Johnson & Johnson submits single dose vaccine candidate to FDA for emergency use

The move by the pharmaceutical giant comes after it released data last week showing it was about 72% effective in the U.S. protecting against the virus. If approved it would be the third vaccine authorized in the U.S. following Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna which received authorization in December.

“Today’s submission for Emergency Use Authorization of our investigational single-shot COVID-19 vaccine is a pivotal step toward reducing the burden of disease for people globally and putting an end to the pandemic,” Johnson & Johnson chief scientific officer and vice-chairman Paul Stoffels, M.D., said in a statement Thursday.

Once authorized, the vaccine is "ready to begin shipping," stated Stoffels who added that the company in conjunction with health authorities around the world "are working with great urgency to make our investigational vaccine available to the public as quickly as possible.”

I'm not keen on these vaccines for emergency use but perhaps they might help other people that are afraid of

LA Judge Rebukes DA Gascón’s
Lawless New Policies Siding With Criminals

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge recently made clear in court that California Penal Code stands “in the interest of justice,” over newly elected Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón’s radical news policies dismissing enhancements and special circumstances in criminal cases.

During a murder case, Gascon's deputy wanted to dismiss all gun and gangland related enhancements... "in the interest of justice".  

So a history of violence doesn't play into Gascon's oath to protect the public...

On July 27, 1969, Charles Manson conducted some members of his 'Family' to break into the rented home of actress Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski, and kill those within. Polanski was not present, filming in Europe; but was distraught after hearing Sharon, pregnant with his child, was murdered.

Now, family members Kay Martley and Debra Tate, Sharon Tate's sister went to the most recent parole hearing of one of the Manson Family members, and found that Gascon is the ONE D.A. who doesn't care if their family's murderer gets released.

This Office’s default policy is that we will not attend parole hearings and will support in writing the grant of parole for a person who has already served their mandatory minimum period of incarceration, defined as their MEPD, YEPD or EPD. However, if the CDCR has determined in their Comprehensive Risk Assessment that a person represents a “high” risk for recidivism, the DDA may, in their letter, take a neutral position on the grant of parole.

Again... it reads manditory minimum period, not their full sentence. Those are HIS words. So if a murderer is to serve 20 years and up for parole in 5, he is just fine with releasing a murderer in 5 years.

    Many think that 'Enough is enough!' and LA Prosecutors are now filing lawsuits against his actions.

Cuomo aide admits they hid nursing home data so feds wouldn’t find out

Governor Cuomo’s top aide privately apologized to Democratic lawmakers for withholding the state’s nursing-home death toll from COVID-19 — telling them “we froze” out of fear the true numbers would “be used against us” by federal prosecutors, The Post has learned.
The stunning admission of a cover-up was made by Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa during a video conference call with state Democratic leaders in which she said the Cuomo administration had rebuffed a legislative request for the tally in August because “right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football,” according to an audio recording of the two-hour-plus meeting.

Bacterial Pneumonia Caused Most Deaths in 1918 Influenza Pandemic

Implications for Future Pandemic Planning

The majority of deaths during the influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 were not caused by the influenza virus acting alone, report researchers from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health. Instead, most victims succumbed to bacterial pneumonia following influenza virus infection. The pneumonia was caused when bacteria that normally inhabit the nose and throat invaded the lungs along a pathway created when the virus destroyed the cells that line the bronchial tubes and lungs.

The Spanish Flu was deadly not because of the virus itself but some bacteria!?
And it caused a bacterial pneumonia...

NIAID co-author and pathologist Jeffery Taubenberger, M.D., Ph.D., examined lung tissue samples from 58 soldiers who died of influenza at various U. S. military bases in 1918 and 1919. The samples, preserved in paraffin blocks, were re-cut and stained to allow microscopic evaluation. Examination revealed a spectrum of tissue damage "ranging from changes characteristic of the primary viral pneumonia and evidence of tissue repair to evidence of severe, acute, secondary bacterial pneumonia," says Dr. Taubenberger. In most cases, he adds, the predominant disease at the time of death appeared to have been bacterial pneumonia. There also was evidence that the virus destroyed the cells lining the bronchial tubes, including cells with protective hair-like projections, or cilia. This loss made other kinds of cells throughout the entire respiratory tract — including cells deep in the lungs — vulnerable to attack by bacteria that migrated down the newly created pathway from the nose and throat.

