Save-Point Will Grow This Year
#1
Star
I'm projecting that Save-Point is going to grow by 15% or more this year which has much to do with these following factors...
  • First thing is first; DerVVulfman is a very honorable host. The friendly greetings, the birthday cake celebrations - those are a huge deal!
  • The December 29, 2022 spike in traffic is not a fluke or a magic trick. I think that peak will be broken at least 3 times this year.
  • A majority of the best scripts are hosted here, especially pre-Java RPG Maker scripts. A surprising number of exclusives too.
  • There are less and less major RPG Maker websites, they're all dying. But this place grows, and I'm sure you're all already well aware of that.
  • The Ruby engines are still very popular. Everything is civil in the communities, but there is a silent rift amongst the Ruby enthusiasts.
  • Even more so, the people who love RPG Maker XP are the silent majority. I see them everywhere I go. XP Mapping enthusiasts galore!
  • Non-RPG Maker engines, or games built with non-RPG Maker engines, are very much welcome here as well. We are friendly towards the home brew DIY community.
  • RPGMakerWeb is becoming an oversaturated community. Some people would get better exposure here. Why? More likely to get their work noticed, easier to develop personal connections and lasting friendships.
  • Save-Point continually ranks very high in Google and Bing searches related to RPG Maker. Often times, it is the top page, depending on what is being searched for. This site used to be a few hotlinks down, but it continually comes up in the #1 or #2 spot as of late.
  • Social media has become undesirable to many. People will be leaving Facebook, Twitter, etc. But where will the retro RPG lovers run off to...? Here.

The problem with RPGMakerWeb isn't RPGMakerWeb itself; that place is great! The problem is, with all the other sites perishing, entire communities have shifted there. There are people there that I recognize which would normally never post at RPGMakerWeb otherwise; they didn't start posting there until their "home" site was "foreclosed" on. Also, RPGMakerWeb focuses on the trendy newest thing (and rightfully so, especially for business reasons - so I don't blame them) and sidelines the old school developers (unintentionally, I'm sure.)

Well, Save-Point fills that niche in a big way.

(Just to disclose, I'm proudly a member of RPGMakerWeb as well, so I have nothing but love for everybody there. However, Save-Point is home for me.)

There is no hard analytics or data science I'm basing this off of, just personal observations and projections. I'll have to check back in a year and see how well this ages :P

From a technical standpoint, this place is especially great for the old school developers who still use Ruby engines. At the same time, there is no alienation factor towards the users of the newer engines, it is all welcome. We may be a RPG Maker focused site, but everybody is welcome to showcase their work no matter what engine it is built in or what the genre of the game is. The only thing we don't tolerate is drama, spam and plagiarism - and rightfully so!

Take care and happy game making!
