Quote:Born into a legacy lost, the Monkey King knew not his lineage. His kind hunted down to the last by the Fell Omen. The forest, his verdant homeland a birthright he would see only in flames. The ignorant bliss he lived in- temporary... Abstinance of this knowledge could only last so long.
To those he cares for, he is Valin Jaeger, but to most else- he is known as the Hero of Teratown. A shining example of morality and a noble-hearted adventurer who lead the people he called his own through the most ghastly of ordeals. When the Fell Omen came to wreak havoc upon Teratown, he was there to fight and inspired others to do the same. The malignant host thought the Hero of Teratown an ignorant fool, but in their final moments one is lead to reflect on where things went wrong. It was in underestimating him, the son of Ivaln-- that the Fell Omen had faltered. Through that failure, it lay eversworn to its defeat.
And while the Monkey King would learn of his birthright, there was no temptation to embrace it. His home was among his people, the outcast denizens of Terra. He had interest not in some jungle a galaxy across that he could scant recall. In gratuitous bounty does the worth feel empty, but in continuous strife does connection to the world feel real. If one is given everything at birth, what reason is there to want to improve? It is a perfect lullaby of ungrowing infants. Coddlery.
The premise of danger, of survival-- of fighting for a better tomorrow, even if it may never come- that prospect was the harder path, the wiser path. it is the path of a hero, one who has the key to all worlds.
Valin would be no king in status, he would govern no world by birthright. He was a king in heart, and the world was his not to govern, but to greaten through his own deeds, not something pre-ordained such as lineage. A hero in all but name. He would always go forward... From one adventure into the next. Be that facing down Dark Gods, or just going to the mall to retrieve groceries... Life itself is the adventure.
