RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 04-23-2023 Half Kaiser Work Continues... Since I worked upon a paperdoll system that recognizes facing directions and mirrored sprites, I realized that the sprites facing one direction appear to be right-handed while left-handed in another. The sprites are not symmetrical, and this had to be addressed. Yes, I am currently recreating the base templates for left-handed sprites... all 49 poses for both male and female designs. Now I am NOT... a spriter. But I think I'm doing a pretty good job. And I have worked out a number of poses all ready. The ones I feel I will have the most difficulty will be the actual attack poses. But... I already expected that. Fortunately, the basic running poses do not need any work. RE: What's up, RMers? - Remi-chan - 04-23-2023 Today I wish to talk about the content I had to cut from Demo 3. Notably Apophis and Sanctuary. Let's start with Apophis The Asteroid That Threatened All Life On Earth Apophis Labs is a laboratory perched on the Apophis asteroid, one that was previously predicted to hit Earth in 2029 but has since been the subject of more accurate readings that say it will miss us, if only barely. It's quite likely M. F. Lazarus used this laboratory as a means to automate security tests on his labs via proximity ordinance. It is known that he also has at least two labs on Earth, one underneath Tristy's house, and another in the basement of Splode's bomb shop. This place can only be visited after doing Tristy's third character-oriented optional event. Tristy, M.F. Lazarus, Lyza and Splode will be commonplace mainstays here, and later on will be accompanied by the Wizard and Mad E Lin (the latter in Disk 3) Enter the basement at own peril! Now it's time I turn your attention to the other cut world I had to skip for Demo 3's launch. Behind A Shield of Storms Lies Hope's Final Lifeline Discovered by Svoli after she became a Ruler, she has invited members of her family here as well as the Angels of Hope. After doing all but one of the Haven optional events, Yasondre and Kyoshi will show up here too. Svana Mystralese will also show up here if you've done the first of Byteopia's missions. The Sanctuary itself lies in the Heart of Jupiter, shielded and concealed from the outside world by a horrific stormshield. In what seems like a complete inverse to Apophis, a dead rock carrying a lab of technology. Sanctuary is bursting with life and its structures are much more old fashioned. Both areas were kinda just made up on the spot so Tristy and Svoli's icon-oriented event chains were not amiss an unlock. That is why these zones were not even made or had begun construction by Demo 3's launch. The upside is it does give me a lot of fun work to do! More Images of Sanctuary RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 05-02-2023 Ah, who doesn't like owning their own real estate in an RPG game. In Minecraft, it is a given that you need to make shelter. Ever since the second Elder Scrolls game, Daggerfall, you could actively purchase a house. So I thought... ... the mechanics of buying a house and furnishing it isn't anything more than turning on switches in the Elder Scrolls games, so why not event up something in RPGMaker... Yep, it's not hard at all. And rather than switches, I set variables because I felt like having different kitchen, study or bedroom suites available. Dunno when I will have this out, but a demo will be available... eventually. RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 05-04-2023 I am nearly done with the 'left-handed' version of Male Half-Kaiser battler templates! Well, this is the initial 'medium' tone character, not dark or pale skin... But the base left handed (or optionally mirrored) poses for the male template are nearly done. This doesn't just need the placement of the weapons per-say but their stance, so they must likewise be left-footed. So most of the pose needs adjusting. After this, the female variant should be next. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 05-09-2023 It feels terribly weird to rush to get something that I didn't desperately need right now just because the general conditions involved there have changed, all of a sudden. Perhaps calling it a rush is overexaggerated to say the least. Anyway, the only issue I really had was to download a large pack, I mean it was huge, that turned out to be quite rebellious. Why do I say that? Well, it refused to be downloaded for starters. And I do believe in my cyber avatar-ish heart that a DLC I acquired as of recent is a real scam. Or it is definitely overpriced. Oh, I almost forgot to mention this now that I'm here. It just happens that I'm out of ideas once again. RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 05-09-2023 Hrm... what DLC is it you think was a scam or overpriced? People might wanna know what to flatly avoid. And perhaps, you could make some RMing tool of some sort, something to test for errors or something of a graphic manipulative natere that saves output. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 05-09-2023 Well, pretty much all RM DLC's are overpriced except for a few exceptions that include many useful things or some Music packs that I like. By the way, some VX ACE packs include low resolution graphics. But the DLC's that truly could be deemed as a scam would be the ones that only feature... meals. RE: What's up, RMers? - Remi-chan - 05-09-2023 Actually compared to industry standard, the resources are bizarrely cheap on RPGmaker. I'll be the last person to defend that shitshow or the rotting carcass pile it calls a forum, but objectively speaking, the resources are cheap as hell for what they are. Some are definitely less for more... But as long as you aren't an idiot and read what it is you get, you aren't going to be scammed. If it gave you 'meals' resource without telling you that is all you would get, then that would be a scam. Otherwise, it's just overpriced. I recommend you better familiarize yourself with what constitutes as a scam. if you pay the price for something and are told what you are getting and get what you were told, that is not a scam, that is a transaction. A scam requires deceit at the minimum. RE: What's up, RMers? - Steel Beast 6Beets - 05-10-2023 Speaking of resources, the other day it dawn on me that most if not all the stuff once available for old RMs like 2000/2003 is lost forever. Most sites of that time went the way of the dodo as well. It seems that generally people weren't concerned about saving anything from that era. Seriously, I really wish someone had gone to the same lengths collecting and then making all those old goods available again as DerVVulman did with the things from RMXP.org and Creation Asylum. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 05-10-2023 Well, one thing is the legal definition of a specific term and another the taste that something leaves you in your mouth after consuming a product or testing it thoroughly. I prefer to use the broad definition in this case. This also means that I am NOT telling people to go sue somebody else just for the sake of it. Now that you mention it, Steel, SithJester's website has been down for months already. There's a very specific thread dedicated to rescuing her resources in the official forums. |
