Something strange happened to software development - kyonides - 08-03-2018 I was checking out some questions and answers regarding programming languages and this is what I have found there. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-strangest-line-of-thought-in-software-development John Ohno Wrote:These problems are compounded in practice in industry, where there’s a lot of java code being written by kids just out of college (where they spent four years getting told that inheritance is the best way to do code reuse & abstraction layers have no downsides, while they worked on nothing but toy problems). I found some paragraph quite interesting and started wondering why teachers would care to make their students waste their precious time with nonsensical stuff. RE: Something strange happened to software development - DerVVulfman - 08-03-2018 Well, if Moghunter used inheritance when making his original XP menus, his scripts would have been 50% shorter and more compatible with nearly anything else. Nonsensical stuff? Toy problems? Perhaps that would be dependent upon the professor. When I was dealing with code, it was more towards dealing with customer databases, point of sales and salaries. Still, I expect Java to be more audio-visual, so gaming would be a logical direction. Be wary of professors with special projects...
