The Epstein Files Will Be Released Special Edition
EPSTEIN FILES
Quote:President Trump announced Wednesday that he has signed congressional legislation forcing the federal government to release documents related to notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
“I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!” Trump wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post.
“As everyone knows, I asked Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, to pass this Bill in the House and Senate, respectively,” the president added. “Because of this request, the votes were almost unanimous in favor of passage.”
The measure Trump signed into law requires the Department of Justice to turn over all “unclassified records, documents, communications and investigative materials” — and all classified information to the maximum extent possible — to Congress within 30 days.
The Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was introduced by Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), would also order Attorney General Pam Bondi to deliver a list of government officials and other “politically exposed persons” linked to Epstein within 15 days of receiving the president’s signature.
The bill sailed through the House of Representatives in a 427-1 vote Tuesday, and was sent to Trump’s desk by the Senate with unanimous consent.
The Trump administration had been at odds with lawmakers for much of the year on releasing the so-called Epstein files – with the president slamming the subject as a Democrat-led “hoax.”
Only four Republicans — Massie and Reps. Nancy Mace (R-SC), Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — joined all 214 House Democrats to get the necessary 218 signatures needed to force a vote on the resolution.
After Trump signaled he would sign the bill into law if it passed, it received a surge in GOP support.
In his post, the president noted Epstein “was charged by the Trump Justice Department in 2019 (Not the Democrats!)” for child sex trafficking and that the disgraced financier “was a lifelong Democrat,” who “donated Thousands of Dollars to Democrat Politicians, and was deeply associated with many well-known Democrat figures, such as Bill Clinton (who traveled on his plane 26 times), Larry Summers (who just resigned from many Boards, including Harvard), Sleazebag Political Activist Reid Hoffman, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (who asked Epstein to donate to his Campaign AFTER Epstein was charged), Democrat Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett, and many more.”

Epstein files to get released within 30 days: Bondi
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department will publicly divulge all of its eligible files on late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein within the next 30 days, US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Wednesday.
Bondi confirmed that the DOJ intends to abide by the requirements in the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which cleared both chambers of Congress on Tuesday, while ensuring that victims of the late sex predator are protected.
"We will continue to follow the law and encourage maximum transparency," Bondi said during a press conference.
The bill, for which President Trump announced support over the weekend after months of grumbling over it, includes some carveouts against releasing material that includes sexually explicit content of children or material that is part of an ongoing investigation. It also requires victims' identities to be concealed.
Bondi stirred controversy earlier this year when she handed over binders titled "The Epstein Files: Phase," which mostly contained files that were already publicly available.
Then, over the summer, her office sparked a MAGA world firestorm by releasing a memo with the FBI that concluded there was no evidence to suggest Epstein had an incriminating "client list" and that he most likely killed himself in prison.
Quote:A firm representing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) solicited Jeffrey Epstein for donations and to get him to attend a dinner with then-President Barack Obama, newly released files revealed.
Thousands of pages of documents from Epstein’s estate published by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee last week included a 2013 email from a representative of Jeffries’ asking Epstein to meet with and give money to the Democrat leader.
House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) exposed the email on the House floor during consideration of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which passed 427-1:
https://twitter.com/nicksortor/status/19...2358055989
New York City-based firm Dynamic SRG sent Epstein an email referring to Jeffries, who had entered congressional office just a few months prior, as “Brooklyn’s Obama.”
“Hakeem is committed to electing a Democrat majority in 2014 and is encouraging his friends to participate in the DCCC/DSCC [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee/Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee] fundraising dinner with President Obama this coming Monday night,” Dynamic SRG’s Lisa Rossi wrote.
Rossi went on to encourage Epstein to call or email her if he would like to “get involved” with the dinner or get an “opportunity to get to know Hakeem better.”
“… Another email shows fundraisers invited Epstein to an event or to meet privately with Hakeem Jeffries as part of their 2013 effort to win a majority,” Comer said. “So Hakeem Jeffries’ campaign solicited money from Jeffrey Epstein. That’s what we found in the last document batch.”
At the time of the May 2013 email, Epstein had been out of prison for a few years after serving a 13-month sentence for procuring a child for prostitution.
The Oversight chair went on to emphasize that former President Bill Clinton “must appear for his deposition.” On the floor, Comer misspoke and said “former President Trump,” but his prepared remarks state Clinton.
“The Oversight Committee subpoenaed him… the Democrats have done nothing to help secure his appearance,” he added. “The Oversight Committee will continue to work to get the truth to the American people and to get justice for the victims. That’s our goal of this investigation.”
Donald Trump Jr. highlighted the Democrats’ hypocrisy on X, writing, “So a convicted sex offender who trafficked kids gets invited to a private dinner with Obama and a meeting with Jeffries five years after being released but it’s somehow still all about Trump? The Epstein saga is a hoax re Trump, but not the Democrats who he funded & enabled him!”
Jeffries also faced backlash this week after he refused to directly address fellow Democrat Del. Stacey Plasskett’s (D-VI) texts with Epstein, which were also revealed in the latest trove of files from the late billionaire sex offender’s estate:
https://twitter.com/WesternLensman/statu...7817838887
Plasskett, a nonvoting member of the House from the U.S. Virgin Islands, was exposed for being coached by Epstein while she questioned a former-lawyer-turned-critic of President Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, in a 2019 congressional hearing.
Epstein appeared to be watching the hearing in real time, texting Plaskett that she looked “great” and giving her advice on how to question Cohen.
One minute after Plaskett’s questioning was over, Epstein texted her, “Good work.”
Plaskett also received thousands of dollars from Epstein in campaign contributions during the 2016 and 2018 election cycles.
Epstein owned a private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Little Saint James, from 1998 until his death in 2019.
The House Freedom Caucus introduced a resolution on Tuesday to remove Plaskett from the Intelligence Committee for being “actively coached” by Epstein, Breitbart News reported.
Quote:WASHINGTON – The House voted down a Republican-led effort Tuesday to censure Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) and yank her from the chamber’s powerful Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence over revelations she texted late sex predator Jeffrey Epstein.
