Jay-Kaizer mashup? - JayRay - 10-08-2017 After a nice talk in IRC (and I would encourage you all to show up nightly at around 9:00 PM Central - 11:00 PM Central) DerVVulfman and I were talking about my frustration with the 'big bulbous heads' that most pixel templates have, and why I turned to pre-rendered stuff just to ensure that proportions were the way they should look for a person. Well... I started working that day on a template that combined several shading techniques, a new head style, and using the BODY of the ShowKaizer template as a base, made a "DaVinci Lite" template... Just throwing it out here... as it may become a resource. i didn't know if I should put it in the Art Gallery or here... but anyway... Let me know what you think... And now Good News/Bad News...[/b] Unfortunately, I DID have to make the female body approximately 5% smaller, so you may have to do some quick pixel editing to make any old ShowKaizer stuff fit the females... But, that should NOT be a problem... [/size] I tried to emulate a few oil/pastel washes to get the flesh-tones right, while preserving the pixelization sharpness and details. I dunno... whatcha think? (UPDATED October 8/2017, raised the ears a tiny bit on the facing down bits... and added females...) RE: Jay-Kaizer mashup? - JayRay - 10-08-2017 Here we go! RMVXAce/RMMV Base Sprites RMXP Base Sprites To ensure that everything fits, I'm going to first remaster and where necessary, re-shape everything I can from the original HK archives to fit the new shading and headsize (as well as the female 5% body reduction) before creating new items. Pieces Premade Characters RE: Jay-Kaizer mashup? - DerVVulfman - 10-08-2017 A straight-on 90° angle would normally let the ears be about the same level as the eyes. But the top-down RPG systems tend towards a 60° angle. So I think the ears need to be raised about a couple pixels in height. IF only for the angled perspective sake. Certainly better shading on this lot. And the Kaiser clothes should work fine for this template, except for the hair/head sections. But I DO think the original RTP eyes looked... like they were always apologizing for something. The brow/shape of the kaiser eyes might be a bit better. Perhaps show a before/after comparison or set of comparisons between yours and the original set by Showkaiser? Love to see what you do for the ladies. Go extreme and make the feet look less like toe-less boots? So yeah. I'd use these over the Half-Kaisers. Anyone else? RE: Jay-Kaizer mashup? - kyonides - 10-08-2017 I'd still need to check out female versions and many characters wearing actual clothes to see how they look like. Still, I think it's good to see there are people working on making new spritesets. Perhaps I might snatch some to include them in my Gosu game project Concerning those eyes... mmm, well... I can't tell for sure, are they crossed-eyed? RE: Jay-Kaizer mashup? - kyonides - 10-08-2017 Include XP versions as well! Not everybody loves VX Ace, you know XD RE: Jay-Kaizer mashup? - JayRay - 10-08-2017 Will do... I wanted to get the sprites out first before doing that... but yes, there WILL be XP versions... to be sure RE: Jay-Kaizer mashup? - JayRay - 10-08-2017 HKCP - JAYKAIZER MASHUP EULA IF YOU USE THE HALF-KAIZER CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MATERIALS: If you use this HKCP's materials to make a sprite, even if you alter it, you will be expected & required to credit all members of the HKCP Team in anything you do. That includes using them to make video games, other digital media, or in redistribution. VENETIA, SHOWKAIZER, CERULEAN SKYE, GRATHEO, BRITCHIK, KAZEN, FOMAR0153, NPHYX, BERSERKER, DEEBS, AMY (from HKCP Reboot) IF YOU REDISTRIBUTE MATERIALS: You are allowed to redistribute the material you create using the material found here, provided that you credit every member of the HKCP Team (listed above). Failure to provide credit may result in a Cease and Desist order and other legal penalties. Commercial redistribution is permitted, with consent from Venetia. You must include in a PM to her, the game which will feature the material, and how much you will be charging for it (in $USD), and where the game(s) will be sold. If it is for non-commercial use, only credit is needed, and you don't need to contact her. JAYRAY's JAY-KAIZER EULA As the Jay-Kaizer is only a derivitive of the original HKCP, an end user must abide by the original HKCP EULA in order to use this template. If an end-user uses a clothing template or other item, he/she must credit also the person who created that resource. We are serious about these Terms & Conditions. They are in place to protect the artists, and to encourage them to contribute. If you do not comply, expect consequences. Thank you! To use the materials found here, it's as simple as 1-2-3 ... 1.) Open the template & accessories/clothes you want to use in an image editor. You will probably need something better than MSPaint--something that can use layers. Try GraphicsGale or Paint.NET. (Please, do not ask how to use those programs. Find out yourself.) 2.) Choose Select All ([Ctrl]+[A]) to make a selection on a piece. Copy it ([Ctrl]+[C]). 3.) Select the Template, make a new layer if you like, and Paste the piece onto the template! Rearrange the layers until it's the way you want it. Then simply save the file as a PNG and close it. VOILA! Couldn't be simpler. |
