Hmm...I initially got interested when I was 10 or so, living out in the middle of no where for the first time. Mind you, back then 'game-making' largely consisted of me sitting on the couch with a stack of lined paper making up mock-instruction manuals for Nintendo games I had thought up to avoid boredom, mostly Street Fighter clones or Final Fight knock-offs. I didn't really get into it until a few years ago when my brother brought home a disc with RM2K translated by some guy named Don Miguel( I know, bad me, but we didn't have the internet then, so I didn't know any better). I puttered with that for a few months, then he brings home RM2K3 (still no internet by this time.), which I whiled away two years of my life on.

Final Fantasy 9 was a big inspiration. It's my favourite of all the series. But yeah, my brother introduced me to RM2k3 and we both had competitions to see who could make the better game. This was 5-6 years ago.
I had recently played FF7 for the first time. I played it nonstop, and loved it. Then after awhile, it got really boring fast. A friend of mine told me about mugen, and then from there, we went to rm2k3. Then over to XP. I haven't moved to VX just yet. And I've yet to release something concrete in XP.