The resolution failed in a 209-214 vote, with all Democrats and three Republicans – Reps. Don Bacon of Nebraska, Lance Gooden of Texas and David Joyce of Ohio – voting against the censure.
Three additional Republican members – Reps. Andrew Garbarino of New York, Dan Meuser of Pennsylvania and Jay Obernolte of California – voted present.
Hours earlier, the House rejected a Democratic effort to refer the censure resolution to the House Ethics Committee for consideration, with 213 in favor of the motion and 214 opposed, paving the way for consideration of the censure bid later this week.
Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) had rolled out the resolution to censure Plaskett in the wake of revelations that she texted Epstein in February 2019 to dig up dirt on President Trump.
“The House failed to pass my censure of Dem. Stacey Plaskett, a sitting member of Congress who took direction from Epstein in the middle of a 2019 Oversight Committee hearing,” Norman wrote on X after the vote.
“This is the problem in Washington!!” he fumed. “The establishment protects ITSELF, and the American people get pushed ASIDE.”
“What happened to accountability?”
Norman made his censure bid a privileged resolution, which means it must be voted on within two legislative days. A privileged motion allows a lawmaker to bypass leadership and committee rules to fast-track consideration.
“Jeffrey Epstein was a predator who exploited minors. The idea that any Member of Congress would coordinate with him on official proceedings is beyond comprehension,” Norman said.
“This was not casual contact. These were deliberate communications that shaped part of a hearing designed to attack President Trump. It raises serious questions about judgment, integrity, and fitness to serve.”
The Post reached out to Plaskett’s office for comment.
Last week, the House Oversight Committee released a batch of Epstein files from the late sex predator’s estate.
Among the documents was an email showing Plaskett texting Epstein during a hearing with Trump’s former lawyer and fixer-turned adversary, Michael Cohen.
Quote:WASHINGTON — “We gonna expose it all!” Rep. Jasmine Crockett warned while accusing Lee Zeldin of taking donations from “somebody named Jeffrey Epstein” — claiming she “very quickly” found evidence linking the Long Island Republican to the late sex offender, who died in jail awaiting trial in August 2019.
Crockett (D-Texas) cited Federal Election Commission filings, which actually show two different men named Jeffrey Epstein donated to Zeldin, now President Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency administrator, while he represented New York in the House.
Both Jeffrey Epsteins donated to Zeldin months after the notorious man of the same name allegedly hanged himself.
Dr. Jeffrey Epstein of Manhasset, NY, donated a total of $1,000 to Zeldin in April and August 2020, according to FEC records.
The other Jeffrey Epstein, the owner of a beverage distribution company from New Brunswick, NJ, donated $600 in February 2020 — six months after the infamous Epstein died.
Online Federal Election Commission records dating to 2012 do not show any donations from the well-connected sex trafficker to Zeldin, who served in Congress between 2015 and 2023.
Crockett’s office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on the apparent misidentification, nor did either donor.
In her remarks, Crockett pushed back on an ultimately defeated Republican attempt to censure Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-USVI), who recently released messages show remained in touch with the predator long after his public disgrace.
“Folks who also took money from somebody named Jeffrey Epstein, as I had my team dig in very quickly: Mitt Romney, the NRCC, Lee Zeldin, George Bush, WinRed, McCain-Palin, Rick Lazio,” Crockett said Tuesday night — shortly after Republicans revealed that supporters of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) invited Epstein to a private meet-and-greet in 2013.
“I just want to be clear: If this is the standard that we gonna make, just know we are gonna expose it all. And just know that the FEC filings, they are available for everyone to review. This is absolutely ridiculous.”
Zeldin responded on X: “Yes Crockett, a physician named Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (who is a totally different person than the other Jeffrey Epstein) donated to a prior campaign of mine. NO FREAKIN RELATION YOU GENIUS!!!”
Quote:The top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee was called out by the Trump White House on Tuesday for shrugging off a colleague’s texts with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein as merely “taking a phone call from her constituent.”
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) made the jaw-dropping comment during a debate on censuring Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-USVI) over her coordination with Epstein during a Feb. 27, 2019, House Oversight Committee hearing at which President Trump’s then-fixer Michael Cohen appeared.
“They’ve arraigned a Democratic member for taking a phone call from her constituent, Jeffrey Epstein, in the middle of a hearing,” Raskin said during floor debate on the resolution. “And of course, I don’t think there’s any rule here against taking phone calls in a hearing.”
“I still don’t see what the charge is,” Raskin went on, directing his comments toward Republicans. “Where is the ethical transgression? Where is the legal transgression? Are you saying anybody on your side of the aisle who had a phone call with Jeffrey Epstein should be censured? Be careful your answer there, because there’s a lot more that’s about to come out, right? So you should think about what is the principle behind this rush to judge.”
“Jamie Raskin — one of the worst to ever disgrace the halls of Congress — says @StaceyPlaskett was just ‘taking a phone call from her constituent’ when she colluded with a convicted sex offender during a committee hearing,” the White House rapid response X account reacted. “These people are SICK!”
“Why is Raskin trying to downplay his colleague chatting with a convicted sex offender?” asked White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson in a separate X post. “Is it because he knows his colleague [House Minority Leader] Hakeem [Jeffries] also wanted dinner with Epstein? Or is it because he’s worried about what else will be revealed about Dems…?”
Other commentators were quick to call out Raskin’s dismissal of Epstein and defense of Plaskett, with X user Bonchie writing: “Let the person that hasn’t colluded with a convicted sex offender to rig the questions in a hearing cast the first stone.”

Quote:WASHINGTON — House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan referred one of former special counsel Jack Smith’s ex-aides for criminal prosecution Wednesday for alleged obstruction of justice.
Jordan (R-Ohio) blasted Thomas Windom, a veteran attorney and former senior assistant to Smith’s 2020 election probe, for failing to answer his committee’s questions and giving shifting rationales for his refusal to do so.