So a key factor here could have been a severe, acute bacterial pneumonia usually found at the nose and throat.

The cause and timing of the next influenza pandemic cannot be predicted with certainty, the authors acknowledge, nor can the virulence of the pandemic influenza virus strain. However, it is possible that — as in 1918 — a similar pattern of viral damage followed by bacterial invasion could unfold, say the authors. Preparations for diagnosing, treating and preventing bacterial pneumonia should be among highest priorities in influenza pandemic planning, they write. "We are encouraged by the fact that pandemic planners are already considering and implementing some of these actions," says Dr. Fauci.

So every country's health care system should keep their antibiotics at hand.
This has been an interesting finding indeed!

More than 20 men have accused Weaver of sending unsolicited sexual messages, with some saying he tried to barter his connections for sex; one was underage when Weaver began communicating.

Reading the article, you will see that co-founder Jennifer Horn stepped had resigned, but she wasn't the only one. So too did Steve Schmidt who was shocked to learn about Weaver only a month ago. And it now really bad for Weaver as the FBI is investigating the underage assault allegations.

  Seriously, who'd want to trust this guy? While Trump was sanctioning Russia, it turned out that Weaver was a Russian Lobbyist ! Yep, he represented a Russian owned company that also owns infamous Uranium One... for those that remember the Hillary Clinton Uranium One scandal.

Oh, yeah.  They touched many things.  They pointed out that "You can't incite what was already going to happen" as they presented how rioters planned their intent for weeks.  They compared Trump's speech to the Democrat's own violent rhetoric, and the hypocrisy of Democrats as their own House Impeachment Leader challenged the certification of the 2016 Electoral College votes that put Trump in the White House just as Trump did this cycle.  They blasted the Democrat's attempt to claim Trump had no freedom of speech during the impeachment while Trump's team pointed out actual precedents from multiple Supreme Court cases. They showed footage of Trump's speech which repeatedly 'Called for Peace'. And how the House impeachment denied Trump any semblance of due process.

I should point out that Trump's lawyers played the democrat's video evidence side-by-side to their own, showing how Democrat video footage was blatantly edited and mislead any who viewed it. This I saw personally as I watched the defense straight up to 4pm EST.  No ambiguity.

WHO Bombshell: COVID 'Circulating Widely' Before Dec. '19

The World Health Organization's Wuhan, China, investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 has found potentially 13 different strains of the virus in December 2019, suggesting it had gone undetected for some time, CNN reported.
"The virus was circulating widely in Wuhan in December, which is a new finding," lead WHO investigator Peter Ben Embarek told CNN in an exclusive interview.
Embarek added Chinese scientists presented 174 severe cases of the virus in December 2019, suggesting more than 1,000 might have been infected in Wuhan by that time.
"We haven't done any modeling of that since," he told CNN. "But we know . . . in big ballpark figures . . . out of the infected population, about 15% end up severe cases, and the vast majority are mild cases."

 Yet, they claimed both Trump and Pompeo were spreading lies against China. The CCP even dared to blame US and Italy for the virus.
How are they gonna justify their actions now?

A major winter storm has started brewing over Texas, with the worst snowfalls expected Sunday afternoon as the state prepares for historic and dangerous conditions.
The state has already seen snowfall in most counties over Saturday night, with officials warning residents to avoid travel unless necessary due to icy roads.
Gov. Greg Abbott said Saturday that Texas "is facing a very dangerous winter storm" over the coming days that will "make movement virtually impossible."
He called the storm "unprecedented" in the state’s history.
"What becomes frozen will remain frozen for a long period of time," Abbot said, according to KWTX.

