Quote:Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met with President Donald Trump on Wednesday to discuss AI chip export restrictions and voiced his opposition to state-level regulation of artificial intelligence.
CNBC reports that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang held discussions with President Donald Trump on Wednesday, focusing on the critical issue of chip export restrictions. The meeting comes amidst ongoing deliberations by lawmakers on whether to include an artificial intelligence chip sales measure in the comprehensive National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
During his interaction with reporters on Capitol Hill, Huang emphasized Nvidia’s support for export controls, stating, “I’ve said it repeatedly that we support export controls, and that we should ensure that American companies have the best and the most and first.” The proposed Guaranteeing Access and Innovation for National Artificial Intelligence Act (GAIN AI Act) would prioritize U.S. companies’ access to AI chips produced by manufacturers like Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices before allowing sales to countries like China. Huang is opposed to the potential law, telling reporters, “The GAIN AI Act is even more detrimental to the United States than the AI Diffusion Act.”
Breitbart News reported in November that Huang said China would win the AI race, before walking back those comments:
In a stark warning from the head of the world’s most valuable company, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has asserted that China is set to emerge victorious in the global competition for AI dominance. Speaking at the Financial Times’ Future of AI Summit, Huang highlighted the contrasting approaches taken by the two superpowers, with China benefiting from lower energy costs and a more flexible regulatory environment. Huang’s comments were unambiguous — the Times quotes him as saying, “China is going to win the AI race.”
Huang’s comments come amidst ongoing tensions between the US and China over advanced technology, particularly in the semiconductor industry. The Trump administration recently maintained a ban on Nvidia selling its most advanced chips to Beijing, despite a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
…
After facing backlash to his China comments, Huang began backpedaling by issuing a statement on X. After telling the FT that “China is going to win the AI Race,” now the company says “It’s vital America wins by racing ahead and winning developers worldwide.”
The Nvidia CEO also strongly criticized the concept of state-by-state AI regulation, warning that such a fragmented approach could severely hinder the industry’s progress. “State-by-state AI regulation would drag this industry into a halt and it would create a national security concern, as we need to make sure that the United States advances AI technology as quickly as possible,” Huang asserted, advocating instead for a unified federal AI regulation.
Quote:AI may soon reach beyond Earth as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman looks to the stars for a solution to the growing energy demands of data centers. Altman is reportedly considering an investment in a rocket company to take on bitter rival Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has been in talks with Seattle-based rocket startup Stoke Space to potentially invest billions and gain a controlling stake in the company. The discussions, which took place over the summer and intensified in the fall, revolve around Altman’s vision of deploying AI data centers to space in order to harness the Sun’s energy through solar panels and alleviate the strain on Earth’s electricity grid.
The demand for AI data centers is rapidly increasing, with over 5,000 facilities currently operating in the United States alone. Goldman Sachs projects that the electricity demand of these centers will see a 50 percent increase by 2027 and as much as 165 percent by 2030. As companies like OpenAI invest heavily in building new high-capacity facilities to meet the growing demand for artificial intelligence, the limits of Earth’s resources are becoming increasingly apparent.
During a recent podcast interview, Altman acknowledged the challenges posed by the proliferation of data centers, stating, “I do guess a lot of the world gets covered in data centers over time.” He then proposed an alternative solution: “Maybe we put [data centers] in space. I wish I had, like, more concrete answers for you, but like, we’re stumbling through this.”
Altman’s fixation on finding a solution to the data center problem in space is further evidenced by his previous suggestion of building a Dyson sphere to harness energy from the Sun. By investing in Stoke Space, which is developing a fully-reusable, medium-lift rocket called Nova to compete with SpaceX’s Falcon 9, Altman could be taking a significant step towards realizing his vision.
However, the potential deal between OpenAI and Stoke Space may also fuel the ongoing feud between Altman and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, which began over their disagreement on the future of OpenAI. By entering the space industry, Altman could be targeting two objectives simultaneously: addressing the environmental impact of AI data centers and challenging Musk’s dominance in the private space sector.
Quote:Federal prosecutors allege that Brett Michael Dadig, a Pittsburgh man who violently stalked at least 11 women across more than five states, used ChatGPT as a “therapist” and “best friend” who encouraged him to continue terrorizing his victims.
The New York Post reports that according to a federal indictment filed this week in Pittsburgh federal court, Brett Michael Dadig, a 31-year-old social media influencer who referred to himself as “God’s assassin” and threatened to strangle people with his bare hands, faces decades in prison after being charged with several counts of interstate stalking and making threats. The indictment reveals a disturbing pattern of harassment, including explicit physical threats, violations of court orders, and the use of AI tools to justify his conduct.
Prosecutors allege that Dadig told federal authorities that ChatGPT encouraged him to continue his social media posts, advising him to ignore the “haters” who were actually “sharpening” him and helping him “build a voice that can’t be ignored.” Dadig reportedly viewed ChatGPT’s responses as confirmation of “God’s plan” for him to build a platform and “stand out most when people water themselves down.”