“Congress cannot perform its oversight function if witnesses who appear before its committees corruptly refuse to provide information that the law requires them to furnish,” Jordan wrote in a Wednesday letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“The obstruction of a committee investigation undermines Congress’s core constitutional oversight obligations.”
Windom had been under subpoena to appear before the House Judiciary Committee since Sept. 30 after Jordan was unsatisfied with his previous answers to the panel during a prior voluntary appearance.
Jordan was rankled by Windom’s refusal to answer key questions about the Smith probe’s interactions with the since-defunct House Select Jan. 6 Committee, surveillance of Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), and investigation into certain members of Congress, among other topics.
The Judiciary Committee chairman argued that Windom had authorization from the Justice Department to answer the committee’s questions, but refused to do so.
“Windom declined to answer multiple questions during this transcribed interview on the inaccurate basis that DOJ had not authorized testimony about those topics,” Jordan wrote in his letter.
Windom had invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and cited rules about grand jury secrecy as partial justification for declining to answer the committee’s questions.
Jordan noted that prosecutor JP Cooney, who was in a similar position as Windom, had been more candid with the panel.
The Post reached out to Windom’s attorney for comment.
“It is now plain that the majority is disinterested in pursuing a legitimate legislative inquiry,” Windom’s attorney said during his client’s questioning on Sept. 30. “They have intentionally placed him on the horns of an impossible dilemma, forcing him to choose between risking criminal prosecution for violating grand jury secrecy rules or, alternatively, risking criminal prosecution for contempt of Congress.”
Transcripts show Windom even ducked basic questions about where he worked and whether he is still a practicing lawyer.
Quote:The American people deserve answers about what drove Thomas Crooks to attempt to assassinate President Trump, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Post on ‘Pod Force One’— after a damning report emerged suggesting the gunman left a trail of digital clues the FBI did not previously share with the public.
“Those questions are definitely deserving of answers and I understand why the public wants those answers, and I believe the president does too,” Leavitt recently told Miranda Devine on Pod Force One.
“It’s a good question, and it’s one I’d like to see the answer to — and I think all Americans would,” she added.
Leavitt’s comments came as Devine dropped a bombshell report in The Post Monday about newly unearthed social media posts that appear to show Crooks openly supporting political assassinations, ranting against Trump and using they/them pronouns online.
Crooks’ motive is just one of the major questions that remain unanswered in the 16 months since the attempt on Trump’s life, which left one beloved firefighter dead and two other Trump supporters critically wounded.
Among the other unanswered questions are:
- Whether Crooks acted alone, or had contact with agents of a foreign government
- Why the FBI never noticed or investigated Crooks’ violent rhetoric online
- Whether the FBI turned over all evidence it had to congressional investigators
- Did FBI investigators find all of Crooks’ online activity — or was some of it overlooked?
The FBI did not respond to a request for comment Monday.
Leavitt’s comments came after sources revealed a trove of alarming posts Crooks is believed to have made across social media for years.
Quote:President Donald Trump has reacted to rumors that Texas Senator Ted Cruz is considering a presidential run in the 2028 election.
Axios reported on Monday that Cruz was laying the groundwork for a future run for the White House. But the senator has not launched a formal bid and has insisted he is focused on representing Texans. "Reporters are going to write headlines that get clicks and get eyeballs," he told Fox News on Monday.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Trump said he was not "surprised" by the rumors, and called Cruz "a very good guy" and "a very good friend of mine."
Newsweek reached out to the White House and Cruz's representatives outside of normal business hours via email for comment.
Why It Matters
While the next presidential election is three years away, whoever succeeds Trump will be important in shaping the direction of the GOP and trying to ensure it retains the keys to the White House.
What To Know
Trump was asked to respond to the Axios report by a journalist in the Oval Office Monday. He said: "He's a friend of mine. I haven't spoken to him about it. It's a little early, it's three and a quarter years. That's a long time. But he's a very good guy. He is a very good friend of mine."
He continued: "You'll remember, we had quite a campaign against Ted and it worked out quite nicely, let's see where are we? Oh we're in the Oval Office, but I'm not that surprised to hear that."
Cruz ran against Trump in the 2016 GOP primary. He has spoken out against former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, an ally of Vice President JD Vance, in recent weeks, criticizing him over his views, including his opposition to U.S. involvement in foreign wars. He has also made speeches at Republican Party events,
Trump has previously floated Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as two potential successors for when he leaves office. He himself cannot run again due to an amendment in the U.S. Constitution. Vance is the most likely candidate to assume the role, according to recent betting odds.
Meanwhile, recent polling by YouGov showed the Texas Republican with 4 percent support, trailing Vance at 42 percent. The survey, conducted between November 6 and 9 included 2,172 U.S. adult citizens and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.
Speaking to Newsweek, Mark Shanahan who teaches American politics at the University of Surrey in the U.K. said: "Ted Cruz in never going to be the coming man." He added: "It's doubtful he'll have anything new to offer to voters."
He continued: "As to whether Trump will endorse Vance, it all depends on whether the president actually sees himself leaving the White House in 2029. I suspect he'll tease his own third term deep into the lead-up to the 2028 election. If he decides to pass the GOP presidential baton on to a new candidate, we may see a situation similar to [Dwight D.] Eisenhower's weak and equivocal endorsement of [Richard] Nixon in 1960."
Quote:Authorities in Colorado announced the "shocking discovery" of 1.7 million counterfeit fentanyl pills in an auctioned-off storage unit — the largest drug bust of its kind in state history.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said the record-breaking seizure happened on Nov. 11 in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch after the winning bidder opened up the unit, "found multiple items that appeared to be illegal narcotics" and "immediately notified" deputies.
"This played out like an episode of a TV show, where a winning bidder legally bought a storage unit and unbeknownst to them, the unit contained 1.7 million counterfeit fentanyl pills and another 12 kilograms of fentanyl powder," Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Rocky Mountain Field Division Special Agent in Charge David Oleskysaid in a statement. "There is no doubt many lives have been saved by keeping these poison pills off the streets of Colorado."
The DEA added that, "This is the largest one-time seizure of counterfeit pills in Colorado history, and the sixth-largest, single seizure of suspected fentanyl pills in United States history."
