RE: What's on your mind? - yamina-chan - 11-16-2014 I'm currently watching a recording of a of a D&D Session/Pannel from last year. The game takes place in the Universe of the Alien movies. At the point where I am right now, getting close to the end, there has a slight "argument" started between one of the players and the DM/GM. (All in good fun, mind you.) Here's part of it: Player: "In Alien 2, Rippley threatened the eggs with a Flamethrower and they [the Aliens] backed off!" GM: "I know." Player: "Then don't say they are 'perfect killing machienes who don't know fear'. They know fear!" GM: "It's not fear, it's caution. There's a diffrence." Player: "No there isn't?!" GM: "Yes there is!" Player: "No there isn't!" GM: "I'm Batman!" I feel I have to give the later props, for a out-of-no-where-has-nothing-to-do-with-anything argument point XD RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 11-16-2014 vikings were described to have been hunting mammoths and intermingling with ancient non human species as recently as the time of the pyramids. they were impressed and respectful of the strength of native americans too. for all their carnage spreading ways, they knew how to recognize game in a big way. RE: What's on your mind? - Pherione - 11-16-2014 Mammoths extinct at (latest) 1650BC. Viking age: 8th to late 11th century AD and the fact that they were barbarians and savages spreading carnage was a misconception by the christians of that time. Not really seeing a viking killing a mammoth...unless they can travel in time. That would be cool. RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 11-16-2014 what about fighting with pre man hominids? i'll have to look into mammoth thing more, i thought i read about it somewhere RE: What's on your mind? - Pherione - 11-16-2014 Humans (including Neanderthals) have been known to have hunted mammoths (and Homo Sapiens even used their bones to build houses). The scientific world is divided as to whether the mammoth species were killed off by the humans (overhunted), climate change during the Holocene or a combination thereof. Or a disease. As for consuming mammoth meat, the Homo Erectus already had mammoth on the menu, but it's unclear if they actually hunted or scavenged. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 11-16-2014 (11-16-2014, 11:05 AM)Ahzoh Wrote: That doesn't make sense, Neanderthals were phased out as a subspecies by humans as they kept mating with them. That may be for the general populace, but there had been discussions how some may have stayed apart (except in conflicts with man) Quote:Even closer to our time, the Vikings had tales of having done battle with creatures, who were part man and part beast. Scholars have surmised that possibly, these were the last remnants of the Neanderthals. These encounters have received attention of late by fiction writers. And Michael Crichton's book was supposedly based on an eyewitness account. Ooooooohhh! https://sites.google.com/site/sciencemysteries/neanderthals RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 11-17-2014 only the first three chapters. the rest of the book is beowulf, but changed just enough to troll some guy who told him beowulf was boring. also TIL bigfoot is a neanderthal, but also the ancient space-alien spirit-guardian of earth. RE: What's on your mind? - yamina-chan - 11-17-2014 I am not sure what thoughts exactly are on my mind at the moment. But I can say that I am sad. Content Hidden |
