Letters from Yat-Vrkhazh
#1
So... I wrote a letter, and then I translated it. Enjoy:

ʾIb-ḵobu ṛ-ha34 ṛ-t-ʾaḵbu Ha2 Peṟlal Pazluliẕu lit ṛ-Ha144 ṛ-Ẕiqu ya,
Today is the 34th day of the Second Month of Growing in the 144th Year,

Žaẏ ʾib tumamnišu humnaš ʾešdaššu ṛ-sammim ʾAtmu Čabikdiẕud-ʾIfbamdud noku ṛ-ʾulludud "ṛ-ʾAtmu Zimriẕud" ʾuḡumham.
I am writing this letter to report on the condition of The City of the Wise Scholars who the civilians have named "The City of the Crows".

Žaẏ fafkad saḵčaral 60 ʾalikdiẕud ya.
I am a commander of a pack of 60 soldiers.

Niffedam ʾeʾladdu ʾib tomu ṛ-ʾifgagzu ṛ-mašdinafud ṛ-ʾifšambud lav ṛ-Ḵavafud ṛ-ʾIfmaḵpud ṉal ʾim ṛ-Vakkami ṛ-ʾIfbarmi.
We were ordered by the Glorious Emperor to guard this monumental city from invading demons and from Hollow Men.

Lit paksuḡ koldayiẕu šadik, ṛ-tomu numlad lav nislelam bi-pu qossayud ṉalik.
In the beginning of my post, the city was safe and our positions were still held.

Ṇt had peṟlud ṉal ṛ-tumašdinud ṛ-tomafu nulʾukam ʾelladdu.
For numerous months we were able to hold back the demons and Hollow Men from the city

ʾIb-nuya-lu din ʾaḵnud nulʾakam ʾeylakku 2 ḵobud pu:
That was, until things began to happen two days ago:

Lit ṛ-paksuḡu, ṛ-ʾikḻu maʾšolur ṉalik nuyḡasas!
At first, the earth around us shook mightily!

Nuf ṛ-siḥkafu, ṛ-ṃmaṉatud nuqvanam ṇkud ṉalib nuksaḡam ʾelḥačču mumtaẏt, ṉalib yowdabam lav ṉalib yowžadam sa-lit debud ṗajak.
Then from the sand, the mmangat rose who immediately began to attack us, enveloping us and drowning us within their forms.

Samšeru ṗajak bar ṛ-su-palḥuču ṛ-ʾifṉamru ṛ-mašdinafud lav ṛ-Ḵavafud ṛ-ʾIfmaḵpud ṉalib nuwdasam lav nilẕeẕam ʾašol maldidud ṉalik.
Their prescence along with the enduring assault from the demons and Hollow Men overwhelmed us and all of our defenses broke.

ṛ-Ṃbukud ṛ-ʾiftahrud ṛ-tutomu ʾunušmabad lav tusamikšud ḥojak yossabam.
The vile creatures had invaded the city and were slaughtering its inhabitants.

T-ʾaḵnud nažnabud ʾešdahhu, ṛ-ikḻu nuyḡas lemora, guẕ dlem ṉarṉašu.
To make things worse, the earth shook yet again, but even stronger.

Nuf, ṛ-yat nudžak lav tudažkeru ʾifzallu nuzlaš lav ḥojat ruḡu, ʾifdadnu lav ʾiftafdu, nuqvan.
Then, the ground split open and became a large fissure/pit and from it a serpent, massive and terrible, rose.

Ḥol ʾifzazru lav ʾifzallu bi ṛ-Kašmer Yat-Vṛḵaž nuya.
It was as tall and as large as The Wall of Yat-Vrkhazh.

S-ʾašol ʾaḵnud mel ʾunuylakam, ʾib ʾAjmu Mavḥariẕu ṛ-ʾIfbarmu moḥfaf lav mořkak lav žaẏ ʾib nušmar.
With all things that occurred, this Glorious Pillar of Civilization would crumble and fall and I knew this.

Ṉal ṛ-makfahud lav ṛ-maḥlikud nunšašam ʾitim ʾeldannu ʾib tomu ṛ-ʾifbažlu.
We didn't have the numbers or resources to save this doomed city.

Ṉal ṛ-tutomu nuwimtakam.
We had to abandon the city.

Bi ʾalikdud šadik lav žaẏ ṛ-t-ʾulludud yomuttak, nilḥeč žaẏ ʾim miẕmu noku žaẏ nusbabas mumtaẏt.
As my soldiers and I were evacuating the civilians, I was attacked by a mitsim who I immediately slayed.

Vassi, palḥuču ḥojak šadib lit qemrodu šadik ʾunuḵmap subbaẏt.
However, its attack had fatally wounded me in the stomach.

Lu ṛ-sa-ṉaršeru mel žaẏ nušaš ʾifšabbu, žaẏ ʾib tumamnišu humnaš lav ʾim šadkašu huplaf lu (mel) žaẏ luʾak ʾenkaššu daseṟ su-bafderu šadik.
So with the energy I have left, I am writing this letter and sending it by messenger so (that) I can die having done my [last] duty.

ʾIm Riži Hamkari, ṛ-fafkad Ha7 Saḵčariẕu
By Rizhi Hamkari, the 7th Pack's commander.
"Turning iron ore into iron swords is a hard process, for one must first dig out the rock, and melt it to refine it, then one must pour that metal into a mould, let it cool a bit, and pound on it while it cools even further. Games are no different." - Ahzoh