Body camera footage released by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office showed deputies lifting the lid of a storage container to reveal the drugs.
"That is an absolute metric s--- ton of fentanyl," one of the deputies said. "I got a very unique situation here."
Following testing, the sheriff’s office confirmed that deputies found 198 kilograms of counterfeit fentanyl pills, 12 kilograms of fentanyl powder and 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine.
"I want to thank the citizen who reported this discovery, the storage facility staff for their cooperation, and the deputies who responded quickly and professionally," Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly said. "Let me send a strong and unmistakable message: fentanyl and illegal narcotics will not be tolerated in Douglas County. Our deputies, detectives, and crime lab professionals are committed to keeping this community safe, and we will remain relentless in that mission."
The sheriff’s office, which called the find a "shocking discovery," also said, "The original owner of the storage unit had been taken into custody by the DEA in April, which resulted in the unit going unpaid and eventually being auctioned off."
Quote:A federal court on Tuesday blocked Texas from using a redrawn US House map that touched off a nationwide redistricting battle and is a major piece of President Donald Trump’s efforts to preserve a slim Republican majority ahead of the 2026 elections.
Texas this summer was the first state to meet Trump’s demands in what has become an expanding national battle over redistricting. Republicans drew the state’s new map to give the GOP five additional seats, and Missouri and North Carolina followed with new maps adding an additional Republican seat each. To counter those moves, California voters approved a ballot initiative to give Democrats an additional five seats there.
“The public perception of this case is that it’s about politics. To be sure, politics played a role in drawing the 2025 Map. But it was much more than just politics. Substantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map,” the ruling states.
The 2-1 decision followed a nearly two-week trial in El Paso, Texas. Texas’ expected appeal would be directly to the US Supreme Court, under a federal law dealing with redistricting lawsuits.
A coalition of civil rights groups representing Black and Hispanic voters argued the map reduced the influence of minority voters, making it a racial gerrymander that violates the federal Voting Rights Act and the US Constitution.
They sought an order blocking Texas from using the map while their case proceeded, which would force the state to use the map drawn by the GOP-controlled Legislature in 2021 for next year’s elections.
The panel of judges granted the critics’ request, signaling that they think those critics have a substantial chance of winning their case at trial. Judges appointed by Trump and Democratic President Barack Obama formed the majority. An appointee of Republican President Ronald Reagan dissented.
“Without an injunction, the racial minorities the Plaintiff Groups represent will be forced to be represented in Congress based on likely unconstitutional racial classifications for at least two years,” the ruling said.
Republicans in Texas said repeatedly during the Legislature’s debates this summer, and after, that they were redrawing districts solely to help Republicans win more seats. The US Supreme Court gave states the go-ahead to pursue partisan gerrymandering by ruling in 2019 that it’s a political issue beyond the reach of the federal courts.
But the two appeals judges concluded that a major reason that GOP Gov. Greg Abbott and Republican lawmakers moved was a letter from the head of the US Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division in July, directing Texas to redraw four districts that it said violated the Voting Rights Act.
Harmeet Dhillon, the assistant US attorney general overseeing the division, cited a ruling last year by the conservative federal appeals court for Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals declared that the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965 does not allow separate minority groups to “aggregate their populations” to argue that a map illegally dilutes minority voters’ ability to elect the candidate of their choice. The court said each group’s situation must be analyzed separately.
Dhillon argued that so-called “coalition” districts, where no group has a majority but minority voters together outnumber non-Hispanic white voters, must be dismantled as “vestiges of an unconstitutional racially based gerrymandering past.”
“The Legislature adopted those racial objectives,” the majority said. “The redistricting bill’s sponsors made numerous statements suggesting that they had intentionally manipulated the districts’ lines to create more majority-Hispanic and majority-Black districts.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment about the ruling.
Quote:Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-Fla.) was hit with a federal indictment Wednesday, accusing her of stealing $5 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds to support her 2021 congressional campaign.
Cherfilus-McCormick, who has been under investigation by the House Ethics Committee since December 2023, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Miami and faces up to 53 years in prison if convicted.
“Using disaster relief funds for self-enrichment is a particularly selfish, cynical crime,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement. “No one is above the law, least of all powerful people who rob taxpayers for personal gain.
“We will follow the facts in this case and deliver justice.”
The Justice Department alleges that Cherfilus-McCormick, 46, and several co-defendants, including her brother, Edwin Cherfilus, 51, “conspired to steal” an overpayment of $5 million in FEMA funds their family health-care company received in July 2021 as part of a COVID-19 vaccination staffing contract.
The defendants allegedly routed the funds “through multiple accounts to disguise its source” and used “a substantial portion of the misappropriated funds … as candidate contributions” to Cherfilus-McCormick’s 2021 congressional campaign.
Cherfilus-McCormick and another co-defendant, Nadege Leblanc, 46, further schemed to utilize “straw donors” to contribute the stolen money to the Florida Democrat’s campaign, according to prosecutors.
The congresswoman and her tax preparer, David K. Spencer, 41, are also charged with conspiring to file a false federal tax return for allegedly falsely marking political spending and other personal expenses as business deductions — and inflating Cherfilus-McCormick’s charitable contributions to ease her tax obligations.
“Today’s indictment shows no one is above the law,” US Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones of the Southern District of Florida said in a statement. “This indictment reflects our Office’s commitment to follow the facts, apply the law, and protect the American taxpayer.
“Public money belongs to the American people,” he added. “When FEMA funds are diverted for personal or political gain, it erodes trust and harms us all.”
Cherfilus-McCormick was first elected to serve Florida’s 20th District in Congress in 2022, replacing the late Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.), who died in 2021.
Quote:Congress has passed a measure to overturn a plan enacted during the Biden administration that put off limits to oil and gas leasing nearly half a vast petroleum reserve in Alaska. Critics see the vote as political meddling that creates confusion over the future management of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.
Tuesday’s House vote followed passage by the Senate during the government shutdown of the resolution disapproving a management plan for the reserve that was finalized in 2022 under then-President Joe Biden.