Breitbart News previously reported on the tendency for AI chatbots to feed into disturbing fantasies and mental illness, popularly known as “ChatGPT induced psychosis:”
A Reddit thread titled “Chatgpt induced psychosis” brought this issue to light, with numerous commenters sharing stories of loved ones who had fallen down rabbit holes of supernatural delusion and mania after engaging with ChatGPT. The original poster, a 27-year-old teacher, described how her partner became convinced that the AI was giving him answers to the universe and talking to him as if he were the next messiah. Others shared similar experiences of partners, spouses, and family members who had come to believe they were chosen for sacred missions or had conjured true sentience from the software.
Experts suggest that individuals with pre-existing tendencies toward psychological issues, such as grandiose delusions, may be particularly vulnerable to this phenomenon. The always-on, human-level conversational abilities of AI chatbots can serve as an echo chamber for these delusions, reinforcing and amplifying them. The problem is exacerbated by influencers and content creators who exploit this trend, drawing viewers into similar fantasy worlds through their interactions with AI on social media platforms.
The filing also describes how Dadig sought advice from ChatGPT about his “future wife,” and when the chatbot suggested he might meet her “at a boutique gym or in an athletic community,” he used that answer as part of his rationale for continuing to frequent gyms where he repeatedly harassed women.
Several victims obtained restraining orders against Dadig, but prosecutors say he violated them multiple times and even recorded podcasts proclaiming he had been “falsely accused” after being served. When banned from gyms, he allegedly used aliases to regain access and boasted online that “Aliases stay rotating, moves stay evolving.”
NETFLIX + WARNER BROTHERS
Quote:Netflix has come to an agreement to purchase Warner Bros Discovery for a whopping $83 billion. What happens next is key in sealing that deal.
News broke that Netflix beat out Paramount Skydance and ComcastUniversal and came out on top in the bidding war for Warner Bros. with a deal that would unite some of the biggest properties in entertainment, HBO and Netflix, under one roof.
If completed, this merger will hand Netflix control over some of today’s hottest film franchises, including Harry Potter, Batman, Game of Thrones and others, and would suddenly hurl Netflix into the world of theatrical releases..
Indeed, this deal will need to be approved by both U.S. and European regulators before the ink can be applied to the contracts.
Warner Bros. is first set to split its publicly traded halves next summer, a move that will give its film and streaming arms to Netflix while leaving the Discovery Global part — which contains publishing outlets and cable networks like CNN — on its own.
In a call with analysts, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos admitted that the deal was a surprise to many.
“I know some of you are surprised that we’re making this acquisition. And I certainly understand why. Over the years we have been known to be builders, not buyers,” Sarandos said, according to CNN. “But this is a rare opportunity, and it’s going to help us achieve our mission to entertain the world and to bring people together through great stories.”
He also noted that “many of these mergers haven’t worked” for past media consolidations, but added he feels his deal is different.
“A lot of those failures that we’ve seen historically is because the company that was doing the acquisition didn’t understand the entertainment business. They didn’t really understand what they were buying. We understand these assets that we’re buying,” he said.
He added that past mergers were made by companies that were already failing ahead of the mergers. Netflix, he said, is surging, not fading.
Agreement or not, though, the deal, has to pass regulatory muster in the U.S. first. And some are already raising alarms over it, including U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R, UT), who wrote in a post on X that the deal “should send alarm to antitrust enforcers around the world.”
CLOUDFARE
December 5th, 2025
Quote:Cloudflare experienced a brief outage on Friday that impacted numerous global websites, causing them to go offline temporarily. The outage comes less than three weeks after Cloudflare brought a significant portion of the internet to its knees with a long outage.
CNBC reports that earlier today, a significant number of websites worldwide went down due to an issue with Cloudflare, the massive infrastructure provider. The outage affected a wide range of sites, including professional networking platform LinkedIn, digital currency exchange Coinbase, online publishing platform Substack, e-commerce platform Shopify, banking giant HSBC, and food delivery group Deliveroo, among others.
Outage monitoring site Downdetector, which was also briefly impacted by the issue, reported a sharp increase in user complaints about website inaccessibility in the pre-dawn hours for the East Coast. The spike in reports coincided with the Cloudflare outage, highlighting the widespread nature of the problem.
Cloudflare quickly acknowledged the issue and announced that it was investigating the cause of the outage. The company’s shares fell as much as 4.5 percent in premarket trading following the news of the widespread website downtime, but just minutes after the initial announcement, Cloudflare issued an update stating that it had “implemented a fix” and was monitoring the results. This swift response helped mitigate the impact of the outage, and many affected websites began to come back online shortly thereafter. Following the implementation of the fix, Cloudflare’s shares pared some of their losses and were trading down less than two percent in morning trading.
This recent outage comes less than three weeks after a Cloudflare outage brought much of the internet to its knees:
In a recently published blog post, Cloudflare explained that the service outages were caused by internal programming problems, stating categorically that “The issue was not caused, directly or indirectly, by a cyber attack or malicious activity of any kind.”
