Spell Names - kyonides - 10-31-2020 While working on your game projects, what kind of names seem to suit your needs?
Is OK to use well known names like Cura and Curara and Curaga? Or is there an advantage at using Persona like names? Perhaps you'd prefer to craft a small task oriented constructed language alias conlang instead. RE: Spell Names - DerVVulfman - 11-01-2020 I wouldn't recommend the Cura and Curaga combination unless you're making a Final Fantasy fan game. For me, well.... not con-lang specific, but my own game DOES have an ancient language in it that I personally didn't invent. So very little (if any) spells have English language names. RE: Spell Names - MetalRenard - 11-01-2020 Not that I've made a game using skills before, but, if I did, I'd make use of a thesaurus to 'describe' each move OR make something original. Increaing strength could be something like: Anger Vengeance Wrath RE: Spell Names - kyonides - 11-02-2020 Would it be convenient or interesting if one uses terms in a second language? I mean, like making the game for an English speaking audience but all spell names would be written in French or German or Spanish on purpose. They wouldn't be translated if the game were ported to other languages. RE: Spell Names - DerVVulfman - 11-02-2020 Hrm, you hit on the Anime known as Bleach as the Quincy weapon Seele Schneider clearly has a Germanic name, and the Hollow attacks and locations like Hueco Mundos are clearly Spanish. RE: Spell Names - Steel Beast 6Beets - 11-03-2020 I've always liked the nomenclature of the Shadow Hearts games (prefix+name). For example, the fire spells in SH Covenant: Red Rave, Red Blaze, Red Cradle and Red Crest. From the New World kept this, with the fire spells being: Red Nova, Red Bounce, Red Gravity and Red Crest. |