The offices of Alaska’s Republican congressional delegation members have said the resolution “fulfills the objectives” of an Alaska-specific executive order signed by President Donald Trump earlier this year. The executive order called for reinstating a plan dating to the first Trump administration that sought to make available for leasing about 80% of the reserve.
The measure next goes to Trump for consideration.
There has been outsized attention on Alaska since Trump’s return to office, with moves to expand development of oil and gas and other resources cheered by state political leaders who had considered the Biden administration overly restrictive in its approach.
The votes are among the latest taken under the Congressional Review Act that are aimed at nullifying land management plans adopted under Biden. A statement from the congressional delegation last month said the review act provides an expedited way to overturn certain federal rules and forbids an agency from issuing another substantially similar rule unless it’s authorized by law.
But Alex Cohen, director of government affairs for the Alaska Wilderness League, called use of the act a “super, super blunt instrument.” Regulatory policy instead requires “very careful, considered stakeholder engagement, scientific analysis,” he said.
The approach taken by Congress also raises questions about what constitutes a substantially similar rule, Cohen said, adding there is a lack of clarity around what happens when a plan is overturned.
Quote:President Trump’s nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is being hailed Wednesday as the “first ever truly pro-Second Amendment” choice to lead the agency.
ATF Deputy Director Robert Cekada’s nomination to the top job at the bureau was quietly transmitted to Congress on Tuesday and referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Cekada, a former NYPD detective, has been with the federal law enforcement agency in various roles since 2005 and has served as deputy director since April.
“In his role as Deputy Director, we have worked closely with Robert Cekada to ensure law-abiding gun owners have a seat at the table in shaping policy,” Knox Williams, president and executive director of the American Suppressor Association, said in a statement.
“If confirmed, he would be the first ever truly pro-Second Amendment nominee to head the agency,” Williams added. “By nominating an ATF Director who understands our community and respects our constitutional rights, President Trump and his administration are further underscoring their commitment to standing up for the Second Amendment and gun owners.
“We urge the Senate to confirm him without delay.”
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) said it was “encouraged” by Trump’s nomination of Cekada.
“The men and women of ATF, and the firearm industry which they regulate, deserve a Senate-confirmed director to lead the bureau,” the pro-Second Amendment group said in a statement. “NSSF respects the experience, wisdom and confidence of Cekada’s colleagues to effectively lead the ATF.”
The bureau is currently headed by Acting Director Daniel Driscoll, who also serves as Secretary of the Army.
FBI Director Kash Patel similarly pulled double-duty, serving as acting director of ATF between late February and early April. Patel had replaced Biden administration holdover Marvin Richardson at the agency.
The Trump administration has sought to shake things up at the bureau responsible for regulating the gun industry and investigating illegal gun trafficking.
Quote:Zohran Mamdani is facing a fiery backlash over his backing of a far-left New York assembly candidate who dismissed 9/11 as a terror attack that just a “couple of people did.”
Conservatives and some liberals quickly condemned Mamdani for supporting Palestinian-American activist Aber Kawas, arguing her incendiary comments have no place in US politics.
Rod Dreher, a prominent conservative writer, cast Kawas as a lefty version of Nick Fuentes — a racist Holocaust denier whose rise has created a rift on the right.
“Zohran is going to be the gift that keeps on giving for the GOP,” Dreher posted on X.
And Fuentes, for the Democrats.”
A clip of Kawas speaking about the effects of capitalism and white supremacy on colonized lands has circulated online after Mamdani’s endorsement.
Kawas argued that apologies for atrocities should be a two-way street.
“The system of capitalism and racism and white supremacy et cetera – and Islamophobia – have all been used to colonize lands, to take resources from other people and so this is a long trajectory and were just seeing the manifestations of that continuation with 9/11,” she said in the clip.
“The idea we have to apologize for a terror attack that a couple of people did and then there is no apology or reparations for genocides and for slavery, et cetera – is something I find reprehensible,” she continued.
The activist’s comments were seen by many as contending 9/11 is America’s fault.
Political commentator Russell Drew argued that Kawas doesn’t belong in New York’s Legislature.
“Folks like her need to be purged from the Democratic Party, not elevated,” he posted on X. “This is our John Birch Society moment.”
“This is today’s Democrat party,” Sen. Ted Cruz posted on X.
Quote:Two storms loom over next week’s Thanksgiving holiday with the potential to cause delays during the busiest travel period of the year, when close to 82 million Americans are expected to take to the roads, rails or skies.
The first storm system is expected to develop next Monday, Nov. 24, and bring rain to the southern Plains as it tracks into the Southeast and potentially the mid-Atlantic or Northeast through Tuesday.
According to AAA, next Tuesday afternoon is supposed to be one of the most congested periods on the roads before Thanksgiving Day itself.
While the exact track of this first system is still coming into focus, long-range forecasts appear to be in good agreement that the South will see several days of rain that could cause delays at airports like Dallas Fort Worth International and Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental.
Whether the mid-Atlantic or Northeast see significant storm impacts remains something of an open question.
Meanwhile, a second storm system will bring rain and colder conditions to the Pacific Northwest next Monday and is expected to dive across the country by midweek.
According to the FOX Forecast Center, an area from Missouri to Texas will likely see some rain on Wednesday into Thanksgiving Day, with the potential for snow where colder air is able to take hold.
“Early long-range guidance leans toward more rain than snow, but confidence is low when it comes to the exact setup or severity.”
Meanwhile, the West, Northeast, mid-Atlantic, and much of the Southeast are expected to have dry conditions on Thanksgiving Day.
East Coast Thanksgiving Day parades will also likely enjoy the last bits of the unseasonable warmth, which is currently bringing spring-like temperatures across the South ahead of a colder winter pattern that long-range forecasters believe will arrive just in time to usher in December.
Quote:A fifth person has died at a lavish Florida Disney World resort in a chilling string of deaths in less than a month that’s cast a dark shadow over the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
The unidentified guest was reportedly pronounced dead at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, just steps from Disney Springs, on Nov. 8, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to The Post Wednesday.