Justin Bieber’s Rolls-Royce looks like it really rides on air

Elon Musk has been talking about making a Tesla that can hover, but Justin Bieber beat him to it.
Well, the singer’s new car can’t actually fly, but the custom Rolls-Royce was designed to look like it's levitating.
The car was built by West Coast Customs and inspired by the Rolls-Royce 103ex concept car of 2016.
Unlike that autonomous electric vehicle, Bieber’s car is based on the conventional Rolls-Royce Wraith, which the shop fitted with a redesigned retro-futuristic body and covered wheels.

So he lets people think it can fly... even if it never will. Perhaps Musk should take note and come up with some crazy idea of his.

Scientist suggests 'eating human meat' to tackle climate change

Climate change alarmism has taken a macabre turn that looks like satire, but isn’t.
It happened in Sweden.
At a summit for food of the future (the climate-ravaged future) called Gastro Summit, in Stockholm on Sept. 3 to 4, a professor held a PowerPoint presentation asserting that we must “awaken the idea” of eating human flesh in the future, as a way of combating the effects of climate change.
In a talk titled “Can You Imagine Eating Human Flesh?”, behavioral scientist and marketing strategist Magnus Soderlund from the Stockholm School of Economics argued for the breaking down of ancient taboos against desecrating the human corpse and eating human flesh.

This guy gotta have been out of his mind when he made such a proposal in Sweden.

We brewed beer from recycled wastewater – and it tasted great

Reused and treated wastewater is one solution, although many people are put off by water that someone may showered in or flushed down the toilet.
To change attitudes, a brewery in Calgary decided to brew a beer from reused wastewater to show it's safe.
But water can be reused. It can be repurposed, following treatment, for drinking water and non-drinking water, such as car washes, and can be part of the solution to help communities build water resilience in the face of growth and climate change.
It can also be transformed into beer.

I don't know what you'd prefer but I'll keep drinking my good old beer brand.

Conservatives slam Dem bill that would ban Trump from Arlington Cemetery burial

Conservatives slammed a bill proposed by House Democrats that would ban “twice impeached” presidents from being buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
“This is pathetic, even for you, House Democrats. I heard some of you went to law school. Ever heard of a bill of attainder?” lawyer Harmeet Dhillon tweeted in response to the proposed bill.
H.R. 484 was introduced in late January and is known as the "No Glory for Hate Act." It would "prohibit the use of Federal funds for the commemoration of certain former Presidents” who have been impeached twice.
Former President Donald Trump is the only president in the nation’s history who has been impeached twice. He was not convicted in either instance.

NASA lands rover on Mars after 'seven minutes of terror'

Cheers erupted as NASA successfully landed its fifth rover, dubbed Perseverance, on Mars.
The rover landed on the red planet at 3:55 p.m. on Thursday after a 203-day journey taking the spacecraft 293 million miles away from Earth. Perseverance survived what is known as the “seven minutes of terror,” which is a period of time where the craft has to land itself on the planet without assistance from NASA given the 11-minute communication time delay.
The rover will preserve core rock samples via a caching system wherein they will be stored in tubes and subsequently deposited so that future missions can collect them and fly them back to Earth, NASA said.

This might not be the best moment to spend large sums of money on space traveling but let's be honest. Who doesn't wanna explore other worlds nowadays?

Vatican walks back 'No Jab, No Job' decree after criticism

The decree said that those who cannot get vaccinated for health reasons may be given another position, presumably where they would have contact with fewer people, but will receive the same pay even if the new post is a demotion.
But the decree said those who refuse to get a vaccination without sufficient reason would be subject to a specific provision in a 2011 law on employee rights and duties.
The article in the 2011 law says employees who refuse “preventive measures” could be subjected to “varying degrees of consequences that could lead to dismissal”.
After news stories about the decree on Thursday, many Italians took to Twitter to criticise it, with some saying it was contrary to Pope Francis’ general call for mercy.
On Thursday night, Bertello’s office issued a statement saying that “alternative solutions” would be found for those who do not want to get the vaccine.

It had been a weird move to threaten employees the way the Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello, the governor of Vatican City, initially prentended. A vaccine is no guarantee people won't contract any disease, and there are reports of people falling ill after their vaccination, especially among the elderly.

