The kes particle in my conlang has changed its uses during the course of its development, or should I say the story of my conworld instead?
Why do your coninhabitants add up the second consonant or character at the beginning? I mean, it sure makes it harder to pronounce it to make clear it's a plural form of the term in cases like mm or so. Isn't there any exceptions to the rule? (No double initial letter but another kind of affix perhaps.)
Well, they'd have their own writing system, but this doubling up of consonants indicates the consonant is pronounced twice as long, just as a double vowel indicates the vowel is produced twice as long.
It takes training to tell a "short m" from a "long m", although in this language, the second "m" would become a "b".
The language also has this funny consonant, "m̃", that sounds like this:

The only exceptions are words that begin with vowels, because they have no consonants.