“Although there was a death at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, we declined jurisdiction,” the Medical Examiner said in a statement, noting the body was ultimately turned over to the individual’s personal physician.
The grim news was first reported by a Disney World-focused X account “Walt Disney World: Active Calls,” which tracks real-time police activity across the massive theme park.
A person was first reported “down” at the Saratoga Springs property at 3:18 p.m., according to the account. Minutes later, it delivered a grim update that the individual was “dead.”
The Victorian-style resort — tucked between manicured golf-course greens and packed with pools and a spa — boasts studio and multi-bedroom villas complete with living and dining areas, in-room laundry and full kitchens, with some stays costing a staggering $2,300 a night, according to its website.
No further details about their mysterious death have been released.
Disney and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
The eerie wave of deaths at the sprawling theme park started on Oct. 14, when Disney superfan Summer Equitz, 31, was found dead at the Contemporary Resort in an apparent suicide, hours after she vanished from her Illinois home, local authorities said.
Quote:A loose signal wire caused the blackout that sent the cargo ship Dali crashing into Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said Tuesday, blaming the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) for failing to assess the bridge’s ability to withstand a ship strike.
The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge occurred early on March 26, 2024, when the container ship Dali lost power and struck a support pier, prompting the spans to fall into the Patapsco River.
The NTSB’s final report found that a single misinstalled wire led to a total power loss that left the Dali without propulsion or steering moments before impact. The board said the tragedy could have been prevented if Maryland had followed safety recommendations issued years earlier.
“The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of the contact of the container ship Dali with the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a loss of electrical power blackout due to a loose signal wire connection to a terminal block stemming from the improper installation of wireless label banding,” the board said.
Investigators said the crew reacted quickly to the blackout but had too little time to restore power before the vessel struck the bridge. The ship’s proximity to the span, combined with delays in restarting its systems, made the collision unavoidable.
The report also faulted the MDTA for not conducting a vulnerability assessment, a step recommended by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials to identify ways to protect bridges from ship strikes.
The NTSB said contributing to the collapse “was the lack of countermeasures to reduce the bridge’s vulnerability to collapse due to impact by oceangoing vessels, which could have been implemented if a vulnerability assessment had been conducted.”
Engineers testified that the Dali’s crew misused a flushing pump as a service pump, a practice the ship’s operator, Synergy Marine Group, failed to detect or stop. That misuse limited the vessel’s ability to recover power after the blackout.
The NTSB also criticized Synergy for allowing critical electrical systems to run in manual mode rather than automatic, which hindered the Dali’s recovery after the power failure.
“Staff found that Synergy operational oversight was inadequate because it did not discontinue crew’s ongoing use of the flushing pump as a service pump for the diesel generators aboard the Dali, and at least one other vessel,” NTSB engineer Bart Barnum said.
UKRAINE WAR
Quote:Members of the Trump administration and Russian officials have secretly been hashing out a revised plan to end Moscow’s 45-month-old invasion of Ukraine — but the deal is riddled with unacceptable provisions that would in part force Kyiv to dramatically shrink its military, The Post can reveal.
The 28-point framework calls for Ukraine to shrink its Army to 2.5 times smaller than it is now; forces Kyiv to turn over long-range missiles “or any kind that can reach Moscow or St. Petersburg”; and bans any international brigades within Ukraine — which has long been considered the best way to ensure a halt to Russia’s assault would remain in place, a source familiar with the plan told The Post.
The proposed plan would also target NATO, requiring Ukraine to ban allied countries from keeping any military aircraft in Ukraine — instead backing them up to at least the Polish border.
The plan would also force Ukraine to fork over the entirety of the Donbas region — including territory Russia has been unable to occupy, according to a report by Financial Times.
Axios reported that the deal was inspired by President Trump’s 20-point road map for ending the war between Israel and Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip, citing US and Russian officials.
However, that plan famously calls for an international force to keep the peace in Gaza until a Palestinian state can be established.
Predictably, Moscow appears to be fond of the blueprint, with Kirill Dmitriev — the head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund who is reportedly drafting the plan with Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff — telling Axios “we feel the Russian position is really being heard.”
Still, the Kremlin on Wednesday denied that there had been any new developments in what Moscow wants to see in a peace deal since Trump met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska in August.
“There has been nothing new in addition to what was discussed in Anchorage,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov told reporters on Wednesday, responding to a question about the Axios report.
The plan is purportedly meant to be a sweeping blueprint that not only ends the war in Ukraine but also hashes out questions about security guarantees for the Kyiv government and the rest of Europe, as well as future ties between Washington and the two warring nations.
However, the main security guarantees that Europe and the US have sketched out for Ukraine has been the international security force, which has been scrapped in the new plan.
Further, the plan would have to be accepted by Ukraine, whose people have been fighting and dying for nearly four years to protect Kyiv’s independence and prevent Russian overreach described in the sketched-out plan.
Quote:Ukraine launched US-supplied ATACMS missiles into Russian territory this week — the first confirmed strikes of their kind — after Washington quietly allowed Kyiv to use the long-range weapons for attacks across the border, Ukrainian and Russian officials said.
Kyiv’s General Staff announced Monday that it had deployed the precision-guided missiles “against military targets on Russian territory,” calling the capability a “significant development” that would continue in future operations.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine have successfully employed ATACMS tactical missile systems to deliver a precision strike on military targets on the territory of russia,” the General Staff wrote in a post to X. “This is a landmark event that underscores Ukraine’s unwavering commitment to its sovereignty.”
Four ATACMS were fired toward the southern city of Voronezh on Tuesday, claiming all were intercepted by S-400 and Pantsir air-defense systems, Russian officials said in a post to Telegram.
The Kremlin further alleged that its forces destroyed two Ukrainian ATACMS launch vehicles in Kharkiv Oblast during retaliatory strikes with Iskander-M — a claim that could not be independently confirmed.
Ukraine offered no additional details on the targets hit, but stressed the strikes were “precision” operations aimed at legitimate military infrastructure.
