As of this moment (6:22 PM) I'm uploading a revised special edition of One Night addressing the concerns recently pointed out in MaxMcGee and Shinan's reviews. It's still not completely as refined as it should be, but in the meantime I have made several major changes to the game.
Major Change One: Much like I did yesterday with One Night 3, I've eased exploration in the game by marking most important objects with a sparkle and making monsters unable to sneak up on you while you read text.
Major Change Two: I've reduced the monsters by at least half, and have taken them out of particularly cramped areas entirely.
These two changes should make the game much more enjoyable.
