I would disagree. 9 times out of 10 remakes of games are bad and just make you long for the original instead.
I certainly don't want to see a remake of FF7, especially looking at current FF games...ugh... If they want to bring it to other systems, that's fine with me. You don't need to change something that's good.
What I would want SE to do, is make the next FinalFantasy actually in a game that's worth having that name. Otherwise I'm starting to think that FFIX wasn't a tribute to the earlier games but a farewell to a franchise loved and the stepladder into "we-can-now-almost-make-whatever-we-want-and-make-money-because-hey-graphis-are-way-better-and-who-cares-about-a-good-story-and-gameplay?"
