HOO BOY, HERE I GO ARTING AGAIN!
This was a fun one, really enjoyed doing the fiery mane, nails, hair and tail! It took about 11 hours, and was done for Chinese New Year of the Horse, the Nightmare pictured in particular I've named 'Flaze' which is just shorthand for flaming blaze, though it could be read as 'flays' which is an action she uh-- definitely would do!
She's based on the nightmare steeds from Dungeons n' Dragons / Neverwinter- I figured that would be a fun twist on year of the horse.
Below is a 17 minute timelapse of the entire 11 hours process from start to finish.

Year of the Horse ~{Infernal Nightmare}~

Jets of flame running hotter than the surface of a star, merely decoration as a mane and tail that set fire to the unworthy. A beast of magma, pride and rage- cobbled from the longest-lived of abaddon. A steed whose genesis was malign- to trample its masters and maimers both. Eternally proud, unruly and with a hatred of compromise. It's love language strength, worth defined by capacity to hurt and kill. A steed without a handler, ever burning with an infernal love of destruction and savagery.
The weak were to be trampled under its might, the worthy would ride atop the most feared steeds in not just Heldath-- nay, the cosmos.
Dream-hopping, ever-heedless, they gallop loudly into the blaze of battle ready to tear, flay and destroy any that fall into their path. The notion of allies does not sit, any who are too weak to properly stand their ground are trampled if they get in the way. A steed designed to ignore lives is a steed designed to destroy lives. There is no compassion they can harbor, no tolerance they can test. Pride given providence, hatred given a hubris. Entering dreams to create pitch black fear, raw as an engine, delighting in dread of their victims. A creature unphased by strength and disgusted by false bravado. There is no other way they could have manifested than from the fallen messiah.
A tormented dream dooms their prey to a promised fate, already sealed but added of an impending countdown. Sadism without point, torture without cause... A nightmare without reason.