The strikes come nearly a year after the US lifted restrictions barring Ukraine from using American long-range missiles for attacks inside Russia.
For months prior, former President Joe Biden had limited Kyiv to firing ATACMS only within Ukrainian territory despite repeated pleas for expanded latitude.
The Trump administration had intermittently slowed or blocked certain long-range strike requests, with reports indicating that Pentagon approval was required for cross-border missile operations.
This week’s launches signal that those limitations appear to have loosened — at least for now.
The Kremlin has repeatedly warned that Western-provided long-range weapons used on its territory would be treated as direct Western involvement in the conflict.
Quote:A large Russian drone and missile barrage on Ukraine’s western city of Ternopil killed at least 25 people, including three children, authorities said Wednesday, as President Volodymyr Zelensky went to Turkey in search of diplomatic support for his fight against Russia’s invasion.
The nighttime attack hit two nine-story apartment blocks in Ternopil, located around 200 kilometers (120 miles) from the Polish border, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
At least 73 people, including 15 children, were injured, emergency services said.
At least 19 among those killed were burned alive, including three children aged 5, 7 and 16, Klymenko said.
Two dozen people are still unaccounted for, he said on national television, and rescuers expect to work at least two more days to complete the search of rubble.
Russia fired 476 strike and decoy drones, as well as 48 missiles of various types, at Ukrainian targets overnight, Ukraine’s air force said.
The bombardment included 47 cruise missiles, with air defenses intercepting all but six of them, the air force said.
Western-supplied F-16 and Mirage-2000 jets intercepted at least 10 cruise missiles, it said.
“Every brazen attack against ordinary life indicates that the pressure on Russia (to stop the war) is insufficient,” Zelensky wrote on the messaging app Telegram.
Zelensky meets with Turkish president
Zelensky met with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara later Wednesday as part of his efforts to diplomatically isolate Russian President Vladimir Putin and bring more international pressure to bear on him. Putin has so far resisted making compromises, despite U.S. pressure.
In brief statements to the press, Zelensky and Erdogan expressed their commitment to finding a peaceful settlement. Turkey is a key broker in the Black Sea region, preserving relations with both Ukraine and Russia.
“We count on the strength of Turkish diplomacy, on (how) it’s understood in Moscow,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky said before the talks that he had seen “some positions and signals from the United States” about the war. He didn’t elaborate. Tough new American sanctions on Russia’s oil industry, devised to push Putin to the negotiating table, are due to take effect on Friday.
A senior Turkish official initially said U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff would join Zelensky in Turkey, but backtracked later in the day and said Witkoff wouldn’t be coming. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity Tuesday because he wasn’t allowed to speak publicly about the arrangements.
If Putin is only interested in the Donbas region, why are his troops attacking Western Ukraine? Why are drone sightings in Eastern NATO territory not a rare thing nowadays? Can we really believe this is all about ensuring the Russian citizens living in Donetsk and Luhansk won't get exterminated by Ukraine as the Kremlin has claimed?
Or is Putin the guy trying to exterminate the Ukrainians if possible?
Quote:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says an overnight Russian attack killed nine people, wounded dozens more and damaged energy and transport infrastructure.
“Every brazen attack against ordinary life shows that the pressure on Russia is insufficient. Effective sanctions and assistance to Ukraine can change this,” he says, calling for air defense missiles aid from allies.
Russia used more than 470 drones and 48 missiles in the attack, Zelensky adds.
Quote:President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, has told associates he plans to leave the administration in January, a move that would strip Kyiv of one of its strongest advocates inside the White House, sources told Reuters.
Kellogg’s position is a temporary designation that would require Senate confirmation to continue past 360 days, and the retired lieutenant general has described January as a natural point to step aside, the sources said.
Why It Matters
Kellogg’s departure is viewed as a blow to Ukrainian and European officials, who considered the retired lieutenant general a crucial figure capable of challenging Moscow and resisting Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
His exit raises questions over the future of U.S. policy toward Ukraine as internal debate continues within the Trump administration. With world attention still fixed on the Russia-Ukraine war, the move may be interpreted by some as a shift in Washington’s resolve at a key moment for Kyiv.
What To Know
Kellogg has served as Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine since early 2025, in a role that did not initially require full Senate confirmation. Reuters reported that Kellogg’s decision to exit stemmed in part from the temporary nature of his role, which would have necessitated a confirmation process to extend his service beyond a 360-day tenure.
The news of Kellogg’s departure follows reported divisions within the White House regarding Ukraine policy.
Trump’s most recent posture has been described as shifting, with uncertainty over the administration’s longer-term strategy toward Kyiv and Moscow. This uncertainty has reportedly unsettled some European allies who depend on consistent U.S. policy for guidance and support.
Amid the transition of the envoy, Trump has indicated support for new sanctions against Russia.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told reporters that Trump called Senate Majority Leader John Thune to urge quick passage of a delayed sanctions bill addressing Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
According to CNN’s Manu Raju, this conversation took place while Graham and Thune were together on a golf course, but the passage was delayed due to House inactivity. Thune reportedly said the House must act first before further progress is possible.
Trump’s willingness to sign the Senate’s Russia sanctions bill, if passed, remains an important development as policymakers debate Washington’s next steps on Ukraine.
Quote:As reports swirl about the White House's engagement with the Kremlin to formulate a new deal that would end Russia's war in Ukraine, a top Hungarian official has told Newsweek that Budapest stands by President Donald Trump's push for peace—even if other European allies have eschewed talks with Moscow.
"I believe that Hungary is one of the few real full and unconditional supporters of President Trump's peace efforts in the war between Russia and Ukraine," Hungarian Minister for European Union Affairs János Bóka told Newsweek.
The declaration of Budapest's backing came in the wake of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's visit earlier this month to the White House, where he asserted that Kyiv would need a "miracle" to win the war now raging for more than two and a half years since Moscow ordered the invasion in February 2022.
