RE: What's on your mind? - MetalRenard - 12-28-2017 Upgrading my laptop! I just purchased a 1tb Western Digital "Black" (aka high performance, 7200 rpm) HDD and caddy to replace my optical drive which I've used a grand total of twice in a year. It already has an SSD (system) and 1tb HDD (storage) but I need the faster drive and extra tb to install all my music software and virtual instruments (which stream constantly from the HDD during playback in my audio software, hence the high performance requirement). Later, I will also replace the original HDD with a high capacity drive (2 or more tb minimum) for storage purposes and backup. I'm thinking... Seagate FireCuda, 2tb SSHD or just a standard 5400 rpm HDD. The point is that I will be travelling for most of next (school) year as I'm going to live in Japan in August with my partner. I don't want to have to lag around an external HDD too, which, in addition, will probably just get broken anyway. My laptop needs to be able to run all my software and have enough capacity for all my music production, youtube video creation and gaming needs. Sorry to gush by this is always so exciting. ^_^ RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 12-28-2017 Early Transformers episodes were kind of childish by nature, but I'm not talking about their plots but their so called discoveries or inventions. How many times did Autobots or mere humans find a way to produce unlimited energy and still, Megatron and his lame lackeys managed to screw it up? That did not include all of Wheeljack's pathetic machines that blew up in no time... Even so humankind in the show and real life is as power hungry as never before... You have that? That's wonderful! Really good stuff! RE: What's on your mind? - MetalRenard - 12-29-2017 Mine's similar. I love the red keyboard and red design of yours. Mine is actually a little more powerful but less stylish - I have a more recent processor (6700HQ) and 16 gigs of DDR4 RAM (most recent type of RAM) including a GForce 960M with 2GB memory. I use it for music production which is EXTREMELY demanding, more so than any game, so it has to be a monster. Here, I have this one: Asus VivoBook Pro Like I said, I need more storage so I'm upgrading that. I need minimum 3TB, 1 is clearly not enough for my software (700+GB of virtual instruments) plus all my recordings (500GB worth after all these years) and my videos for YouTube. I don't smoke or drink, I live simply, below my means so I can put money towards things that are important like making life simpler, easier or more comfortable. Plus getting a raise helps. ^_^ RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 12-30-2017 OK, I feel a bit better now that I finished coding my Klearance XP and VX scripts, even if XP version is the only one that enables the player to hack special doors by using a so called decoder to force unlock the door... Just take a look at the XP demo! :P I still need to watch some good anime or movie... but I just don't know what to watch now... RE: What's on your mind? - Ahzoh - 12-30-2017 My vertical seal bone script is turning out pretty well. On the right side, it is fully marked to indicate vowels: RE: What's on your mind? - MetalRenard - 12-30-2017 First new HDD installed! High performance: Yep! RE: What's on your mind? - MetalRenard - 12-30-2017 First new HDD installed! High performance: Yep! RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 12-31-2017 I updated my Klearance (and GiveAway) scripts letting it become more useful, since I only uploaded demos it should let people take a grasp on how to use my script properly. Even so its learning curve isn't steep in my own opinion. Sadly, I hate when I'm out of scripting ideas after finishing a new script that might be widely used... or not. I even thought game projects like Yesteryear could take advantage of it because its story includes modern and futuristic settings were special locks / doors should be quite common or normal to be found in labs or any other safe buildings. Plus, who does not like to feel the thrill of hacking anything while looking around just in case anybody is watching over you... :/ |
