SPLIT off as a new thread.
To Agckuu_Coceg: I put the 'correct' call in the 1st post. The initial instructions to use $game_screen.weather was wrong. Just use screen.weather as I wrote. Then it works.
To Ramiro: Erm... I could only get up to weather type #32 to function. Missing the last 3.
