RE: What's up, RMers? - Steel Beast 6Beets - 12-17-2022

Allrighty then! Download's done.

Unziping the files will take a while. Fine by me, I'll do my daily chores in the meanwhile.

EDIT: This is most likely on my computer's end but it tells me it's gonna take more than 4 hours to extract all the file

EDIT 2: Good news: the extraction only took 20 minutes despite my previous assessment. Bad News: my computer can't handle the game, the FPS drops to single digits to the point that it crashed before I even got out of Koko's room. I'll try again in my old laptop. Hopefully goes better this time.

EDIT 3: Good news, absolutely no problems running the game on my laptop. Some impressions so far.

- Koko the conspiracy theorist, complete with the Pepe Silva board

- Both Lumi and Lilac gave me the first impression of being the resident punching bag and the quintessential big sister bully respectively.
- Turns out Lumi can gave both Koko and Lilac a run for their money at sass and cutting remarks. I did not expect her to be into yaoi tho.
- And Lilac is a bit of a "grimdark edgelord" as her doll promptly commented or at least likes to behave like one. Her room certainly attests that.
- On that subject, the stairs inside the closets had me intrigued. Guess they will be investigated later.
- So does the "purple douchebag" patrolling the school.
- Guy got sent packing by Lumi. Her being a important member of the police force also caught me off guard. I agree with Koko's comment on that.
- One question about events. Those are missable, right? If so, then future events will depend on which were completed in the past, correct?
- the first race wasn't much trouble.
- The second race was until I noticed that little trick. As the description of the event stated, it wasn't entirely about speed.
- The dream encounters with the mysterious woman in white were a nice way to set up the plot.

So far so good. I will continue later.

Ayyy glad to hear about your experience so far!

And yeah, you can miss events. So best strat is just to do them when you see them! Some are chains as you suspected.

Oh yeah: Bundled with the release of Demo 3 is Simian Scandal 9.5!

Hopefully this serves to be entertaining!

Edit: Was alerted to this.

Oh no! it appears I've been found out! Yes, this is my church.

I attend Sunday school which teaches one how to make a joke without far-flung religious accusations that make no sense! How could you possibly have discovered my secret cabal of idiot children that worship enterbrain like a deity!?

It's truly inconceivable!

And is.

I think you might be on some heavy drugs and may I just ask, who the heck supplies you?

I want some.

Also, I've been around since 2007. So I'm pretty sure that 1. I've been using RPGmaker longer than you've been alive. And 2. I never once mentioned RPGmaker 2000-2003 so can you inform me what the hell you're on about? :0.

RE: What's up, RMers? - Kain Nobel - 12-24-2022

I'm not getting involved in the RPG Maker slap fight; I'd rather make my own game engine and not complain (wish us luck @_@)

Actually, I will get into the RPG Maker slap fight just a little; RPG Maker engines all have a lag issue and some minor things to work out architecturally. Hopefully we can do better, it's definitely a shot in the dark. And yes, I'm an ol' XP lover for life!

Anyways, here are two FOUR brand new music videos just in time for this cold winter holiday! Hopefully your heating system is working...

Cold, Dark Place

Exploring The Unknown

Funk You Up (Rough)

Dread and Despair

Also, I've posted all my music related videos (>> here <<).

I've also included a video of the Project Beast navigation demo (which uses very early pre-album versions of the music I'm working on, just to hear them in context.)

The album is almost done; 19 tracks have been fully recorded. I'll be revisiting some of the less flattering portions next year after I'm done double jobbing in the Biden economy, then it'll be official. Anything posted right now is rough draft and subject to change.

Ahaha, ah well~! I can't code so more power to you!

MV actually doesn't lag nearly as much. They went to a large effort to avoid that.

Want proof? This fight shows it best.

As for me. I've mostly been bugfixing things my various testers have found.

RE: What's up, RMers? - Kain Nobel - 12-27-2022

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned indeed, quite an impressive display of fireworks.

I hope everybody had a great Christmas!