According to the company, the outage was triggered by an internal change made to database access permissions used by its Bot Management system. This change inadvertently caused the database to generate a “feature configuration” file used be its machine learning models that was double the expected size. When this oversized configuration file propagated across Cloudflare’s global network, it exceeded a hardcoded size limit in the software, causing the bot management module to fail entirely. This cascaded into widespread failures of Cloudflare’s core traffic proxy responsible for routing all customer traffic.
Cloudflare’s software is utilized by a large number of businesses worldwide, helping them manage and secure traffic for approximately 20 percent of the internet. One of the key services provided by Cloudflare is protection against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, which involve malicious actors attempting to overwhelm a website’s system with an excessive number of traffic requests, rendering it unable to function properly. For the second time in three weeks, it was Cloudflare itself taking its clients’ websites down, not malicious attacks.
CENSORSHIP
Quote:The European Commission has issued a $140 million fine to Elon Musk’s X for violating the EU’s controversial Digital Services Act (DSA). The fine is likely to escalate tensions between the EU and America over free speech online.
Bloomberg reports that the European Commission has imposed a €120 million ($140 million) fine on X, Elon Musk’s social media platform, for breaching the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA). This marks the first penalty issued under the new censorship law, which aims to regulate online platforms and “protect” users from illegal content and disinformation.
According to the Commission’s statement, X was found to have misled users with its paid-for blue checkmark verification symbol, failed to provide researchers with access to data, and did not properly set up an advertising repository. The fine, while lower than expected, is still set to escalate tensions between the EU and the White House over free speech and tech regulation.
Vice President JD Vance posted to X in advance of the fine, warning that “The EU should be supporting free speech not attacking American companies over garbage.”
Breitbart News previously reported that Vance said Europe was at risk of “civilizational suicide” based on its mass migration and censorship policies:
In an interview published on Friday evening with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham, Vice President Vance doubled down on his critique of the globalist agenda that dominates much of Europe, warning that, ultimately, it may be the downfall of the “the cradle of Western civilization”.
“The entire idea of Christian civilisation that led to the founding of the United States of America was formed in Europe. The cultural bonds, the religious bonds – these things are going to last beyond political disagreements,” Vance said.
“But I think that Europe, and frankly, I would have said this about America a year ago, is at risk, I think, of engaging in civilizational suicide.”
Interestingly, the fine was not based on the revenues of Musk’s vast private business empire in space, infrastructure, and neuroscience, which regulators had initially considered targeting. The relatively light penalty is a small fraction of Musk’s $467 billion net worth.
The probe into X began in December 2023 but gained more political significance as Musk backed President Donald Trump’s campaign and served as a close adviser to the president as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for several months during Trump’s current term.
EU digital chief Henna Virkkunen emphasized that this was the first non-compliance decision under the DSA and that the precedent would help expedite future investigations. X has 60 days to develop solutions to address the issues and 90 days to implement the changes, or it may face additional fines.
Under the DSA, which took effect in 2023, the EU can impose fines of up to six percent of an online platform’s annual global revenue for failing to address illegal content, disinformation, or transparency rules. The Commission stated that the fine was based on the “principle of proportionality” rather than revenues.
The EU is also investigating several other major US tech firms, including Apple, Google, and Meta, under the DSA and the Digital Markets Act, which aims to prevent companies from abusing their market dominance. The bloc has recently issued substantial fines against Apple and Meta under its digital antitrust rules and has also imposed hefty penalties on other firms, such as Google and Apple, under traditional competition law.
The X probe also includes several other potential DSA breaches that could result in additional fines in the future. Investigations into more serious concerns about X’s policing of illegal content, election disinformation, and use of Community Notes have not yet reached the preliminary findings stage.
Quote:German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has reportedly filed hundreds of criminal complaints against members of the public for insulting him during his tenure as a politician.
According to research conducted by the Welt am Sonntag newspaper, Merz is “one of the most sensitive politicians in the history” of the German republic.
Die Welt’s Sunday paper reported that during his time as a member of parliament, Merz filed criminal complaints against citizens for calling him names such as “little Nazi”, “asshole,” and “filthy drunk”, among others.
The paper said that documents from a law firm commissioned by Merz to file such complaints revealed that the “little Nazi” and “filthy drunken” comments resulted in police searches, with the later ultimately being found to have been an unlawful search.
In the “little Nazi” case, police seized the phone of an elderly and physically disabled woman, who is bound to a wheelchair. The paper noted that by doing so, police hindered her ability to communicate with her doctors.
In total, Welt reported that there were 4,999 individual cases collected by the law firm.
Merz is said to have partnered with the internet monitoring agency ‘So Done:’, a firm founded by a former Free Democrat politician Alex Brockmeier. The agency is said to monitor social media sites for so-called hate speech free of charge for political figures in Germany in exchange for recouping 50 per cent of any fines levied against members of the public.
Given Germany’s strict rules against insulting politicians, it is not always necessary for the individual politician to file a criminal complaint.
Indeed, one such case in which a commenter called Merz an “asshole”, was launched by the Berlin prosecutor’s office after being tipped off by the group “Hesse Against Hate”, a project launched by the local interior ministry in the state of Hesse. The case is currently being investigated as a potential “extremist” politically motivated crime.
Keep an
eye on future reports on the So Done internet monitoring company, guys.
