yes! I have a legit copy via Steam now and not a torrented rmxp that's also using my cpu to mine bitcoin......; so I fully intend on finishing this story that i've been working on since I was 16 and depressed way back in 2004.
Adult depression is kind of like teenage depression, but now I have a job and a dog and various responsibilities I have to put depression on the back burner, and pretend to function for. Is this a weird way to deal with it? fuckit I don't care.
I was really considering moving up to MV so I could put this out on Mobile, but a long JRPG isn't a good toilet game, so I decided to go back to the ol' standby of XP. Maybe it's nostalgia for a time I'll never be able to go back to, but I feel like XP was good enough for my silly lil' game.
I was playing Dragon Quest 11 this year, which incidentally stole my original story with their whole Yggdrasil tree storing the souls of the living as leaves, BUUUUUT I noticed that DQ11 didn't really have anything going for it that RMXP couldn't emulate. I decided I don't need the latest and greatest and most expensive-est program to present my experience, I just need my good ol' XP...... and an external CD drive so I can load up my Adobe Illustrator 10 from 2002, and finish my custom tilesets lololol. Photoshop 7 works just fine for my purposes. Subscription fees for CS can CSuckit.

Isn't that shit wild tho? computers don't come with cd drives anymore.
I'm 35 on 10Jan23.
I still remember 3.5 inch floppy disks being something I needed for 3rd grade so I could hold onto all my dumbass Oregon Trail save files and Timeliner 4.0 projects. The world I grew up in is truly dead and gone. now i feel sad.
9/11 was the end of the world for those of us born in the 80's. it represented the crash and pyre of the utopian vision we were sold of what the post-2000's world could have been. the world was supposed to really be better, and a lot of us weren't prepared on September 10th to carry the burden of September 12th. Most of us were still children, some of us still are.
Anyway, back on topic; a demo. A demo? A demo will be ready when it's ready. Right now I have 3 overworld maps done. That's it.
I decided this time around, and there have been about 6 tries now with XP since July of 2004, I decided to focus on building my overworld maps, then my interiors, then my underworlds, then do all my eventing and scripting, and et-ceteras afterwards. At 100 hours I'm just at 3 of my 4 exteriors of Act 1. I have one more large town to add to this island, then it's inwards for the houses and caves, and inwards once again for the events scripts and guts.
I appreciate tf out of anyone who still remembers this project. <3
