Well, they expect Flynn to plead Guilty to giving false information during the FBI investigation.... and well Donald already pardoned ONE turkey so... hmmm...

RE: What's on your mind? - JayRay - 12-01-2017

Here's what's on my mind...

Here I am battling the cold, I've got Sore Throat Lozenges, Halls Cough drops, Allergy pills (for the Diphenhydramine) and a big roll of TP at my desk.... and they decide TODAY they'd give everyone ice cream floats... I can't have milk products right now because of that whole mucus stuffy head stuff, but that's NOT fair! I want Root Bear Floats! I want Orange Cream Soda Floats! I want Dr.Pepper Floats! GRRRR!

RE: What's on your mind? - Ahzoh - 12-02-2017

I've progressed on the map:

My other conlang Ngucamic indicates plurality through gemination (doubling) of consonants (and as such, they are pronounced doubly as long):

city - m̃ók [ŋ͡mɔ́k]
cities - ā m̃m̃ók [aː ŋ͡mɡ͡bɔ́k]

ocean - ṭzíkg [t͡sˤík͡x]
oceans - ā ṭṭzíkg [aː t͡ːsˤík͡x]

river - cȁm [qàːm]
rivers - ā ccȁm [aː qːàːm]

word - pȁkga̋ [pàːk͡xáː]
words - ā ppȁkga̋ [aː pːàːk͡xáː]

The morpheme (basic unit of grammatical meaning) ā is often dropped in casual speech.

That a really does look more like an article to indicate plurality than just a basic morpheme that shows up every other day in speech or writing. For some reason I ended up hating articles, they seem pointless if your nouns and adjectives do have a clear way to denote their declination or plurality. Well, I'm also looking for ways to avoid using prepositions as much as possible, but sometimes it gets hard to display the slight differences between going to some new location and beginning to walk away from a specific point.

Does that map belong to a single concountry? Or does it reflect the existence of several city states?

Articles only indicate definiteness or indefiniteness, of which ā does neither. The morpheme ā is a different particle. But it only exists in formal writing and speech and lost elsewhere. It comes from a particle āp of which the p assimilated to certain adjacent consonants while the unassimilated version of it is lost, rather like this:
Quote:Development of initial geminates in certain syntactic contexts due to word-initial mutations resulting from sandhi effects:

ad kasa > ak‿kasa
ad > a
ak‿kasa now reanalyzed as a kkasa

Then musu, coined centuries after a lost its final /d/, becomes mmusu after a because it's a regular morphosyntactic process now

Prepositions (or post positions) are necessary, but some can be expressed in cases:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_grammatical_cases
But you can't add too many of them, as that is kitchen-sinky and very unlikely cross-linguistically. Cases also come into existence based on a hierarchy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Case_hierarchy
Some can also be expressed as verbs-of-direction such as "to go in/enter" and "to go out/exit" or "to go towards/arrive" and "to go away/leave".

You might also want to look into deciding whether your language is head-initial, head-final, or a mix of both:

The names in black on the map are all nations spanning a small section of continent. the blue names are their capitals.
The one important thing I've learned about rivers is that they can combine into a bigger river, but can they NEVER split.

Can we forumers invade it and fill our coffers with all the treasures we find there and leave them hopeless? :P

The kes particle in my conlang has changed its uses during the course of its development, or should I say the story of my conworld instead?

Why do your coninhabitants add up the second consonant or character at the beginning? I mean, it sure makes it harder to pronounce it to make clear it's a plural form of the term in cases like mm or so. Isn't there any exceptions to the rule? (No double initial letter but another kind of affix perhaps.)

Well, they'd have their own writing system, but this doubling up of consonants indicates the consonant is pronounced twice as long, just as a double vowel indicates the vowel is produced twice as long.
It takes training to tell a "short m" from a "long m", although in this language, the second "m" would become a "b".
The language also has this funny consonant, "m̃", that sounds like this:

The only exceptions are words that begin with vowels, because they have no consonants.

Hehehe... Damn right I do!  Dialup saved the forum!

ODDLY... this is my secondary account where I received the eMail. I use this one more often because of the cool username.  The account I made when I first signed up (my primary) never received the eMail.

RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 12-07-2017

I have recently posted a new chapter of my story Black Collars entitled Second Prison. This time we will learn what are the latest consequences of being Fake Windy's hostage and how Patrick Bodkin tries to deal with his lame situation.

I also wanna complain about how police officers in my country look like real goofs, there was one that fired at a tire to prevent a so called suspect from escaping by driving off. Do you guess what happened next? The suspects complained about excessive use of force! The officer's superiors opened an investigation to confirm if he fired his gun and put third parties in danger. It is probable he will get suspended or even fired! It looks like criminals here have more rights and permissions than the average citizen or even cops!

This is a short enumeration of poems I've written in the past few days, Some Sudden Reminder, Modern Treasure Chests, About Pills and Voices, My Friends' Lovely Presents and Your Trustworthy Salesman.
