but admits company's power sets 'dangerous' precedent
Dorsey acknowledges Twitter needs to 'look critically at inconsistencies' of enforcing company policies
Jack Dorsey Wrote:I do not celebrate or feel pride in our having to ban @realDonaldTrump, or how we got here.
After a clear warning we’d take this action, we made a decision with the best information we had based on threats to physical safety both on and off Twitter. Was this correct?
I believe this was the right decision for Twitter.
We faced an extraordinary and untenable circumstance, forcing us to focus all of our actions on public safety. Offline harm as a result of online speech is demonstrably real, and what drives our policy and enforcement above all.
That said, having to ban an account has real and significant ramifications. While there are clear and obvious exceptions, I feel a ban is a failure of ours ultimately to promote healthy conversation. And a time for us to reflect on our operations and the environment around us.
The check and accountability on this power has always been the fact that a service like Twitter is one small part of the larger public conversation happening across the internet. If folks do not agree with our rules and enforcement, they can simply go to another internet service.
First of all they should have enabled the account at once instead of setting a dangerous precedent against free speech and democracy.
Can't they see Americans badly needed to know what the sitting US President had to say back then?
Of course, they never cared about them. They can only think on favoring the CCP and the Democrats.
And how the hell are they supposed to run to another provider? Didn't Amazon ban Parler not long ago?
Epoch Times Wrote:A Texas woman who bragged about being able to deliver thousands of votes for tens of thousands in cash was arrested this week on charges including election fraud and illegal voting.
Raquel Rodriguez was filmed during an undercover project by Project Veritas, a nonprofit journalism watchdog group. She said on video footage released last year that she could deliver “at least 5,000” votes “county-wide” for $55,000 in cash and that would hire her “entire team.” She acknowledged what she was discussing could land her prison time.
Based on the footage, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, opened an investigation. That probe led to the arrest, Paxton announced on Jan. 13.
What did the cheater think they'd do next? Pat her on her shoulder?
Epoch Times Wrote:Democrats in the House of Representatives, joined by 10 Republicans, voted to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time, in a 232–197 vote on Jan. 13. The single article of impeachment alleges that the president incited an insurrection that resulted in the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
The impeachment, accomplished in a single seven-hour session, was the fastest in U.S. history. It is also the first time in the nation’s history that a president has been impeached twice.
Republicans criticized the rush, arguing that it offered no due process to the president and no confidence in the proceedings to the American people. Democrats justified the truncated process by alleging that Trump poses a danger to the nation every day he is in office.
This is ridiculous! How can they claim that they followed due process? They simply skipped the most important part by showing the evidences and let the defendant call his witnesses.
People like Pelosi should be expelled from Congress for viciously persecuting an US official on false grounds.
Fox News Wrote:First, let's be clear about what that reason is not. Legitimate moral outrage will play absolutely no role whatsoever in whatever happens next, no matter how many times House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, D-S.C. goes on television and talks about the civil rights movement...
At this point, it's worth recalling that for decades, and not that long ago, the two most powerful Democrats in the United States Senate were Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd. Ted Kennedy left a young woman to drown in a drunk driving accident. Robert Byrd was a recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan. Democrats did not seem bothered by any of that. They praised Kennedy and Byrd at every turn, including at their funerals.
So, no, Democrats are not actually outraged in any moral sense by Donald Trump. They never have been. They're too cynical to have feelings that authentic. As if to prove that point, they've named as one of their so-called impeachment managers Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., who as a sitting member of Congress had sex with an actual Chinese spy.
How impartial can such an impeachment be if they rely on congresspeople that have been questioned for being real morons? Hey, why don't they subpoena Christine Fang to witness against Trump? Be careful, she might reveal how easily she fooled Swalwell back in their summer days.

Really? Does anybody still doubt Big Tech is abusing of its power? The lawmakers should quickly repeal section 230!

Keller faces charges of knowingly entering a restricted building, attempting to impede government function
Fox News Wrote:Klete Keller, a gold-medalist Olympic swimmer who competed alongside superstars Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, has been charged in connection with the riot at the Capitol last week, apparently captured on video wearing his Team USA jacket in the rotunda.
Townhall journalist Julio Rosas shared a video that appeared to show the 38-year-old, who is 6 feet, 6 inches tall, standing conspicuously in the middle of the chaotic scene Wednesday – although he does not appear to be taking part in the violence.
What a fool! Entering the Capitol only meant his days as an activist of any kind had ended prematurely.
Trump Strengthens Ban on US Investments in Chinese Military Companies
Sets Deadline Requiring Complete Divestment
Sets Deadline Requiring Complete Divestment
Epoch Times Wrote:President Donald Trump signed an order late Wednesday requiring U.S. investors to completely divest their holdings of securities of Pentagon-blacklisted Chinese military companies by Nov. 11, 2021.
The amendment order expands the scope of the initial November executive order (E.O.) 13959, which initially only restricted U.S. investors from buying securities of companies designated by the Pentagon as owned or controlled by the Chinese military by Nov, 11, 2021.
This sounds like a good countermeasure against an Asian bully but will they last till November 2021 at least?
Epoch Times Wrote:At least 11 people were arrested Thursday morning in Hong Kong, allegedly for helping 12 Hongkongers flee the city before they were captured at sea by Chinese coastal guards in August last year, according to local media.
Among those arrested was Daniel Wong Kwok-tung, a Hong Kong lawyer and district councilor. According to his Facebook post, he was arrested at home at around 6:10 a.m. local time by the local police’s national security department.
Willis Ho, a local activist and filmmaker, stated via a Facebook post that her mother, surnamed Cheung, was arrested at 6:15 a.m. local time and taken to the police station in Tsuen Wan district. Ho wrote the arrest had to do with the 12 Hongkongers.
And China keeps smashing human rights! And guess who's part of the UN human rights watch right now? China is!
Epoch Times Wrote:The United States announced on Jan. 13 it will ban all imports of cotton and tomato products from China’s Xinjiang region, in the widest action yet to crack down on the use of forced labor of Uyghur Muslims.
Customs and Border Protection (CBD) officials at all U.S. ports of entry will be required to detain cotton and tomato products grown or produced in Xinjiang, including apparel, textiles, tomato seeds, canned tomatoes, and tomato sauce, CBD said in a statement.
The more people buy their products, the more the CPP will rely on Uyghur slaves to get the job done.
