Harris’ record as California attorney general and district attorney in San Francisco was heavily scrutinized during the Democratic primary and turned off some liberals and younger Black voters who saw her as out of step on issues of systemic racism in the legal system and police brutality.

Chief Carmen Best couldn't stand it anymore and resigned immediately after hearing about the council's decision.
Keep in mind she's been the first black Chief of Police in Seattle.

On Monday, the city council voted to slash over $3m (£2.3m) from the police's $400m annual operating budget. The cuts are expected to lead to the loss of about 100 police officers, but fall short of the hopes of anti-police brutality Black Lives Matter protesters who have called for a 50% reduction.
Seattle City Council President M Lorena González said it was necessary to rebalance the police budget, due to a loss of government tax funds caused by the economic downturn, and the demands of Black Lives Matter protests - some of whom have called for "defunding" the police and instead using the money to bolster social services.
The new budget also slashes the police chief's salary from $294,000 to $275,000 per year.

I'm Latino and I don't care if people hate me but even I have to admit González is an idiot. So criminals and protesters that wanna commit crimes and go unpunished should get what they've been asking for?  
Of course, Democrats love to hire private security and let the community lose 100 police officers even if the pandemic continues hitting families' pockets hard.
