RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 09-10-2014 The blade for your "ṭamūrḵ" reminds me of some sword designs used Muslims during the Crusades. However, you need some means to fasten the blade TOO your pole. Either the blunt end opens up into a cylinder hole for one end of the pole to be inserted and fastened, or you fasten it to a pole by heavy metal bands. Obviously not a thrown weapon, you have two pole length choices. A long pole would allow it to be used to keep enemies at bay, however it is less wieldy. A shorter pole lets enemies get closer, but the user has more control of the weapon and lets you use it in more confined areas. You may want something on the other end of the pole, like a heavy blunt weight.... even only for decoration. On another forum, it was discussed that the inner cutting edge would be more effective for cutting and catching opponents, while the outer edge would easily break, due to the fact that the point of inflection would bear most of the force. It would especially be useful for cagalry, but I want for infantry and close combat. Yes, the bottom end opens into a cylinder. Heavy weight on the back I don't think is a good idea, unless used as a counterweight to the likely heavy blade head. As for the length. I decided the pole would reach to the shoulders, while the head would reach the top of the head, thus, shaft is maybe 140-180cm and head 45-60cm. RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 09-10-2014 here's what you do: get a cylindrical blade like a big metal rotini. attach a triangle shapped blade to the top, and stick a handle behind it. walah- you can now hollow out and cut people in half at the same time. RE: What's on your mind? - Python Blue - 09-17-2014 Well, my lack of being online at all was due partially to classes. The other reason, however, I realize was a waste of time. Call me a hipster, but for the past week, I've been trying to find a way to port sounds stored on floppies for one of my synthesizers onto my computer. The problem is that they are double-density floppies which are formatted at 800kB, whereas traditional floppies were formatted at either 720k or 1.44MB. Tried using a USB floppy drive, and that proved fruitless: the best I could get was 720k out of a test floppy, and instead of cutting off the beginning or end of the total data stored, bits were cut off from each sector! Officially, I've given up on that medium except when it comes to booting the synthesizer (evidently, it needs an 800k-formatted floppy to start up properly) as of this morning, and will likely sell the floppy drive as well... RE: What's on your mind? - Ahzoh - 09-17-2014 New polearm design: fitting a piece of wood onto the blade using nails or pins to protect from torque. RE: What's on your mind? - Punn_ - 09-19-2014 I posted that I will release a "teaser" demo on the first 30 minutes into the game, but because it's nothing but cut scene and tidbit of the story, I'm gonna put in an hour instead.. What I need to know is what do people like to see on a demo? I haven't touch any rpg maker games since 2010 so I forgot the dos and don'ts on this. RE: What's on your mind? - greenraven - 09-19-2014 Generally gameplay mechanics, but if you're using stock defaults then don't bother. Other than that things that might stand out about your game: Collectables, minigames, vehicles, romance options, anything that comes to mind that makes your game "unique". Also 30 minutes is more than enough for a demo, 1 hour is overkill. I found that people aren't generally all that invested in playing demos for an extended period of time. With demos people just want to see a quick glimpse of what the game is about, they don't want to play it. RE: What's on your mind? - Ahzoh - 09-23-2014 Story idea of mine: It involves that there were three mage factions that violently opposed each other, but eventually decided to unite when they realized, despite their ideological differences, they had many ideological similarities as well. They formed a union called r-Ghadij r-Matqam whose influence spread across continents. To spread their influence they formed an Army called Talum r-Rrayya "Gates of Rrayya". Eventually the Ghadij bit more than they could chew and came into opposition with the Qamic Empire. They found themselves in a war against an army whose forces outmatched and outnumbered them. Desperate to win, the Ghadij utilized all of their knowledge of teleportation magic to open up a portal to a dimension known as Akrideas so that they could look for resources that they could use to destroy their enemies, especially the elusive "riftweed", something durable and light, only growing between rifts of other worlds. Sending their Talum r-Rrayya, they come across the creatures that inhabited Akrideas, realizing it were the creatures that lived in their world long ago, known as the Khsinesh. While the Talum saw them as enemies of old, so too did the Khsinesh, and having seen the progress of the human world, sought to eliminate their presence. So begins yet another war, but the main story focuses on two brothers, their sister and childhood friend as they are tasked with ending it once and for all. RE: What's on your mind? - greenraven - 09-23-2014 Sounds interesting. Plan on doing anything with it? Book? Game? Video? RE: What's on your mind? - Ahzoh - 09-23-2014 I don't know, maybe videogame, but I very inexperienced. I tried novel, but I suck at generating ideas and im a procrastinator. |
