I asked for some advice on your part.

I'll probably be switching to Steam OS as soon as Valve adds Nvidia GPU support into it. Bazzite was an option, but... the requirements require half of the RAM I have. (I have 16 GB RAM), so I avoided it. I ended up choosing Arch Linux. O.o As soon as things are set up and redownloaded (cause I have to also reformat my external HDD after backups, I'm gonna have to figure out how to turn on Scroll lock, so that my keyboard can light up. It's hard seeing what letter I'm typing when my keyboard ain't glowing. O.o

Well, a third just shouted "Linux Zorin OS runs steam very well, as long you don't forget enabling priton 9.0"

What he means is Proton 9.0, guys. Happy with a sweat

Err, that depends a lot on what kind of game your talking about. For instance, RM software usually runs fine on Proton 7.0, and I think it's the same for games like FF7 or FF8. Recent games like those released in the last couple of years might run better on version 9.0, I'd say. Thinking

Oh. I remember trying that out on my Acer Aspire one time. O.o

I see. Makes me wonder what version of Proton made Umamusmue: Pretty Derby run on my SSD. Probably Version 9. But good to know what version of Proton to use for the RPG Makers I have on Steam.

RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 07-02-2026

Right now, my steam account let me open RMXP with Proton 9.0 as its compatibility layer. Shocked Now you can choose betwen version 7.0 and 9.0. Winking
And yes, I confirmed what I said earlier about FF7 and FF8. Laughing
Happy with a sweat Well, I also have the FF3 and FF4 3D editions there. Proton 7.0 or later seem to be working. Thinking

Reformatting my external HDD was a hassle, but I think I'm back on smooth roads now. I'm putting stuff I backed up in a laptop, and a flash drive, into the external HDD. That means.... I'm gonna be able to use it without problems~! :D I... also probably will have to use the Steam version of RPG Maker 2003 and RPG Maker XP too. O.o Good thing I have those on Steam. O.o

RE: What's on your mind? - KDC - 07-08-2026

So.... I might be jumping back onto Windows sooner than I thought. It turns out that a file was bugged, and was expanding to absurd levels, when I was on Windows 11. How the heck did Microsoft screw that up? The fix is coming soon, so I'm gonna stay on Linux until then, and until I know it's fixed, cause lately Microsoft, so far as I heard, has been breaking more things than updating and fixing them much. That single file bloated itself. O.o And I thought it was all of those updates all this time. o.o

In other things, I feel a bit overwhelmed by happenings, and things that I gotta deal with. Kinda had a small crash out about it last night. I'm gonna do my best to deal with it, so that it won't be as bad.

Glad I can still do game jams and make games in a relatively small time period assuming I don't overscope. Half my reason for doing this game jam was to prove to myself I could still bring it, and this last fortnight by god... I brought it!

Was fun to relax yesterday after getting it all done by playing the new palworld update with the fellas.
