I found this article about electric toothbrushes ruining teeth. What's funny is I have a family member who just quit their dental assistant job who stated I need an electric spin brush. That's not the first time I've been lied to by a dentist (or a family member) either.
The last time I went to the dentist they stated I had a ton of cavities, gum disease and bone loss. Um... no, no and no. I only went in for a routine cleaning and 1.) I've never had a cavity, 2.) I have no tooth sensitivity and 3.) my teeth aren't loose nor do they feel like they're falling out. I've since switched and now go to a new dentist, but they countered those claims and said everything is fine.
I'm 30 so I do suspect that maybe, one day, my teeth will eventually be bad but things are still great. The only problem I've ever had was breaking a molar while eating Corn Nuts. Avoid Corn Nuts and popcorn kernels and you should be fine. Oh, and spin brushes are bullshit.
Sorry about the rant but sometimes "trained professionals" don't know what the heck they're talking about or are trying to make a quick buck off some poor sucker. It's like we're living in the Twilight Zone these days.
