i got dark souls 2 last thursday, and i already have more than 20 hours into it. my sunburn is starting to fade, and my vision is becoming more attuned to being in a dark room.

Is the game as ball-bustingly hard as everyone claim it is?

RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 08-05-2014

it's not ball bustingly hard, but it's no skyrim. the fighting is a lot more realistic, you don't just mash the attack buttons, the swings and connections of the weapons actually have a visible weight to them. it's not a game you can rush through, it takes a lot of patience to get through the worlds because the enemies are constantly changing, and you need to figure out how to fight each different enemy type. for instance, i'm in an area now where once i open a door, a handful of jerks with bastard swords come charging up, and chase me back down a narrow corridor. the first time i did this part, i had a sword, and couldn't really do much because it kept hitting the wall. then i came back with a halberd and tower shield, and it's a lot easier since they're all lining themselves up to be shishkebab'd

Dark Souls 2 is way grindy play the first one.

i beat demons souls and dark souls but didn't have the patience to platinum them. ds2 is grindy, but it's intense the entire way

I see. I was told pretty much the same thing the last time I asked this. They explained me that Dark Souls will kick you in the face and run with your wallet if you try to bruteforce your way through the game like most gamers would attempt to. That's why this series gained such reputation regarding its difficulty.

I am gravely upset over matters that occurred on another forum I visit...
There is a new conlanger to the board and she posted a language she said would be an experiment to the concept of Whorf hypothesis, that is being, that a language can influence the thoughts of its speakers. Rather than make a logical language, she said she'd make the opposite, a ambiguous one. She seemed to believe that logical languags or natural languages in general, were uncreative due to their being "left-brain" as she says. It's nonesense, but whatever.

The issue, however, was that of her behaviour. I tried to be polite and give suggestions, such as learning the all important International Phonetic Alphabet. Instead I was meted out with condescending behaviour. I tried to explain to her why it was important but wouldn't listen.

She kept acting like I was stupid or something. She then says things that she should have clarified earlier, like that it was a personal language, and how others would speak it were irrelevant, and then finally say that it was for "encryption purposes" like protection from the NSA or something.

Worse of all was her unrepentant attitude. She never apologized and she doesn't even care...

I have never felt so upset over such a petty thing as a random user on the internet, yet I can't even sleep... the disrespect is just shocking...

All I wanted was to offer some fucking advice, a "no thank you" would have been fine!

some girl who's good enough at computers (most of the girls i know are bad at internetting) to be arguing with you about her purposely ambiguous language on a message board that specific has had to have seen some shit to be in that specific position in that specific instance of time. she's probably got lupus or something, and pointlessly arguing just to argue is her last way of holding onto life. that just doesn't seem like an argument a well adjusted, reasonably reasonable person would instigate, does it?
