RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 07-14-2019 Coming Soon... I Guess...
Actually I have got a curious announcement to make here... I am going to implement a small variant of the default battle system to mimic battles a la Dragon Quest I classic! So it might look slightly similar to what you can see below. But do not expect me to make an exact copy of it! To be honest with you, I have already started changing the windows and the battle spriteset. Let us say I do hate Aluxes just a little bit! RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 07-16-2019 A Very Simple Attempt to Replicate DQ's Battle Interface
This is what I have achieved so far. I know, I know, it does not look exactly like the original battle system, but it does look decent I think. For now only the cursor and the take screenshot function work but it is just a matter of time to implement the rest of the system in my game. Keep in mind this will only be used in Naoxe Desert and nowhere else. Yeah, that is exactly the place where Aluxes love to go for a walk. RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 07-17-2019 The Saddening Evolution of the Naoxe Desert
As some of you might recall, the first map of my game is the terrible Naoxe Desert. You have never heard about it, only Aluxes seems to know that place very well... I guess that after thousands of times getting lost there, he finally developed some kind of crude orientation instict. Even so I still love my squarish desert zone even if it's gone now...
RE: A Short Odyssey - Mel - 07-17-2019 This is some good progress especially on that battle system.^^ RE: A Short Odyssey - DerVVulfman - 07-18-2019 Hold up. Aluxes... actually becomes an expert... at something? ARE YOU INSANE? And nice job. I know it was frustrating finding a decent font as you wanted to keep the style. RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 07-23-2019 I didn't do anything! It's a Trap!
Something horrible has happened in A Short Odyssey's world... I have been caught by surprise and now I'm trapped in my very own game! I will be extremely lucky if it is not some kind of Tron like story... Wait a second or two! I am heading straight to the Naoxe Desert!! Why on Earth would I ever pick Aluxes's favorite place at all? Oh unholy crap! I knew this could end up being even worse than Tron! I have already been spotted by Aluxes! Somebody show me some mercy and stop me before I contract his stupidity! RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 07-31-2019 HiddenChest Made Things Look Quite Interesting!
It now includes a new version of KScenario called HiddenChest Version! Now you might be able to click on a hero to select him or her! Click once to read his personal data. Click once again to pick him! Sadly, it might not be wise to do the same with the destinations... but the final choice is just one click away! I really tried to take a snapshot of it but for some reason my external screenshot application didn't include the pointer even if I asked it to do so. RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 08-05-2019 A Bumping Newcomer and Click Click!
Well, I was trying to come up with anything original but then I managed to improve Gosu the Ruby gem by adding a couple of methods to change its default behavior just a little bit. Of course, I had to try it on a new project and the KScenario Gosu demo ended up turning into... A Short Odyssey Gosu Edition!
Yeah, that Didier guy is quite obsessed with such stuff indeed. But guess what? You can also click on any other hero available there! Now I have to think about what kind of changes I could make to this edition of my game to keep people interested in playing both of them. Got any suggestions, my fellow game devs and readers? RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 08-05-2019 No Dragon No Battle!
For the meanwhile I've been dealing with more Dragon Quest-ish battle system stuff like the opening sequence where you can see a small frame opens up wide like the windows now do in HiddenChest. Well, now the monster's central battleback and its frame are animated to emulate that! I also added another minor detail like displaying a message that says "Monster appeared !". Only a few people got this scripting update via pm! And nope, I didn't manage to post this small game update before midnight. RE: A Short Odyssey - kyonides - 09-03-2019 Translations and Nothing Else Except for More Translations!
I've been working on rewriting some stuff in my game A Short Odyssey Gosu Version and now it does allow me to parse the heroes' files to include four languages in the preferred places, descriptions and replies sections. OK... One of them is an actual conlang but who cares! The Screenshots
Why did I rewrite stuff in the first place? Well, that's because I'm customizing the Gosu gem in order to force it to do my bidding! Are you asking about the English version? Then go back a couple of posts to find it! |
