RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 04-07-2024 I didn't feel it. And a friend of mine in upper NY had no idea that it even happened. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 06-10-2024 If anyone saw an account appear and then go poof... https://verifymail.io/domain/wsym.de The registration clearly states... Disposables are a no-no that gets ya kicked. And this is just one of three services that said its a big oof. RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 07-08-2024 I think it's amazing to see how inexpensive food was in the US just a few years ago. But nowadays people down here in Costa Rica can still buy 2 combos or even 2 burgers while in the States you'd just get a single one! Take in consideration than inflation in my country usually ranges from 5% to 15%... RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 07-15-2024 Amazed to hear some people say that Trump should have been killed yesterday. That wouldn't surprise me if talking about the Democrats but why do some Latinos in the region wish the sniper had not failed his assassination attempt? It seems Trump isn't the first and probably not the last GOP candidate or president in US history to survive such an attempt. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 07-25-2024 Ya know how they say trouble comes in Threes? They're not kidding. TROUBLE ONE: A couple weeks ago, my AC died. That is to say, the compressor unit behind my house. It was a nice 95 degrees fahrenheit (or 35 Celsius) in the housee by the time I managed to get someone to come by to see what is what. The technician that came by examined and 'kick-started' my compressor, getting it to work once more. But his work was akin to Han Solo flipping switches in the Millenium Falcon... the lights going out... and him punching the wall to get the lights back on. The compressor has some corrosion that means it will not last long. But for now it is working. I do need to have a new AC unit installed, not just the outside compressor but the entire unit inside the house as well. Why might you ask? The unit is 15 years old. Now that doesn't seem like a long time, and it normally would not. However, President Obama passed legislation that banned the coolant used within the AC unit. And as a result, no new Compressor will work with an indoor unit such as the one I have. Joy, oh joy. It will cost a good chunk of change, enough to buy a car. TROUBLE TWO: I managed to wrangle up enough money to get the AC going, and I received... the County Tax Bill. Now, it is essentially cheaper (in the long run) than renting... But damn, it came at the worst possible time. On top of that, the tax bill is hella ridiculous in price. Point of fact, within the past three years, the tax bill has increased by unusual leaps and bounds. And now, the tax bill for this year is 25% higher than it was three years ago. Until recently, the property tax had never risen at such a rate. Greeaaaat. Well, I wrote a check and sent it off to the County as I needed. Aka, so much for the AC unit. Gotta wrangle up some more ca---- Oh, no.... TROUBLE THREE: Well, damn. While working in the basement, something just PEACHY happened. A guy knocked on the door and said someone HIT MY DAMN CAR!!!! Indeed, it surely happened. THANKFULLY, it is the driver's side front wheel and I can apparently steer! I backed up... drove forward... yeah, it seems okay to drive. But who wants just that with a big honkin hit on the driver's side? And the car's been mine since 2005! A 2003 Silver Sable (damn, Mercury sure knew how to build em... not my first)... this car is only 4 years from being a Historic! I got a hold of my insurance, and they suggested some 'recognized' garages under their belt. HAH, one is not far from one of my grocery stores. So tomorrow... I'm driving over (and walking home). Ugh, walking in this weather is gonna be meh. But I've walked this before... It'll be like when I used to walk to Middle School (which itself is like ... on the way). Yes, trouble coming in threes.... There better not be a fourth. RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 07-31-2024 (07-25-2024, 01:27 AM)DerVVulfman Wrote: Yes, trouble coming in threes.... Damn Damn Damn Damn DAMN! TROUBLE FOUR: Today, I went to the Garage... that is to be expected as I had an appointment for a 'look'over for the estimate, an estimate that is to be eMailed/Phoned to me. SO OF COURSE, AT 5PM my internet died. I am CURRENTLY at the library in 'chat' with my provider. I hope/need it be resolved soon. RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 08-10-2024 If I had to pick the word of the day, I'd choose mix for sure. I had a bit of pizza salty crackers some beverages, present tense, past tense, present continous, Thales' theoreme, parallel and intersecting lines, body parts, and some casual talk about the airplane that crashed in Brazil a few days ago. RE: What's on your mind? - Remi-chan - 08-14-2024 Ya girl has no teeth lmao. Well, not entirely true, i still have a couple in my bottom row so i can look like an orc if i push out my underbite I'll be getting dentures in a few months then my teeth will probably look the best they have ever! I'll go back to looking like im somehow a third of my age again thanks crazy ass genetics lmaaaaooo RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 08-19-2024 (07-31-2024, 05:16 PM)DerVVulfman Wrote: TROUBLE FOUR: The Neverending Story Pt III Sorry, no Falcor here. So, my car has been to and fro the garage recommended by the insurance company. And two weeks ago, I had a lengthy talk with a representative whom found out that the mechanic was not forthcoming about the damage; that the car's parts have been discontinued and cannot be repaired. Yes, the insurance representative called the garage, and had to verify all this from the mechanic; I chose to stay on-hold all this time. After the call, the representative informed me that it was indeed going to be passed to the department whom Totals the car, and that I was to receive a call by next Friday. Not the "This Friday" which meant within the week, but the Friday next. At least, that I gathered, assumed and waited... "Next Friday" was the Friday that had passed, and I received nothing. So I called the Insurance Company, and found out that the Garage had not sent anything regarding the car's condition of being Totaled. The agent I spoke to attempted to call, but could not contact anything but voicemail to the two phone numbers I had for the garage. He told me that he (by He I expect a representative) would call when they received the paperwork or found out why the delay. I accepted that from the agent, but that was truly not good enough for me. Why would the garage not answer? I drove down in the car (carefully as the driver's side wheel is KerPlunkidished), and found that one number was the Repair Department Manager's number and he was on vacation. The other, I knew was the mechanic who I feel has been stalling. However, I also found that the Manager WAS to be showing up at work and be there all day. While at the garage, I spoke to the receptionist who recognized me since I had been down there a good half-a-dozen times, and she was a bit at a loss. She found the mechanic HAD created paperwork, but never submitted it to the manager. She found he noted it was to be Totaled, but gave absolutely no information as to why, as to parts unavailable, or anything. She printed out the mechanic's document, and said that the moment she arrives tomorrow she will indeed give it to the Manager who will (1) submit it to the Insurance company, and hopefully (2) press the mechanic why nothing further was done and why nothing was even specified why it was totaled. BECAUSE MY BLOODY INTERNET IS DOWN!!!!! TROUBLE AND COUNTING!!! Indeed, the device that relays all the wifi signal in my house is dead. Amazingly, the phone and cable still works, but when one is expecting eMails, does maintenance for the forum (I was about to look into a replacement for the Forum Stats window), and other things... its STOOPID! I am hoping to reconnect some time tomorrow. The day after at the latest. Doesn't mean I might not swing by the library (in the busted wheel car)... |
