What I meant was a lot simpler than your Scrolls fan script. Items would just disappear from your chest. You see, there's no way an NPC could realize if you've stolen an item or bought it somewhere else or simply got it as a prize or the typical loot. Enforcing such strange game logic in my script seems like totally off or even unfair. Confused
There might be a chance some specific items "get reported" as stolen. Or shopkeepers might notice later on that you kept selling stolen items to them every time you visited their shops. So only the party would get the flag in the worst case scenario.

Random question: has anyone here heard about Wolf RPG Editor? I saw it mentioned as a free-to-download alternative to RPG Maker but a bit less user-friendly due to most tutorials being available in Japanese only.

Graphics-wise, it seems to be on par with RM2K/RM2K3 and the couple of games I've seen actually use tilesets from those versions. The event editor seems much more advanced, though.

I vaguely heard of it. But now seeing its capabilities, I am going to add a thread regarding it within the TOOLS board and add it to Kenmachi Zaraki's LIST of GAME MAKERS when I can. Funny that it boasts Gamepad support as the others do, but mouse support is nice and having a map auto-generator is an interesting touch.

Certainly an alternative to Enterbrain's RM2K/3.

Oh, if enterbrainless put such effort to make an RMXPAce... upping the FPS to 80 (hehehe) ... re-include the facesets, the tileset changers, the vehicles, even the trigger-other-map-event commands that we scripters wrote, and (of course) duplicate how WE broke up the default scripts into smaller methods by way of the RMXP SDK that predates VX....

Ah, but I digress.

I am still working upon my Party Thievery script. And have made significant headway. By that, if the party steals from a castle armoury and one of the heroes decides to use a stolen sword... it shows up in his equipment menu as STOLEN! Even better, when un-equipping the blade, you can properly see it back in the party list as a stolen weapon.

Unfortunately, it does require rewrites of certain methods. The application of the theft icon atop the ill-gotten booty (or is that ill booten gotti?) and the feature to include both sets of item grab bags (stolen or otherwise) must be inserted within the middle of the refresh methods and drawing methods.

EDIT: Oh, this was difficult...

The EQUIP method required more work than I expected. It needed to know specifically if the item being removed was stolen as well as the item equipped. When you hover over any item in Scene_Equip, the system actively 'equips' and 'unequips' what you have highlighted. This caused problems with stolen items suddenly being added to the regular hash and visa versa.

Fortunately, that's been fixed. And I just added some new script calls.

Cleaning up the revised script now, big as it is.

Now that OpenChest optionally flags anybody taking stuff from chests as thieves and it keeps track of the original items, I'm out of ideas here. Sad

I bought an icon pack for 20$ where it said it includes 270 icons for swords and spears but in the end I only got 1 sword and 1 spear icon just in different colors and overlayed with different effects.
I am a bit disappointed now... :s

You got a link?  What (or who) to avoid?  Sounds like part of a proper critical review.

That's what happens when you don't wait for a sale. Winking
And I think I know which one it is. Confused

It was this one.

They mention the different elemental variatons but even if you divide 270 with the common 8 RPG elements you would still have 30+ different weapon icons. But in reality its just these two images from their example screenshots in different colors for each element.

Sounds like a blatant ripoff. I'd ask for a refund.
