Hello, dear readers of the Destiny of End Rumor-Filled, But-Totally-Legit-Though Gazette!
We've got MONSTER scoops for you in this edition! Get it? MONSTER? Because it's about monst- Okay, okay, I'll get to reporting, sheesh!
So, our amazing super sleuths and super secret sources are back from their assignments with tons of new info! The investigators were assigned to the Behemoth Fields around Ocu Lake, and to the old Harpy Nesting Grounds in the Maffle Mountains, and our super-smart sources have some amazing insight on those areas! Wow!
What one of our sources told us, well... it's quite sad, if you ask this reporter. The old Harpy Nesting Grounds is where the Harpies, a type of larger beast we call "monsters", chose to make their nesting grounds before the local people decided to clear out the area for shops. In the mountains. Yeah, who'd have thought mountainside shops would be all the rage? I guess you never know, huh?
Anyway, according to our sleuths, the Harpies are trying to retake the old Nesting Grounds by reportedly attacking civilians in the area. The New Harpy Nesting Grounds were attacked in response by local officials, but the Karula army has ceased all local operations to liberate the area from the Harpies, placing the local officials that tried to help the citizens UNDER ARREST! There are no signs of any recent Harpy births in the New Harpy Nesting Grounds, which means the Harpies may be near extinction and are mounting a last-ditch effort to retrieve their old Nesting Grounds to resume their... birthing. Monsters are generally seen as peaceful unless you mess with them; at least, that's been peoples' experiences the past 300+ years, since they've been kept under control so well! So this development of monsters invading human spaces is fairly new, and quite troubling to a simple reporter like me!
Our sleuth assigned to the Behemoth Fields encountered a few oddities and abnormalities, and I would like to keep our sleuth, Mr. Takobil, entirely anonymous. Please don't tell anyone that it was Deleshus Takobil the 3rd who was scouring the area. What he discovered can absolutely jeopardize his life and safety. You see... he saw some things. Some things that shouldn't be. Reporting on these things could even put me in danger, and I'm just reporting!
According to our investigator, an Alpha Behemoth was in the forest near Ocu Lake. It was fighting another Alpha Behemoth for dominance. The Behemoth population has boomed, and there's more than a single Alpha in the bunch. Something is entirely wrong here! According to our sources, the Kerusa Kingdom had kept the Behemoth Fields in check for over 200 years, when the Behemoths first moved from the Welka Desert to the grassland around Ocu Lake; hence, we started calling it Behemoth Fields in the first place. It used to just be a grassy area around the Ocu Lake! But if the Behemoth population is booming, then the Karula Kingdom has stopped keeping them in check. At least, that's what would be inferred from this observation.
A Behemoth is a beast that grows VERY FAST, and keeps growing,
and GROWING,
and G R O W I N G... and if they're not properly kept in check, they'll be as big as a rich guy's mansion! An Alpha Behemoth grows even bigger, and they're MUCH stronger; In fact, they're a huge problem to take out, which is why you need to spot them and eliminate them when they're young. Otherwise, humongous issues arise, like invasions of towns and destruction of local wildlife in search of food sources. They're ferocious, they're unrelenting, they're fast, they're extremely powerful, and they have green drool, and I just don't want one invading any towns and drooling on people, ya get me?
So, dear readers, don't be surprised if you see something on the Request Boards about this. As a reporter, I just know these things tend to get out of control quickly. Stay safe, friends. And if you see a Behemoth, walk the other way and let The Guild take care of it.
The HI HP Guild is on the case, right?
...Right?
The same super-anonymous investigator also encountered something else on the way back. In another grassland near a town I won't name, there was a woman standing in the rain. She seemed zoned out during the rainstorm, as if in a trance. Her hair was longer than her own body as it blew in the whipping winds, and she didn't seem to have a care in the world. Her long dress was soaking in the rain, and she wasn't wearing shoes. Our sleuth approached the woman, and when she spotted him drawing near, she ran faster than anyone he has ever seen, heading West towards the forest. Perhaps she lives in the mountains that I shall not name that are in that direction?
Anyway, I'm glad our sleuth didn't catch up to her. You see, there's no way that was a normal woman. It had to be a Dragon! The quirks, the speed, the look... If he caught up to her, there's no telling what she would do. A Dragon's monster form is scarier than an adult Behemoth, and just as scary as an Alpha Behemoth. You don't want to be messing with one. They were used during the War for a reason; their strength is unmatched, and it took many men to incapacitate a single one.
According to our apparently hateful and super-mean source, Dragons are ferocious, human-mimicking monsters, and not actual people. They were culled to near extinction after the War 400 years ago, where they were used as engines of destruction and death on the battlefield; but, because their human form is so convincing, many escaped the culling. Obviously, they are still around today, even if they are unable to merge with society once again.
I know a lot of people that, for some reason, still hate Dragons. Perhaps it's because they were blamed for prolonging the War and taking many lives with them, or perhaps it was because the new King that took the throne after the War proclaimed them as enemies of society, accusing them of being responsible for the slaying of the entire royal family. (A proclamation with no evidence we can find, however)
Whatever the reasons may be, they are a fairly unwelcome sight these days in many eyes; that is why I have kept the locations of this Dragon sighting so guarded. This woman would be hunted down and slain by marauders pretending to be for justice over a war they had no part or interest in, and as an unbiased reporter, I cannot let something like that happen because of my reporting.
A blatant Dragon sighting...
Booming Behemoth population...
Harpies attacking civilians...
What's going on these days?! I fear chaos may soon break out if monsters go unchecked, and society itself will begin to crumble into a defensive posture from constant barrages of monster invasions. And I fear something else is going on within the Karula Kingdom itself.
Three years ago, King Szayel Karula himself slew an Alpha Behemoth to aid in the population control. Surely he still knows the importance of keeping them in check today? Strange.
That's all for now, dear reader!
Next time, we'll have a discussion about the HI HP Guild!
Is something going on within the Guild's ranks?
HI HP GUILD EXPOSED?! Are we really doing this?! Apparently we are!
Super-sleuths! It looks like we have another assignment for you!
Go! Go go go! And don't come back until you've got something good for our dear readers, understood?!
And bring me back some behemoth steaks! I'm hungry!
