A Retro, multiplayer 2D RPG in development!
http://www.rpglegend.com

RpgLegend is a retro, multiplayer 2D RPG (role playing game) that is in active development. We are making RpgLegend as a tribute to the classic JRPG we grew up playing but with modern functionality. You will be able to play along with your friends in co-op puzzles and battles. It features a rich world and storyline, custom character progression, and challenging foes to test your skills against.

About

The initial release of the game will have 5 distinct zones: Domhan Forest, Spiertir Plains, Ceonead Woods, Sohar Peaks and the Catacombs. Each zone is full of caves, dungeons, and sub-terrain locations to explore and level up in. Plus, the large capital city of Spiertir, where merchants from across the land come to sell their goods, and players will be able to come together for trade and gatherings.

The main storyline will guide you through the world as you discover why Crimson, the man who destroyed your hometown and killed off your family, is causing mass havoc across the country. Ravril, your childhood friend, invites you into the secret Royal Order and together you piece together the puzzle. Crimson is up to something far greater than either of you could imagine. Will you be able to stop him?

As you progress through the main storyline you will also have many opportunities to find optional side storylines, each with their own characters, events, and circumstances that you may explore.

The Project

RpgLegend has been in development for several years (off and on) but currently the project is in active development.  I have been spending nearly 8 hours a day on the project (and live  streaming my development progress every step of the way).

I am the sole developer/programmer and pixel artist working on the project.  I have the help of Laguna working on the story, and our composer, Gregg Rossetti, who is making an original sound track for the game.

I am developing it using AIR (AS3) for the client, and Node.JS for the real-time multiplayer server.  Plus it is backed by a Postgres database.
RpgLegend will be available on PC and Mac OSX desktop computers.  And later iOS and Android mobile devices.

Live DEV stream:  http://www.livecoding.tv/phanxgames
My stream covers the development of RpgLegend, plus other things, such as pixel artwork, learning new programming languages, and any other work I am doing.  I stream around 8 hours a day, between 3pm and 6pm EST (mainly on the weekdays), and 10pm and 4am EST (almost every night).

My chat has a special chatbot created just for it, which allows you to level a virtual character while you watch my stream and earn gold.  With that gold you are able to request songs, and in the future buy items to make your virtual character stronger.
Come and stop by and let me know you are from Save-Point! I will give you some extra chat-gold, which you may use to request even more songs on the stream!

While the game is still in early development, your feedback and testing of the game in these early stages of development can greatly speed up the development and release of the project!  Also, please sign up on the website to opt in to beta testing, you may be randomly selected!

Want to play now and support the development of RpgLegend?

I have setup a Patreon campaign to help fund the development of RpgLegend.  You may support the project and get rewarded in the process.  For example pledging $5/month (just once) will give you an ALPHA key.  And pledging $10/month (just once) will give you the full retail key for the game: meaning you will have the game when it releases.

Thanks everyone for your interest in my project.