Logan now has a crawling sprite (I just need to draw the belt / clean up some things). I've now got the full suite of actions (unless I add new ones.) Once I figure out who my "locked in" leader characters will be, they'll each have all the fieldmap actions. All heroes will have a full suite of battle actions + equipment. Their designs will be drafted 2023Q4 (I already have 4 drafted but they're top secret for now.)

Wrote another track for next year's jams. Looks like I have six musical pieces total, roughly 34 minutes of run time. Some of the strangest tunes I've ever penned, nothing follows the usual format, everything is a bit outside the comfort zone. Still, I believe I wrote to my ability, and some things should unlock new guitar skills if I do them right. I've never done any of that Dragon Force sweep picking nonsense, but I did facilitate the motor functions needed for sweep picking for a couple simple riffs. Blah blah blah, if I get better at this I should graduate to be able to do that kind of deal, blah blah blah.

I did write a track though which I'll probably donate to the cause if you like it (once I get to recording it.) It would be cool to collab on a track and have a Remi-Chan boss fight music video from hell! Burn the witches and dig the ditches.

I am heavily considering bringing you on as composer for my future projects. It would mostly depend on how good you are at working with pre-established leitmotifs

RE: What's up, RMers? - Kain Nobel - 12-29-2022

Shouldn't be a problem working with pre-established leitmotifs. Which soundtrack should I be focused on, the Fantasia OST? I've already heard the first 12 tracks, I feel I could work with this and come up with something fitting. I'll be coming back to listen to the rest, I'm curious where it goes from here.

Speaking of music, just uploaded a new track! This was one of the first tracks I wrote/recorded for this OST back in October, just finally got it cut, mixed, mastered, made into a video and uploaded.

Ambushed!

You can view that video and the all the others ( >> here << ).

Bold of you to assume I haven't already done a thorough examination of your soundcloud as well as that thread. I actually have had my eye on you as a potential candidate for a while! This isn't even the first time I've offered you the job. :0

As for Fantasia, it's already done~

But i will ever have new projects to make!

I actually already have a work order sheet up on my google docs for Seraphim! It's nowhere near finished. But you could definitely work on The Rising Hellstar if you wanted!

RE: What's up, RMers? - Kain Nobel - 12-30-2022

Hellrazer

Next year I do plan to do at least a track or two for your project, which is on the checklist. This is actually something I'm very much looking forward to doing (and hopefully I come up with something good excellent.) If it hasn't been composed by somebody else, I can do a track for "Rising Hellstar" in June. If I recall, don't you have a track called "Rising Hellstar" from one of the previous OSTs? If so, I'll definitely bookmark it and see if I can write a proper new version :D But I still probably won't get to it until June at the earliest.

I wouldn't be able to do an entire game soundtrack next year, of course, because there is too much on my plate right now, and it would be unfair to promise such a thing. I'd have to be making money to be doing a full OST at this current moment because inflation is still running rampant and I'm not comfortable with the current economic situation. I'll donate a track or two from the next EP to your project and that's already in the cards.

I'll be juggling two jobs shortly after the New Year, and I probably won't even be active on here again until the summertime. This isn't how I want things to be but it can't be helped. Then I have the 2023 checklist to contend with once the "job" wraps up sometime around June; then its on to the short music EP, and then some follow up with the REGAL development roadmap.

Once the situation changes, I might be open for a more collaborative role. I've been wanting to work with another developer / team for a while, but have always been too busy. I'd definitely be open to working with you in the future, so long as things aren't as crazy as they are right now.

Either way, hope everybody enjoys the new track :D I'm off to see what other videos need made, maybe I'll have everything posted by January 1st.

Correct, Rising Hellstar is a new character's theme, who requires a new leitmotif. So you'll get some creative liberty with that one

It's fine, Hell I won't even be able to start working on the game until about a year from now anyway.

Yeah, no hurry yet. I would love to have a demo by July, but you don't need to promise me that!

As for me, with so many optional events, I have video content for days!

So here's just one I uploaded recently!

Enjoy!
