RE: What's up, RMers? - Steel Beast 6Beets - 03-09-2024 What kyonides said. This reeks of being a quick cash grab. The current state of RPG Maker is truly pitiful. Yeah it's kind of a dead give away every time, they can't fool the older more experienced users anymore so they are changing their demographic to children is what I'm seeing here. Not to say only kids use the switch, but its only young people or morons who would conceivably try to use a console-restricted engine to make a game. No custom music No custom art No coding May as well play Little Big Planet. Still, every time they pull something like this, I get a kick out of watching them fail. The Unite shit-show being a recent highlight. But enough negativity, Remi! I can't even downvote the post on this forum, its not FAIR!!! Well lucky for all of you, i have far more productive things in store than me just bitching and being chaotic lawless. 3/14 is fast approaching, and like with every march 14th, I tend to go ham on trying to make it a day of celebration, as it is the day in which 13 years ago now, i released Intelligence in its very first build, but even more than that-- it is the day when the Crazy Chimp Collective was formed from a braintrust of like-minded equals- equals who have helped me make all the crazy games I have. no Fantasia build this year, Pjcr and Xiie are still trying to get their lives sorted after all the Covid nonsense and while there's potential they could be back into the main game any day now, I can't rely on that for the Fantasia game, as there is just too many unfactored variables. Though it is not to worry, for I finally buckled down and worked some more on Junked as you may have seen. It's second Demo will release on 3/14, the 11th Anniversary of the CCC. i will also be going back to making the epic six minute presentation videos. I have a lot to be proud of this year, during its span i released the first public demo of FLIGHT, Got a second Demo ready for JUNKED, did loads of really nice art- some of which ended up in an art exhibition all my own. Began a series of videos aptly named the Starchaser Series and more properly defined both my brand and reminded everyone of why I am here. Took my first real delve into singing, moved to a house which has been an amazing stay- there is so very much that has happened in such a relatively small span of time! Hit 2,000 followers on twitter and that number doesn't stop increasing. Almost at 250 subs on youtube, that one has been difficult! But for this thread today, you already can see what is coming in regards to Junked, so instead i will share some of the new updated portraits for Fantasia! Anathema They are all done. Only showing some here. Senshi This is Senshi, all things considered a fairly minor character. But she does show up in an optional event cinematic so I put her portrait on priority. She's a blood-elemented Nekomata. All her and Anathema's art is credit to Pjcr, the portrait artist of Fantasia. Optional Scene 03 - Extinction's End This is the cinematic she has a small role in. She's a friend of Anathema, and this cinematic was to highlight the friendships and familial bonds forged after a nine-part two-branch optional event chain. The entire ordeal of which is to find a means to repopulate the Nekomata who had been reduced to a population of only females, making the conventional means impossible. And just because I can't get enough of Misha's voice acting for Anathema, here's the Bloodletter at her peak. On my end, I finally finished a sidequest that I had floating around for what seems to be months. Also, did you know that in XP you could preview a message by pressing F2? ... I didn't. I've been using XP for years and I had no idea you could do this. Silly me. RE: What's up, RMers? - kyonides - 03-13-2024 I do think the help file mentions something about the F2 button. Yet, I learned about that, years ago, after working o a VX or VX ACE project, and then going back to XP. Later I pressed the button out of curiosity, and found out it worked. I accidentally pressed the button and a preview of the message I was editing popped out. Then I consulted the help button and realized that was a thing that could be done. It boggles the mind, it truly does. Heavy is the Crown of the Lightweight Leech King. What I'm saying with that poorly composed metaphor is that RPGMaker has gone straight downhill due to its love of money outpacing customer satisfaction, aka- being a leech. Slowly but VERY surely they have reached lower and lower lows. Even the juggernaut of RPGmaker Forums (RPGmakerWebs) is an unstable mess that is going down for maintenance CONSTANTLY. It really is a mystifying though