Upgrading my laptop!
I just purchased a 1tb Western Digital "Black" (aka high performance, 7200 rpm) HDD and caddy to replace my optical drive which I've used a grand total of twice in a year. It already has an SSD (system) and 1tb HDD (storage) but I need the faster drive and extra tb to install all my music software and virtual instruments (which stream constantly from the HDD during playback in my audio software, hence the high performance requirement).
Later, I will also replace the original HDD with a high capacity drive (2 or more tb minimum) for storage purposes and backup. I'm thinking... Seagate FireCuda, 2tb SSHD or just a standard 5400 rpm HDD.
The point is that I will be travelling for most of next (school) year as I'm going to live in Japan in August with my partner. I don't want to have to lag around an external HDD too, which, in addition, will probably just get broken anyway. My laptop needs to be able to run all my software and have enough capacity for all my music production, youtube video creation and gaming needs.
Sorry to gush by this is always so exciting. ^_^
