I think the ignorance comes from the Clinton family's mastery of the "That's old news, move on!" line.
Look at every scandal, she's and her people have done it.
Hillary: "At this point, what difference does it make?"
Some dude defending her: "Dude, Benghazi happened 2 years ago! Who cares?!"
Unfortunate that the tactic works SO WELL, but if the FBI indicts, she can't do her Jedi mind tricks on them.
Hillary: "These are not the emails you are looking for."
FBI Agent: "But it is..."
Hillary: "Those are for a wedding!"
FBI Agent: "But it's clearly top-secret information being sent through an unsecured server you never had permission to use, therefore breaking the rules..."
Hillary: "These are not the emails you are loo-- Hey, why the handcuff, bub?!"
