Server Updates

Major server updates are next. A new long term support release for the servers base operating system became available today. I'm going to do the upgrade on Saturday 7, September 2024 unless major issues pop up in the release bug tracker. This is not a security update, but rather a routine update so that we never get caught outside the security update cycle. The next major update should happen in about 2 years when the next LTS release cycle comes around.

Upgrade delayed due to critical error in the upgrade package that may result in non-functioning systems. The update package for LTS was flagged so the system won't even let you do it without manually overriding it. I will keep an eye on the bug tracker and make another announcement should they resolve the issue. This is why I don't do day of release updates.
