RE: What's on your mind? - Bounty Hunter Lani - 08-08-2016 I came up with an interesting idea for a Youtube video series... I might post it up in the "What are Youtubing?" thread if I like how it turns out Also, my weeks always seem to get REALLY busy right when I have a lot of things that I already need to do... so it's like, double-busy. Super weird. At least lots of things are being taken care of this week, so I can't really complain. RE: What's on your mind? - KDC - 08-09-2016 Oh my GOD my kitten took a spray of water like a trooper!!! O_O RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-09-2016 I just went and performed a bit of security maintenance. Why? My system detected ... ATTEMPTED INTRUSION!!!!! Code: 192.168,10.254 These TWO miscreants tried to get into my PC. And before you ask, I already recognize the two set prefix of 192.168 belonging to a Russian/Ukranian site. I could say something about me being able to squish this immediately vs a particular political campaigner's poorly secured server but... nah. RE: What's on your mind? - KDC - 08-16-2016 So People from who knows where are still trying to log in my LogMeIn account. Hah! I guess the I fooled some hackers or something. RE: What's on your mind? - Python Blue - 08-17-2016 Yesterday I finally gave up on trying to make a skybox work in Amnesia's engine, at least for a bit. Unfortunately, the current version of the game introduced a bug that shows only one face of a skybox wrapped on all six faces of the cubemap. Sadly, the last update was over a year ago, so I doubt Frictional is willing to fix it... RE: What's on your mind? - Bounty Hunter Lani - 08-18-2016 Let's see... what's on my mind this time? *Digs through my mind* . . . *Pulls out a chainsaw* Oh. How did THAT get there?! . . . AHA! FOUND YA, BUGGERS! 1 - Since making a Twitter, I've connected with a few very nice people, a few musicians, and a few bots who follow me because I say a keyword in their auto-follow system. It's pretty cool, but I'm still not very fond of Twitter itself. Maybe it'll grow on me, but right now, The Twitter is weird to me. 2 - I just checked my Ideas.txt file, and it's as long as a DerVVulfman script. I should probably start putting those ideas into my game soon, the darn file has so much stuff in it! 3 - I kept seeing a certain large Youtuber using someone's music without permission, and the musician finally got tired of the lack of communication, so he placed Copyright Strikes on TWO videos to wake the Youtuber up. And boy, was the communication swift afterwards. Make sure you have permission before using a song, people. That should be obvious by now. 4 - I discovered the history of the Wilhelm Scream, and I'm surprised the sound guys get it by so many directors at this point. Do they not watch their own movie before it comes out? Or maybe the sound guys cough REALLY loudly during a screening, so nobody hears it? 5 - I got some really cool banner under my name. I like it. I'm all decked out for Christmas with the Red and Green now! If only Christmas weren't so far away... RE: What's on your mind? - MetalRenard - 08-18-2016 Sound the fanfares. I'm back from my holiday. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-18-2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccfe1jHZNK4 RE: What's on your mind? - Python Blue - 08-18-2016 Welcome back, MetalRenard. :) Update regarding my skybox frustration: using 3D modeling and a little bit of scripting, I managed to make an alternative that not only looks okay (though it does blur a tiny bit), but also does more than the actual skyboxes could offer in Amnesia/HPL2. :) My solution was to create a sphere in Blender, duplicate it across multiple sizes, and set the alpha level of the colors for each duplicate to a very low level. With enough trial and error of this method, I managed to create a skybox that also acts as a fog effect. :) The only major obstacle in the way wasn't the model itself, but, in fact, how scripting can make it follow the player: the scripts as they are right now only make it possible to transport objects to your feet, not your face/the camera, meaning there's a tiny bit of alpha color overlap due to the center area of the spheres being further down than the camera, at a distance that also appears to vary depending on what physical activity the player is doing (i.e. crouching or jumping). I didn't manage to solve this problem completely, but I think I made it subtle enough through scripting, at least. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-21-2016 OW OW OW OW OW OW OW!!!!!!!! I got a KNOT the size of a tennis ball on my leg thanks to the weight of a freakin riding lawnmower striking me. YEEEEEOUCH! Oh, my leg is not broken or anything. But it hurts dammit! |