Trump, who has expressed similar views in the past despite voicing the belief in September that Ukraine could regain all currently occupied land, appeared to agree with the fellow NATO leader's sentiment.
Since that meeting, reports have emerged that the Trump administration was quietly consulting with Russian officials to draft a proposal to put a stop to the conflict, one that may necessitate major concessions on the part of Ukraine, including the ceding of disputed eastern territories already predominantly occupied by Russia and a large-scale reduction of armed forces.
The Kremlin has denied knowledge of the details of the alleged 28-point plan, while Ukrainian officials have confirmed they received "signals" of a new agreement being formulated, though without Kyiv's input. European powers have offered a muted response, having long sought to back Ukraine to total victory.
But with no such win in sight, Bóka said Trump's strategy marked the most capable path yet toward silencing the guns of Europe's deadliest conflict since World War II.
"We believe that if you're looking for a diplomatic solution, first, you have to build diplomatic channels, which means that you have to be in direct communication with all the stakeholders in the conflict," Bóka said. "I think it's self-evident. It goes without saying."
"But this is not how it is perceived in Europe," he added. "We welcome that President Trump is talking directly to all the stakeholders in the conflict, including Ukraine and Russia, and I believe that the European Union should do the same."

Quote:Sarah Ferguson is reportedly “shaken to the core” as she navigates uncertainty amid her royal downfall.
On Oct. 30, King Charles III stripped his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew, of his royal titles. He also evicted him from Royal Lodge after weeks of pressure to act over the former Duke of York’s friendship with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The ex-prince shared the 30-room mansion near Windsor Castle with Ferguson, making it their longtime home. She is no longer styled as the Duchess of York and must now find a new home.
“She is leaning on trusted staff members,” British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard claimed to Fox News Digital.
“Her nerves are frayed. She is shaken to the core by the loss of her royal safety net. She fears further humiliation and worries that the serious allegations will affect her girls’ standing. The couple’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have distanced themselves from their parents’ scandals.”
“Sarah has made it well known among her staff and others that she no longer believes in Andrew and is preparing to go her own way after years of loyalty and public defense of her ex-husband,” British royals expert Hilary Fordwich also claimed to Fox News Digital. “She’s described as ‘massively on edge’ and ‘panicking’ about her own future.”
“While Sarah and Andrew are currently both still residing in Windsor, they are reportedly sleeping at different ends of the sprawling Royal Lodge. They do get together to discuss their respective uncertain futures.”
“While their relationship had long been described as unusually close for divorced exes — cohabiting and supporting one another through public crises — there is now a real rupture,” Fordwich said.
Fox News Digital reached out to Ferguson’s representative and a Buckingham Palace spokesperson for comment. It’s understood the palace no longer speaks for Andrew, as he’s not a working royal.
Chard and Fordwich’s comments came shortly after royal biographer Robert Jobson appeared on Hello! Magazine’s “A Right Royal Podcast.” He told the outlet that Ferguson, 66, is “not great.”
Nope, security in the Louvre has not improved a bit.

Quote:Two pranksters managed to sneak a fake painting into the Louvre just weeks after a $102 million heist there — getting past security simply by using a Lego frame.
Neal Remmerie and Senne Haverbeke filmed themselves bringing in the fake painting through security — then putting it in the same room as Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece, the Mona Lisa.
The Belgian duo showed how they built the frame from Lego bricks, which did not set off the famous museum’s metal detectors. Once in, they put in a joky oil painting portrait of them together, which they got in by keeping rolled up.
“We arrived an hour before closing time, but visitors had to leave the room half an hour later. We hung the canvas in a hurry,” Haverbeke explained in the video in Flemish.
He smiled as the picture was displayed in the Salle des Etats gallery, close to the Mona Lisa, even after the recent security scare there.
“We knew it was risky. Once we hung up the painting, we left immediately. We didn’t want to provoke security or wait for their reaction,” he added.
The painting was displayed for less than three minutes before it was removed, a museum rep told the Brussels Times — while stressing that its lawyers were still considering possible legal action..
The stunt comes just a month after thieves made off with $102 million worth of precious jewels from the Louvre.
Four suspects have been charged over the heist, which targeted the French crown jewels.
In the wake of the robbery, the Louvre announced a $92 million new master security plan following a series of damaging allegations about the museum’s crumbling infrastructure.
On Monday, the Louvre was also forced to shut one of its galleries over fears the ceiling could collapse.
The Campana Gallery, which houses nine rooms dedicated to ancient Greek ceramics, will remain closed while investigators examine “certain beams supporting the floors of the second floor above it,” the museum said in a statement.
Quote:The victims of the Siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s said they hope the new investigation into reports that wealthy Westerners paid to hunt human beings, including children, in the besieged city will finally bring answers about the senseless killings.
Fatima Popovac, whose 6-year-old son Adnan was picked off by a sadistic sniper, is among those demanding justice for the slaughter that saw about 11,000 civilians killed between 1992 and 1995.
“I cannot understand how someone could kill a child for amusement,” she told the Anadolu Ajansi news agency.
“What harm could a 6-year-old child possibly have done to anyone?” she asked. “I cannot even imagine that those who carried these out could be in human form.
“I wish I could see that monster — what they look like, what they resemble. Do they carry no humanity at all?” she added.
Italian prosecutors made international news this month when they opened a case investigating reports of “sniper tourism” business that boomed during the Bosnian War.
Interest in the war crimes committed in Sarajevo was renewed after journalist and novelist Ezio Gavazzeni filed a legal complaint over claims that Italians and other foreigners had paid leaders of the Bosnian Serb forces to visit the city and fire at civilians.
The foreigners allegedly paid as much as $90,000 to take part in the makeshift “human safari zone,” with extra payments supposedly made for a chance at killing children.
Gavazzeni, who was inspired to investigate the allegations after watching a 2022 documentary, said he provided his evidence to prosecutors in Milan.
Dzemil Hodzic, founder of the “Sniper Alley” project documenting wartime crimes during the Bosnian War, said he supported the new probe, slamming anyone who would take part in the “sniper tourism” as “killers” and “terrorists.”
