and above Key items. While I'm using Blizzard's Stromtronic Custom Menu System that allows you to separate items flagged as important, this only applies to the main menu and not to the battle menu. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 02-07-2020 I've been trying to implement a separate set of gamepad buttons in HiddenChest (Linux build only ) so you can ask the Input module if the L2 or R1 buttons were triggered at some point. Curiously, it was successful... but I broke the F1 menu button bindings in the process. RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 02-08-2020 Well... AbilityLevels now supports recognition of weapon and armor skill increases for the default system, recognizes the MultiSlots system I wrote, and weapons and armor when using Fomar0153's Two-Weapons script. What does this mean? Well, as a refresher, the system allows you to score points when using a weapon over and over rather than killing a monster. Or using spells if your character is a spellcaster. Garner enough points for a given ability skill (ie swords, clubs, attack magic, healing, pick pocketing), and you increase your level. These settings can be adjusted for your heroes, so a swordsman gains points if using a sword more than using healing magic. And a Cleric gains more points healing rather than using her club, and nothing if using a sword or knife which sheds blood. The only thing as yet it to make this system compliant with Guilltume777's classic Multi-Equipment Slot script. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 02-08-2020 Well, I managed to let L1, L2, R1 and R2 buttons on a gamepad get recognized as L and R buttons in HiddenChest - The Gamepad Mess Version without blocking or ignoring the button bindings you set in the F1 menu. Sadly I can't do the same for other buttons like A, B, C and so on for a player's taste is highly unpredictable. RE: What's up, RMers? - yamina-chan - 02-16-2020 Having one of those moments where you're doing something completely unrelated and BAM suddenly you're noticing a random RPG maker fact. In todays case: "Huh. You can't have a grayed out option in a choice window in the XP, the only way to lock a choice is by not giving it in the first place or have a check that allowes it to go through or denies it depending on what you want. There's no sneak peak option." RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 03-23-2020 I've been going through this and that.... this and that... that and this... recently. Most of my RPGing has been me in here TALKING and forum stuff. Well, I'm not FULLY back, but I took a look at a project that a friend needs fixed. Well, an upgrade was needed in a bit of software which was no big deal. Just a newer version with no issues per-say. But I discovered that the older MACL v 1.5 from January 2007 can stutter moving menu graphics big time. MACL v 2 from April, 2007 doesn't! Unfortunately, the project has both per the script packages in use. Nope, having both within doesn't cause any conflicts. So now I'm on a scavenger hunt to see what I can PURGE from MACL 1.5 that is already covered in V 2.0. RE: What's up, RMers? - Bounty Hunter Lani - 03-25-2020 Cazwolf, a pixel artist, is giving some of her asset packs FOR FREE! RIGHT NOW! I don't know how long they'll be free, but hop to it, friends! https://twitter.com/cazwolf/status/1242901121045323778 RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 03-27-2020 Though I think I did a bang-up job working on an Akali Half-Kaiser characterset, I'm not really a spriter. So I hope I get this right.... The forum now has a Half Kaiser Sideeview project, something so we can have decent sideview battlesystem graphics as a community project. BUT THERE ARE NO FEMALE HK SIDE-VIEW TEMPLATES!!!! ONLY CHARSETS! That's why I'm posting. I'm currently trying my hand at tweaking one of the HK Templates into a more feminine appearance. I'm visually using the Female Half-Kaiser characterset as a guide, but as a guide only. Still, I think I got the head about right. I'm going to have a headache when I get to the rest of the bod... RE: What's up, RMers? - Bounty Hunter Lani - 03-30-2020 Bit of an RMing rant here. People who make assets need to put their names on things, whether it be the rar file, in a txt file inside of the rar, or even in the image's metadata. Do something. They also need to include a credits / permissions file so people know what they can and can't use it for. I have so many rar files of stuff with no credits file, no names, not even in the image metadata. It's just... face images and stuff. A battler that might be copyrighted, but I have no idea. Parts for the MV generator. Stuff like that. Almost nobody put their names on or in things, and I have to look back at a credits file that might not even have the resource documented, so then I have to search for the resource. Please please PLEASE, add some Credits files! Put your name on the Rar file! Do SOMETHING so I don't have to go through over 500 sites I've been where I could've gotten it and search through forums upon forums to find an obscure file I downloaded that may be a coyprighted character that I can't use anyway. Gimme a break, sheesh. I guess I have to start writing down every website I've gotten a resource from in the Credits folder of my own so I know where to look for proper updated commercial/non-commercial usage instructions because artists didn't wanna take 2 minutes to write a proper txt file or copy-paste permissions after spending days making the images. AND THIS EVEN GOES FOR MUSIC! WHY DO SO MANY ARTISTS NAME THEIR FILE "Downloaded_file_2ikoj52o3ij5opjidoijh9iojwio" AND THE LIKE?! AND THERE'S NO CREDITS IN THE RAR! AHHHHHH!!! So like... please? Add credits? Please? Is it really a lot to ask? Is copy-pasting from a pre-made "permissions" txt file with different permissions that hard to do when you've put so much work into your art already? Or am I out of line for thinking this? RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 03-30-2020 First Lesson for All Lanis in the World Save the URL and the Website itself! Many people are lazy enough as to skip including a Credits or Readme or Copyright file because they left all their information on the forum or blog post. If they ever did... I hope people now appreciate why RM scripters use to include a (large) heading full of credits and directions and script calls. Second Lesson for Anybody If there are no credits you better suspect it's a ripped resource! |