elating time when Save-point and other fringe communities are the most stable of them all! Some of you may know, RPGmakerCentral, formerly RPGmakerVXAce.net, is fully dead. And Rpgmaker network while not yet dead, is resting in the ground with its arms crossed over its chest. We might be the last one standing once the juggernaut falls, won't that be interesting! I'll hang that over Touchfuzzy's head FOREVAH! Oh uh, it's 3/14 by the way!? Hum, why is that important? Well, beyond it being Pi Day, it is also the day when I formed the Crazy Chimp Collective. So of course, I go utterly apeshit with such a day. It is now our 11th Anniversary! I have released a second demo for Junked (On itch.io only so far) and made an epic video to celebrate the day! Judgement in the Eleventh Year Please enjoy it~! Junked Demo 2: https://remichan.itch.io/junked The auditions for Xali went very well, 45 auditions submitted, and among 1 finalists, I got them down to four, then finally decided on one! A lass by the name of Skylar Artaggat was selected for the role. In the video above I reveal her amazing audition. RE: What's up, RMers? - Remi-chan - 03-24-2024 Small news but neat all the same. I found a voice for the role of Xaela. Her audition is perfectly terrifying Props to Roo Ryder for this immaculate sample which I then filtered and had fun with. RE: What's up, RMers? - Remi-chan - 03-27-2024 It appears I might have a cold, oh dears! On the upside, this'll probably end up with me being more productive, but we'll see! Not that i haven't been productive already. I recently found two very useful plugins by Tsukihime which should not only make ingame dialogue and choice systems easier to work with, but also make it very easy to create menu subsystems for my custom menu idea. I likely will begin on prepping the main menu assets and working out all the kinks in my editor soon. starting with a localized event versionin a map i use for debugging, to then expand it into common events that can be called from anywhere when needed. The submenus such as most of the Database entries, will need more time to uh... to COOK! But i can probably get started on Pamphlets just to test it out and get things started, then i have a Blueprint for Borchures, Medals, Tutorrials, and all the other database categories. Database is basically an entire re-imagining of the item_scene. While playing with this new large choices plugin by Tsukihime or Himeworks, I couldn't help but have some fun with it. I also updated the portraits of Kloe, Kyon and Kira to have their tails and wings. RE: What's up, RMers? - Remi-chan - 04-08-2024 The custom menus I showed previews of earlier have made good headway in the engine proper! In fact, all that remains is the submenus for the database, profiles and the optional event dossier in missions. Then once that's all done I've gotta export the currently evented system into comment events. That or just use a plugin which allows me to call events from one map anywhere in the game. Xali's official voice actor: Skylar Artaggat, has delivered her lines! I have paid her accordingly and made this preview! Enjoy~ RE: What's up, RMers? - DerVVulfman - 04-08-2024 Remi-chan will tell you that I have a LOT of projects in the works. Most of them are forum related. But let me show you a little sideline project... First reaction people gave was "Minecraft!" To me, well.... I'd say Terraria given it is sideview. And yes, you do see that this setup allows for both the excavation of tiles and their application where I specify with a cursor, this as it is intended. This system was indeed dubbed minecraft by the original author, RD12 from Portugal (based on the use of Google Translate). But this 2008 project had a series of issues, particularly the clunky means it used to destroy blocks based on which excavation tool you equipped. This I fixed up and made a bit easier to figure out. And there were a series of non-standard coding issues that would have made some classic coders back in the day gag. This is still more of a beta stage as there are some things to work out. First,, you cannot go from map to map without all the excavations and buildings vanish upon return. So it appears I need to implement a dynamic maps setup to the package. And second, it is set up to be 'Terraria-Only', unable to go to a regular map with regular movement as the system has the player and event movement and character tile system fixed. But I have done plenty of investigation into where these may be disabled. The only question I have there is... how to enable/disable the maps? There are other considerations, but these are two issues which puts into perspective why it is not out yet. |
