It also works on my end now! 
I don't really understand how it happened, but I swapped out Game_Map and Spriteset_Map with the default script from a brand new project, and I suppose that is why it works now?
In either case, I'm elated that it's working!
This will save me a ton of time with cartography as I used to rely on screenshots and stitching those together, and I've got over 430 game maps already. (I'll just delete the screenshots of the maps for cutscenes)
