Interesting that "r-' "  is the word "the", it makes sense that the word would develop that way (sonically), in a culture. Good idea.
So "castle" is just "castle", but "the castle" is "r-'castle", it feels like natural speech - a short syllable to denote a specific one instead of a general idea.

Yes, the word "the" is called a definite article which indicates that its noun is a particular one which is identifiable to the listener. It may be something that the speaker has already mentioned, or it may be something uniquely specified.

Vrkhazhian also puts the r- before adjectives modifying the noun: ṛ-tomu ṛ-ʾifgagzu literally means "the city the monumental". But possessive nouns are never marked for definiteness and neither are nouns preceded by ʾib "this" because the word "this" is by its nature definite, so it would be redundant.