SpaceX's Starship rocket lands but then explodes

The SpaceX company has managed to land one of its Starship prototypes at the end of a high-altitude test flight.
Serial Number 10 (SN10) touched down in Boca Chica, Texas - in contrast to its predecessors SN8 and SN9, which crashed into the ground.
But that wasn't the end of the story. The next-generation space vehicle put down heavily on its extended legs.
A fire then developed around its base and eight minutes later SN10 blew itself apart on the landing pad.

 Yeah baby! It's been a successful landing, guys!

Exceptional' 15th-Century Ming Dynasty bowl unearthed at US yard sale

As far as antiques hunting goes, this might just be as good as it gets.
A small bowl bought for just $35 (£25) at a market sale in the US state of Connecticut has turned out to be a rare 15th-Century Chinese artefact.
The white porcelain bowl was spotted by an unidentified antiques enthusiast near New Haven last year, and they quickly sought an expert evaluation.
The experts came back with good news, revealing that the bowl is thought to be worth between $300,000 and $500,000.
In fact, it is believed to be one of only seven such bowls in existence and most of the others are in museums.

Where do you think we could find such a rare artifact, guys?

WHO drops plans for promised report on COVID-19 origin

Concerns cited over legitimacy of its investigation of alleged virus leak from Wuhan biolab

A group of two dozen scientists issued an open letter on Thursday stating that the WHO’s mission in China, which was accompanied by “Chinese citizens whose scientific independence may be limited,” did not have the “mandate, the independence, or the necessary accesses” to fully investigate all potential origins of COVID-19, including the theory that the virus could have accidentally leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Based on our analysis, and as confirmed by the global study convened by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Chinese authorities, there is as yet no evidence demonstrating a fully natural origin of this virus. The zoonosis hypothesis, largely based on patterns of previous zoonosis events, is only one of a number of possible SARS-CoV-2 origins, alongside the research-related accident hypothesis.

So the team itself believes Covid was NOT naturally occurring, which China has maintained throughout.   Duh.

Feds quietly dismiss dozens of Portland protest cases

Federal prosecutors have dismissed more than one-third of cases stemming from last summer’s violent protests in downtown Portland, when protesters clashed with federal agents. KGW reviewed federal court records and found 31 of the 90 protest cases have been dismissed by the U.S. Department of Justice, including a mix of misdemeanor and felony charges.

Some of the most serious charges dropped include four defendants charged with assaulting a federal officer, which is a felony. More than half of the dropped charges were "dismissed with prejudice," which several former federal prosecutors described as extremely rare. “Dismissed with prejudice” means the case can’t be brought back to court.

 Literally 1/3rd of the cases dropped.  And there, rioters tried to burn the Multnomah County Justice Center, attack the Portland Police Association, damage the Saint André Bessette Catholic Church forcing it to actually close its outreach centers, and more.

Six Dr. Seuss books won’t be published over racist imagery

The company (Dr. Seuss Enterprises) that oversees the publishing of Dr. Seuss’s works said  it scrapped the six books — “If I Ran the Zoo,” “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!,” “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer’’ — because they “portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong.”

While Dr. Seuss — whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel — remains one of the world’s most popular children’s authors three decades after his death, his books have come under fire in recent years for how they portray black people, Asian people and other groups.

“And To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” includes a drawing of a Chinese man with slits for eyes.

That's weird. I never had those. But I remember "The Sneetches" which had two groups of bird people that either had 'Stars' ont their chest or didn't, a story about tolerance saying  that everybody should be treated equally no matter what they look like.

Judicial Watch: New Emails Detail WHO/NIH Accommodations to Chinese Confidentiality ‘Terms’

Judicial Watch announced today that it and the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) received 301 pages of emails and other records of Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. H. Clifford Lane from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services showing that National Institutes of Health (NIH) officials tailored confidentiality forms to China’s terms and that the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an unreleased, “strictly confidential” COVID-19 epidemiological analysis in January 2020.

Additionally, the emails reveal an independent journalist in China pointing out the inconsistent COVID numbers in China to NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ Deputy Director for Clinical Research and Special Projects Cliff Lane.
