So, I afraid I can't help that way, because I used Photoshop to make it.
I can tell the way I made the effects, but I don't know if they can be used in Gimp, never used the program.
The font is called Book Antiqua, and you can found it here, if your PC didn't came with it : http://www.font-zone.com/download.php?fid=2010
I'll make some alt versions, but I think the best would you make a list of places a alt logo would be used, and how it can look to match the scene.
