RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-24-2019 Things are worsening for my dad, and I feel I cannot care for him anymore. He refuses to eat, and all he wants to drink is water. I don't think I have any choice but to have him in a home where he can get better treatment than what I can give. The hospice is working on finding a location, but first claimed I can get a 5-day respite. And during this respite, they can work to find better accommodations. But the respite has been delayed time and time again. Applied for the respite on Monday, a nurse called Tuesday for a Wednesday visit. At that point, she gave my father a sub-dermal injection to test for T.B., claiming she has to ensure he doesn't have Tuberculosis before he can leave. The test would require she comes back Friday. Friday rolled around and it came back negative... a good result. From then, she passed control to a Social worker show was to find a Medical Facility for my dad. She found a Facility and contacted them with the proper papers, but said another nurse had to visit to ensure he was in a valid condition to be transported, and that she was to call on both Friday and Saturday. There was no Friday followup with the other nurse, only the Saturday call. She verified he was good to go, but the Facility where he was to go claimed not to have the records for my father. They admit they had contact with the social worker, but lost all medical records faxed, and the Social Worker will not be in the office until Monday. So a five day respite is taking a week to obtain. With all this time spent, they might just have found the permanent home with better treatment than I could give first. EDIT: The ambulance arrived. The Hospice was non-plussed that the Medical Facility that initially said could take them in lost the paperwork and knew nothing this morning until they admitted there was a contact. So the Hospice group said he could stay at their own location, one that apparently was much better in their viewpoint. That, and they thought the whole scenario was 'shady' in the words of the weekend social worker who contacted me. This is painful. Dementia causes severe depression, and dad is going to be wondering where he is and I fear he's going to increase the depression. But they may help since he's not eating or drinking anything but water. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-25-2019 Five hours ago, my father passed away. RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 08-25-2019 Sometimes it might be better to let it go than staying in a state of uncertainty for a long time, watching someone we know well losing his essence at any pace. At the end we should know those sick people were suffering and deserved some rest from all those issues that stole their peace. Even so I can tell you it was unexpected to learn about it just after he finally got some help and special care. O_o Perhaps it was more advanced than they could ever foresee. Be strong and don't let your bugs bite more people, werewolf hybrid. Yeah, we need a bit of humor sense even under the present circumstances. RE: What's on your mind? - KDC - 08-29-2019 Finally. I downloaded all, but the Unreal Engine, that I wanted to download. Including an Anti-Virus (just in case), and some start menu replacement (because why not). RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-29-2019 Make backups on an external HDD ;) It helps. For me, I just got a suit. Tomorrow is the day. I'm going to be at the Funeral Home for some hours for the viewing. And Friday is the funeral procession to the cemetery. I actually used to do that.... till the casing of an external HDD broke. Now I just have two IDE HDDs that possibly have something in them, but have no way of seeing what's even in them in the first place. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-30-2019 Today was the viewing at the Funeral Home. Dad was the youngest of the siblings, so there weren't many on his side of the family showing. No full-brothers, I only have half-brothers. And of them, only those on my Mom's side showed. However, the one on my Dad's side wasn't at fault... Dad didn't have his current phone number. But relatives came by. And I got support from work, friends and next-door neighbors. Tomorrow is the Cemetery. The procession begins at 10:30. RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 08-30-2019 Err... take your time!? Don't need to stay away till dawn. RE: What's on your mind? - KDC - 08-31-2019 If there's one thing I like about Gran Turismo 6, it's the fact that you can have the CPU drive for you when you are busy with something else. Though.... It does seem like I'm not really playing though, just giving a CPU player commands mainly. Oh yeah. I have a CRT TV now, meaning that I now have two TVs. The CRT TV is mainly for those systems that don't have any way of going HD, via Component Cable (if it works for that system) or HDMI. I plugged my PlayStation 2 into it because I don't have any games that upscale, and if I do, the display shows no color, and it's pretty much distorted (The component cable is old), unless it's on 1080p. Which I don't have a game that goes that high. I'm currently using that same component cable on my PlayStation 3, to lighten the stress on the only HDMI port of my main TV. So yeah... I kind of got something that let me go Retro a little bit. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 09-01-2019 Well, KDC.... you can now play Duck Hunt on your Nintendo now. Dang Light Gun won't work with any TV other than CRTs. So go. Try n shoot that annoying mutt. |
