Magin Series
#11
Plenty of updates for you guys with pictures at the end:
1) I have updated the World information above. The mythology for Magin has been swirling and growing in my head for quite some time now--if I were to write it all, it would close to equal Tolkien's Silmarillion in length--but I haven't had the time and brain power to write it down until recently. What you see below and in the first post is the super-condensed version; my blog features a more detailed version; and the game itself will contain even more details for people to find--some will be hidden but many will be placed in the main quest itself.
2) All three Corneley siblings are almost complete; Alicia needs a few touch ups to look more feminine (we're thinking mainly in the cheeks and adding some flair to her lackluster attire) and Russel just needs some coloring and a flourish to his hilt.
3) The sprite looks FANTASTIC! I'm so happy with the work Brent has been doing. Thank MetalRenard for having me talk to him!
4) Our current plan is for the Kickstarter project to launch on June 1. I can't think of a reason why that would be delayed but in a business revolving around artists and media--anything can happen! Our goal is to raise 10k by my birthday, July 2. If we reach that goal, it'll be the best birthday of my life! The sooner we have that money, the sooner we can put out demos and, ultimately, finish the game. Even if we don't reach our goal in that month, we will fund the project on our own--possibly launching another project a bit further down the line when we have more product to display--but it's likely to be upwards of 3 years before completion if we don't get the fundraising done.

World Origins/Mythology:
The First Monarchs say that watching the world’s birth was like watching a painting stretch across a canvas without painter or brush. They were born with but not of the world and, as such, were able to witness its birth... and wield gifts of great power. One of these represented the physical embodiment of a door which held close a portal to another world; his name was Coeus. When he died, that door opened and allowed free passage between both worlds.
While at first this free passage seemed beneficial to both worlds, the First Monarchs gradually realized it could lead to their world’s destruction. With great sadness, the Monarchs slowly barred passage to different types of people until only humans with open minds, untouched by cynicism and darkness, could pass between the worlds.
Fearing that the common folk of their world would turn against them for this limitation and weary of the responsibility, the First Monarchs cast aside their throne and disappeared into the mists of history. Some of their descendents know of their ancestry and bear it with pride... but most descendents were left in the dark of even their parents’ parts in the world’s history.

Because of some logistics within the Kickstarter program, the fundraising launch was delayed by a few days but it's up now and there are some delightful sprite sneak peeks for you to check out on the page. I'm working on a .gif to upload here so you can see it in action. Let me know what you think of the project so far! Feedback for projects--even constructive criticism--can really help them get done more quickly!

Hey guys! I'm holding a contest to help advertise Magin! Everyone who posts the link on their page--FB, twitter, youtube, etc--before the 21 of this month will be entered into a contest for a $20 Target or Amazon gift card. On the 22, I will announce the winner of the contest. All you have to do is post the link on any of your social media sites. Multiple sites means multiple entries. Your friends can take part in this too! Just link me to your post in a PM and you'll be entered into the drawing! :)

Hey guys! We've entered Magin into a contest for the Indie Developer's Grant! All you need to do to help me win is make an account on the Bundle In a Box page and vote for my game to get the grant! We don't know exactly how much will be given to the grant winner because the amount grows as more people buy the Bundle In a Box! Near the bottom of the page, you can see the grant amount so far! :) Magin's entry is near the bottom of this page: http://blog.bundle-in-a-box.com/?cat=5. We'd really appreciate a vote and some sharing of the event as quickly as possible because the voting window ends on the 28th!
Also, the walking sprite for Blaise has been finished! Let me know what you guys think!

I think that isn't really a relevant question. You should help out if you think it's good and you like the idea behind it, not just "like for like" etc. I don't agree with that kind of mentality.

Besides, Legacy Studios is an official partner. They have a long standing history with the community.

P.S. MarianFrae - Might want to update "Legacy Studios" to it's new name and get Ricky to send DerVV the new logo so he can update it.

Kasper, I'm not a supporter of "like for like" or "sub for sub". Things like that should be given for merit, not popularity. Participating in that kind of activity would help raise popularity and renown but lower my ability to perceive how well people actually liked my project. I can most certainly check out your project and, if I like it, start giving support and promotion--but I won't do so just to get a vote and share.
Thanks, Renard. We're still working on the new logo with Brent. Soon as it's ready, we're updating everything.

Aha, that would explain a lot, that's why i responded that way....Happy with a sweat i've been at this awhile and have seen countless copypasta threads where it looks like they just copy the layout from rm.net and go around making posts on every forum on the first page of a google search....

ok i'm down to play/share. do you have a facebook page?

We use the same basic format on every site but change each one a bit for different sites' capabilities and tolerabilities. amaranthia.com is the hardest to work with because of the limited formatting... but I've been involved in THAT community for... I think it's been 9 years now. Amanda Fitch actually gave me my first job. :)
We do, actually. Probably should add the link to my topics. https://www.facebook.com/MaginGame

We'll be adding finished Russel pictures soon, btw--just need to fix some colors. :)
